    XUV Induced Bleaching of a Tin Oxo Cage Photoresist Studied by High Harmonic Absorption Spectroscopy

    Inorganic molecular materials such as tin oxo cages are a promising generation of photoresists compatible with the demands of the recently developed Extreme UltraViolet (EUV) lithography technology. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the photon-induced reactions which occur in photoresists after exposure is important. We used XUV broadband laser pulses in the range of 25-40 eV from a table-top high-harmonic source to expose thin films of the tin oxo cage resist to shed light on some of the photo-induced chemistry via XUV absorption spectroscopy. During the exposure, the transmitted spectra were recorded and a noticeable absorbance decrease was observed in the resist. Dill parameters were extracted to quantify the XUV induced conversion and compared to EUV exposure results at 92 eV. Based on the absorption changes, we estimate that approximately 60% of tin-carbon bonds are cleaved at the end of the exposure.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

    Amelioration effects of vitamin E, melatonin, L-carnitine, and atorvastatin, on destructive effects of busulfan in the testes of male rats: A gene expression evaluation

    According to toxicity of various types of cancer treatments on different kind of cells with high division activities such as germ cells, antioxidants may protect these cells in testes against the toxic effects of the chemotherapeutic drugs. For this purpose, 24 h after busulfan treatment, 30 adult male wistar-rats were divided to six groups. Intra-peritoneally administrations of normal saline in control group and DMSO (as a busulfan solvent) in DMSO group were performed daily for 6 weeks beside the treatment contain vitamin E (Vit-E group), L-carnitine and melatonin (LM group), atorvastatin and melatonin (AM group), atorvastatin, L-carnitine, and melatonin (ALM group). After decapitation and removal of the testes, molecular evaluations were performed by the relative abundance measurement of DAZL, Bcl2, and Casp3 transcripts. The results of this study exhibited high level of expression of DAZL in Vit-E treated rats compared to control counterparts (P<0.01). The expression level of Bcl2 is significantly down-regulated in LM (P<0.008), and ALM groups (P<0.001), and the relative abundance of Casp3 transcripts was significantly lower in AM (P<0.001) and ALM (P<0.007) than that of control group. As well as, there was significant high expression of this gene in Vit E-treated rats compared to the rats of control group. In conclusion, busulfan destructive effects were moderated with Vit-E administration through regulation of the expression of DAZL. The other antioxidants used in different combinations had not amelioration effects on spermatogenesis in busulfan-induced male rats, though the positive effects of some of these antioxidants on apoptosis reduction.     Factors Associated with The Incidence of Coronary Heart Disease in The Mashad: A Cohort Study

    Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, and specifically in Iran. Accurate assessments of Coronary heart disease (CHD) incidence is very necessary for public health. In current study we aimed to investigate the incidence of CHD and importance of several classical, modifiable and un-modifiable risk factors for CHD among an urban population in eastern Iran after 6 years of follow-up. Methods The population of MASHAD cohort study were followed up for 6 years, every 3 years in two step by phone and who reported symptoms of CVD were asked to attend for a cardiac examination, to estimate the incidence of CHD with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) as well multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the association of several baseline characteristics with incidence of CHD event. Evaluation of goodness-of-fit was done using ROC analysis. CHD cases divided into four different classes which include: stable angina, unstable angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death. Results In the six years\u27 follow-up of Mashhad study, the incidence rate of all CHD event in men and women in 100,000 people-years with 95% confidence intervals were 1920 (810-3030) and 1160 (730-1590), respectively. The areas under ROC curve (AUC), based on multivariate predictors of CHD outcome, was 0.7825. Conclusion Our findings indicated that the incidence rate of coronary heart diseases in MASHAD cohort study increases with age as well as our final model designed, was able to predict approximately 78% of CHD events in Iranian population

    Anticipation of Bending Reinforcement Based on Iranian Concrete Code Using Meta-Heuristic Tools

    In this paper, different concrete codes including America, New Zealand, Mexico, Italy, India, Canada, Hong Kong, Euro Code and Britain are compared with the Iranian concrete design code. First, by using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), the codes having the most correlation with the Iranian ninth issue of the national regulation are determined. Consequently, two anticipated methods are used for comparing the codes: Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Multi-variable regression. The results show that ANN performs better. Predicting is done by using only tensile steel ratio and with ignoring the compression steel ratio

    Impacted Mandibular Third Molar, Associated Pathoses, and Their Relation to Angulation and Impaction Depth: A Cone Beam CT Study

    Statement of problem: prophylactic removal of the impacted lower third molar (ILTM) is controversial and accompanying pathologic conditions play an important role. Objectives: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the prevalence of commonly found pathoses associated with ILTM in relation to angulation and impaction depth in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: We evaluated CBCT of 500 ILTMs from 235 females (57%) and 177 males (43%) for the presence of caries on the second and third molars, external root resorption (ERR) of the second molar, and follicular spaces (FS) >5 mm in diameter in relation to angulation and impaction depth according to Pell and Gregory and Winter’s classifications, respectively. Results: We observed that 55.6% of ILTM had at least one detectible lesion. ERR was the most frequent pathologic condition (31.2%), followed by caries on the second (26%) and third (13.4%) molars, and FS >5 mm (2.4%). ERR was the only pathology influenced by angulation. There was significantly more ERR in mesioangular ILTMs (40.5%, P5 mm (P=0.035). There were more caries on the second molar (P=0.013) and FS >5 mm (P<0.001) in class III. Conclusions: Prophylactic removal of ILTMs (especially in mesioangular or horizontal impactions) could be suggested considering the potential for pathologic changes in ILTMs and the propensity for these teeth to cause ERR in second molars

    Bone marrow alterations in COVID-19 infection: The root of hematological problems

    Introduction: The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a respiratory infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus with a significant impact on the hematopoietic system and homeostasis. The effect of the virus on blood cells indicates the involvement of the bone marrow (BM) as the place of production and maturation of these cells by the virus and it reminds the necessity of investigating the effect of the virus on the bone marrow. Method: To investigate the effects of COVID-19 infection in BM, we reviewed literature from the Google Scholar search engine and PubMed database up to 2022 using the terms "COVID-19; SARS-CoV-2; Bone marrow; Thrombocytopenia; Hemophagocytosis; Pancytopenia and Thrombocytopenia. Results: Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus is accompanied by alterations such as single-line cytopenia, pancytopenia, hemophagocytosis, and BM necrosis. The presence of factors such as cytokine release syndrome, the direct effect of the virus on cells through different receptors, and the side effects of current treatments such as corticosteroids are some of the important mechanisms in the occurrence of these alterations. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this review is the first study to comprehensively investigate BM alterations caused by SAR-CoV-2 virus infection. The available findings show that the significant impact of this viral infection on blood cells and the clinical consequences resulting from them are deeper than previously thought and it may be rooted in the changes that the virus causes in the BM of patient

    Identifying the Features of Iranian Mobile Applications Related to COVID 19 Disease

    Introduction: COVID-19 has become a pandemic in the world; with the unprecedented growth of technology, smartphones play a role in different stages including managing COVID-19 outbreak. This study aimed to investigate Iranian mobile applications related to Covid-19 disease. Method: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on all Iranian mobile applications related to COVID-19 in 2020. A search was conducted on Iranian digital app markets on phones with Android and iOS operating systems using the following keywords: ‘COVID-19’, ‘coronavirus’, and ‘corona’ with their Persian translations. For each app, the extracted information included name, category, cost, size, latest version, requirement for Internet connectivity, subscriber count app download, user satisfaction rate, developers, and purpose of development. Results: The search results indicated a total of 103 apps (76 Android and 27 iOS apps). The most frequent categories were medical apps, games, and educational apps.  About 80.6% of apps were free, 15.5% of apps had in-app purchases, and 3.9% of apps required payment for installation. Most applications were developed by personal developers and 84 applications were online and 19 applications were offline. Other goals of COVID-related application developers in Iran included entertainment, providing daily statistics, raising user awareness, control and tracking, self-care, and prevention. Conclusion: A wide range of mobile applications related to COVID disease are available with many capabilities.     Protective effect of HLA-E∗0101∕∗0103 genotype in survival of patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant

    Objectives: HLA-E is located on the nonclassical major histocompatibility complex class I and acts as the ligand for natural killer cells. Consequently, it has a main role in the regulation of innate immune responses by involving cell identification by natural killer cells. Differences in expression levels among HLA-E alleles have been suggested to affect transplant outcomes. In this study, we evaluated the effects of different HLA-E genotypes on allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant in southern Iran. Materials and methods: We investigated 200 patients (donors and recipients) who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplant and 100 normal participants (control group) in a case-control study. Detection of HLA-E polymorphisms was performed using a sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction method. Results: Statistical analyses indicated that genotypes in the transplant group were not distributed in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (χ²=76.56; P &lt; .001), whereas genotypes in the control group were distributed in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (χ²=0.39; P = .53). No significant differences were observed in cumulative incidence of acute (P = .76; hazard ratio = 0.80; 95% confidence interval, 0.19-3.31) and chronic (P = .75, hazard ratio = 0.048; 95% confidence interval, 0.00) graft-versus-host disease in recipients harboring HLA-E∗0103 allele compared with those homozygous for the HLA-E∗0101 allele. The HLA-E∗0103 allele showed a trend toward lower cumulative incidence of relapse compared with the homozygous HLA-E∗0101 genotype (8% vs 21.5%; P = .37; hazard ratio = 2.50; 95% confidence interval, 0.32-19.20). Conclusions: Genotypes of the HLA-E molecule did not correlate with acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients except for the HLA-E∗0101∗∕∗0103 genotype, which was protective in survival of our study patients

    Customer Quality and Rheumatoid Arthritis in the Iranian Patient’s Perspective: A Cross-Sectional Study

    Introduction: Customer Quality (CQ) refers to customer’s characteristics and is related to the consumer knowledge, skills and self confidence in active participating in care process and life style improvement. This study was aimed to assess customer quality among people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) according to the patients’ perspective. Materials and Methods:This cross-sectional study was carried out on 170 patients who received care from specialist clinics of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in 2013. Customer Quality was assessed using Comprehensive Quality Measurement in Health care questionnaire (CQMH_CQ). Questionnaire content validity was reviewed and confirmed by 10 experts and its reliability was confirmed based on Chronbach's alpha index (α=0.803). SPSS-17 statistical software was used to analyze the data. Independent Samples T test and ANOVA were conducted to compare CQ score between categorical variables. Results: The average CQ score was 70.25 (13.20). According to self-reported customer quality score, all participants achieved the scores at the level of stage one. Some (9.2%) of participants didn’t reach the action stage (stag three), then 90.8% took action in facing with health related problem and finally only 19.8% of participant achieved highest level of Self-management. Customer Quality score of employed patients (P=0.026) and patient who had active disease (P =0.030) were significantly. Customer quality scores of illiterate participants were lower than that of the educated (P= 0.001). Conclusion: According to overall score of customer quality, findings indicate the necessity of patients' involvement in care process and self-thought behavior-change skills for ongoing self-management and enhancing their self care abilities in daily life
