Scheduling Automatic Pickup by Self-driving Cars

    Get PDF
This disclosure includes techniques to automatically schedule pickups by self-driving cars. The techniques utilize data about a user such as the user’s location, payments, calendar, to-do list etc. An example technique uses data from commercial establishments (e.g., payments systems), and self-driving cars to determine a location and a time at which the user needs to be picked up. A self-driving car system schedules a self-driving car to pick up the user at the specific location and time. The techniques described may be implemented in selfdriving cars, a central server system, user mobile devices, client devices, or different combinations of these systems and devices

The Effect of Expected Benefit and Perceived Cost on Employees’ Knowledge Sharing Behavior: a Study of It Employees in India

In the increasingly turbulent business environment knowledge is considered to be the most important source of sustainable competitive advantage and to sustain it, an organization must create, share, and utilize the knowledge it possesses.  The critical knowledge is only available to the organization as long as employees are willing to cooperate. It can easily be lost if the employees decide to explore other opportunities outside the organization or employees fear to share knowledge with co-workers.  To achieve continuous growth, organizations need to understand the factors which motivate and de-motivate the employees to share knowledge. The present study examines the impact of employees’ perception of perceived benefits and cost of knowledge sharing on their knowledge sharing behavior. Data were collected from 228 employees of two major Information Technology organizations in India. The results of regression analysis showed that benefits mainly perceived increase in expected association with others and expected contribution to organization positively influences employees’ knowledge sharing behaviour. Perceived cost was found to influence negatively on knowledge sharing behaviour. The findings of the study are expected to provide significant inputs to organizations to design the practices which make knowledge sharing an integral part of the day-to-day conversation.  &nbsp

Chiral anomalies induced transport in Weyl semimetals in quantizing magnetic field

Weyl semimetals host relativistic chiral quasiparticles, which display quantum anomalies in the presence of external electromagnetic fields. Here, we study the manifestations of chiral anomalies in the longitudinal and planar magneto-transport coefficients of Weyl semimetals, in the presence of a quantizing magnetic field. We present a general framework for calculating all the transport coefficients in the regime where multiple Landau levels are occupied. We explicitly show that all the longitudinal and planar transport coefficients show Shubnikov-de Haas like quantum oscillations which are periodic in 1/B. Our calculations recover the quadratic-B dependence in the semiclassical regime, and predict a linear-B dependence in the ultra-quantum limit for all the transport coefficients.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, Comments are welcom

DWT based Compression of X-Ray Images using Fuzzy C - Means

People, Hospitals and many other organizations manage to store a large amount of files inside their storage devices. Once the storage reaches its limit then the organizations try to minimize the files size by using different compression techniques. In this paper, we focus on lossless image compression for DICOM images using clustering approach. Cluster of data point is formed by Fuzzy C-mean clustering approach. An automatic threshold is selected by this clustering approach and the data point whose pixel intensity is greater than threshold is grouped into one cluster and the data point whose pixel intensity is less than threshold is grouped into another cluster. Hence we obtain region of interest (ROI) and Non-region of interest (N-ROI). Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used to compress the image and inverse DWT is used to regenerate the image
