Bioactive compounds in the peel of camu camu genotypes from Embrapa's active germplasm bank.

    Get PDF
Our objective in this work was to evaluate the contents of the major bioactive compounds in the peel of three genotypes of camu camu at different maturity stages. The genotypes had high concentration of ascorbic acid in the peel ranging from 13.73% to 24.02%. In the ripe maturity stage the genotypes 17 and 44 presented the highest concentration of phenolics (3,299.97 mg GAE.100 g-1) and anthocyanins (165.91 g.100 g-1). Flavonols and carotenoids showed a distinct and statistically different behavior in each genotype. Genotype 44 in the ripe stage had the highest content of carotenoids (105.88 mg.100 g-1). The high contents of vitamin C and phenolic compounds make the residue of camu camu fruit processing a rich source of antioxidants to the food and/or pharmaceutical industries

Effect of levels of polymaleic acid on the structural stability of saline soils.

The effect of levels of polymaleic acid was studied on the structural stability of two saline soils exposed to intensive cultivation. Soil samples with undisturbed structure were collected and placed in containers where levels polymaleic acid (0, 10, 20 and 30L/ha) were applied diluted water, in order to raise the moisture up to field capacity. One week later, controlled drip irrigation was applied using a volume corresponding to the pluviometric precipitation of the areas where the samples were collected. The washed soil samples were taken from the containers with the objective of lowering the moisture and separating the aggregates, considering those which passed through a 4 mm sieve and were retained in a 2 mm sieve. From each soil type, four bags of aggregates weighting 1 kg were taken, received a second application of the same levels of the polymer diluted in the irrigation water, adjusting the moisture of the samples of aggregates to 80% of the field capacity. The plastic bags with the humid samples were weighted and closed to keep the moisture uniform. Three subsamples from each bag were taken every 30 days to determine the weighed mean diameter (WMD) of the aggregates up to 150 days. After washing the soil with distilled water, WMD of the aggregates was reduced in the two soil types, in different proportions. The highest levels caused a lower reduction on the stability grade, showing the role of the polymer on protection of the aggregates against disintegration. After 30 days of the second application of the polymer on washed aggregates, WMD started to increase differently for all the treatments, showing is effect on increasing structural stability of the soils

The Analyticity of a Generalized Ruelle's Operator

In this work we propose a generalization of the concept of Ruelle operator for one dimensional lattices used in thermodynamic formalism and ergodic optimization, which we call generalized Ruelle operator, that generalizes both the Ruelle operator proposed in [BCLMS] and the Perron Frobenius operator defined in [Bowen]. We suppose the alphabet is given by a compact metric space, and consider a general a-priori measure to define the operator. We also consider the case where the set of symbols that can follow a given symbol of the alphabet depends on such symbol, which is an extension of the original concept of transition matrices from the theory of subshifts of finite type. We prove the analyticity of the Ruelle operator and present some examples

ABSTRACT Carbohydrate prior intake on glycemic response in gym practitionersThe carbohydrate is na important source of energy and its prior consumption to the exercise in a appropriate way assists mantains glycemia and minimization of depletion during trainning. The main of this work was analyse the carbohydrate prior intake on glycemic response in gym practitioners in Volta Redonda-RJ. In relation with carbohydrate consumption before trainning, the most of them (89,5%) consumes the nutrient in a wrong way. By means of capilar glycemia pré-trainning was 109 ± 11,80 mg/dL, during trainning was 104 ± 9,04 mg/dL and after trainning was 100 ± 12,29 mg/dL. It was observed correlation among carbohydrate prior ingestion and pré-trainning glycemia (r= 0,319; p< 0,01). In spite of the carbohydrate prior consumption of the most practitioners was wrong, there is no significant glycemia decay. The carbohydrate is na important source of energy and its prior consumption to the exercise in a appropriate way assists mantains glycemia and minimization of depletion during trainning.
