Positive Psychology’s Character Strengths in Addiction-Spirituality Research: A Qualitative Systematic Literature Review

    Get PDF
There is an increasing interest in the scientific study of the association between spirituality and recovery from addiction. While most of these studies have provided evidence for a possible relationship, others have explored the underlying mechanisms and meditators in the relationship. However, generally, many studies and reviews have not approached the issue within a specific theoretical framework of mainstream psychology. In an attempt to fill this gap, the review being reported here undertook a Qualitative Systematic Literature Review (QSLR) of addiction-spirituality literature. QSLR is an orderly manner of searching for academic literature, selecting relevant literature following a set of inclusion/exclusion criteria, qualitatively analysing the selected literature, and reporting the findings in such a way as to generate a set of hypotheses. QSLR focusses on literary data, rather than on numerical data as the tradition Systematic Literature Review and Meta-analysis do. Working within the framework of positive psychology, the present review attempted to identify the character strengths relevant to addiction and recovery by carrying out a QSLR on 53 selected peer-reviewed articles. Among the 24 character strengths, the following emerged as salient: wisdom, integrity, vitality, humility, forgiveness, kindness, love, hope and spirituality. On this basis, a hypothetical conclusion is suggested

Evaluation of acid resistance in concrete Admixed with silica fume and M-sand

The M40 grade conventional concrete is made and its response towards acid resistance is compared with concrete partially modified with mineral admixtures and manufactured sand. 5% by weight of binder is replaced with silica fume. Fine aggregate is replaced partially with range of 0%, 15%, 25%, 35% and 45% by manufactured sand. All the mixes are cured under water for 28 days and also cured in two acidic mediums. Acid attack on concrete is studied for HCl and H2SO4 solution with concentration of 1%. All the mixes are observed for its loss in weight and compressive strength after acid attack. The mix with 45% manufactured sand and 5% silica fume showed better performance. There was reduction in loss of weight when manufactured sand is replaced for 45%. Addition of silica fume enhances pozzolanic action at early age and hence early strength of concrete. Modified Concrete resists HCl than H2SO4 solution

Microstructural Analysis of Intermetallic Ni5Al3 Thin Films

The possible magnetic transition phenomenon obtained is postulated particularly on the Nickel Aluminum (Ni5Al3) thin films of different thickness. It was found that the film resistance exhibits a linear but mild increase over the initial temperature range, followed by a transition to a relatively rapid decline in the resistance after attaining maximum at ~170ºC. This positive temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) makes this material suitable for magneto resistor applications. The same observations were made on two different sputtering systems with different deposition conditions, indicating that the magnetic transition is a highly reproducible phenomenon

Concrete Incorporated With Silica Fume And Manufactured Sand Under Acidic Nature

Now a dayAcid attack is growing threat to concrete structures. Using some alternate materials as partial replacement of cement and sand in the concrete is an important factor that enhances the performance of concrete in an aggressive environment. In this present study, the cement is replaced with silica fume by 10 % and the sand is replaced with manufactured sand up to 50%. The selection of these replacement materials involves a balance between economy and durability. The specimens are immersed in 2% concentration of both acids such as sulphuric acid and hydro chloric acid at 28 days. The grade of concrete is M30. From the results, it is observed that the concrete containing 10% silica fume and 40% manufactured sand has the better performance in acid environment. Â

Enhance the Competitive Intelligence Capabilities in Company using Web Mining Technique

    Get PDF
In this globalization era, the company should have a strategy to keep having the edge on the competitors. The way is enhancing the competitive intelligence of that company because CI is a part of strategy management of company that focuses on external business environment. In business world, the company must focus on not only CI but also Decision Support System because it is an important piece of management system of a company. By technology development, nowadays a company can find information about competitors or others on the web, so this paper provides an overview how web can be used for competitive intelligence. The collected information is not always the useful information. The company must also select the appropriate source to determine the best result for making decision. One of the related literature proposes a framework of Decision Support System by web mining technique. This paper also provides an enhancement of that framework in order to enhance the competitive intelligence

This article explores the marriage rituals that took place in the Sangam era through the very famous Tamil book Ettuthogai. Marriage rituals means the glory of humanity. The purpose of this article is to investigate the marriage rituals in the Ettuthogai, such as Fasting, fixing date, keeping flower, greeting the woman, cooking and feasting. In this article the reason for their marriage ceremony had been viewed from anthropological point on the basis of action-oriented, social relations and community-oriented
