    Dietary tuna hydrolysate modulates growth performance, immune response, intestinal morphology and resistance to Streptococcus iniae in juvenile barramundi, Lates calcarifer

    This study investigated the effects of tuna hydrolysate (TH) inclusion in fishmeal (FM) based diets on the growth performance, innate immune response, intestinal health and resistance to Streptococcus iniae infection in juvenile barramundi, Lates calcarifer. Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic experimental diets were prepared with TH, replacing FM at levels of 0% (control) 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%, and fed fish to apparent satiation three times daily for 8 weeks. The results showed that fish fed diets containing 5% and 10% TH had significantly higher final body weight and specific growth rate than the control. A significant reduction in blood glucose was found in fish fed 10%, 15% and 20% TH compared to those in the control whereas none of the other measured blood and serum indices were influenced by TH inclusion. Histological observation revealed a significant enhancement in goblet cell numbers in distal intestine of fish fed 5 to 10% TH in the diet. Moreover, fish fed 10% TH exhibited the highest resistance against Streptococcus iniae infection during a bacterial challenge trial. These findings therefore demonstrate that the replacement of 5 to 10% FM with TH improves growth, immune response, intestinal health and disease resistance in juvenile barramundi

    Mutations in the histone methyltransferase gene KMT2B cause complex early-onset dystonia.

    Histone lysine methylation, mediated by mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) proteins, is now known to be critical in the regulation of gene expression, genomic stability, cell cycle and nuclear architecture. Despite MLL proteins being postulated as essential for normal development, little is known about the specific functions of the different MLL lysine methyltransferases. Here we report heterozygous variants in the gene KMT2B (also known as MLL4) in 27 unrelated individuals with a complex progressive childhood-onset dystonia, often associated with a typical facial appearance and characteristic brain magnetic resonance imaging findings. Over time, the majority of affected individuals developed prominent cervical, cranial and laryngeal dystonia. Marked clinical benefit, including the restoration of independent ambulation in some cases, was observed following deep brain stimulation (DBS). These findings highlight a clinically recognizable and potentially treatable form of genetic dystonia, demonstrating the crucial role of KMT2B in the physiological control of voluntary movement.Funding for the project was provided by the Wellcome Trust for UK10K (WT091310) and DDD Study. Discussion -- Chapter 6. Conclusion.Green Statements are at the forefront of public institutional communications. As the key form of environmental organisational disclosure, Green Statements are a valuable tool which can enhance the communicative capacity of an organisation. However, most current studies have fallen short of adequately examining the content of Green Statements. This thesis will aim to investigate the content and evolution of green statements over time. Additionally, this thesis will also investigate the role of IS in influencing green statement development. The thesis will undertake a qualitative thematic analysis in order to identify the key themes present within organisational Green Statements. Data is collected from listed entities within the ASX200 in Australia with an extensive history of environmental reporting. Following the data collection phase, the data is processed by the thematic analysis software: Leximancer; sorted by the dimensions of industry and year. These results are then viewed through the lens of Engeström’s Activity theory, which is utilised as a framework for data analysis. It is revealed that there are three main types of Green Statement themes: Resource, Technological and Initiative-based.
