Towards technological rules for designing innovation networks: a dynamic capabilities view.
Inter-organizational innovation networks provide opportunities to exploit complementary resources that reside beyond the boundary of the firm. The shifting locus of innovation and value creation away from the âsole firm as innovatorâ poses important questions about the nature of these resources and the capabilities needed to leverage them for competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is to describe research into producing design-oriented knowledge, for configuring inter-organizational networks as a means of accessing such resources for innovation
The Distribution of Revenues From State-Collected Consumer Taxes
Evaluating research - Peer review team assessment and journal-based bibliographic measures: New Zealand PBRF research output scores in 2006
This paper concerns the relationship between the assessment of the research of individual academics by peer or expert review teams with a variety of bibliometric schemes based on journal quality weights. Specifically, for a common group of economists from New Zealand departments of economics the relationship between Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) Research Output measures for those submitting new research portfolios in 2006 are compared with evaluations of journal based research over the 2000-2005 assessment period. This comparison identifies the journal weighting schemes that appear most similar to PBRF peer evaluations. The paper provides an indication of the âpower or aggressivenessâ of PBRF evaluations in terms of the weighting given to quality. The implied views of PBRF peer review teams are also useful in assessing common assumptions made in evaluating journal based research
Genocide in the Old Testament?
This study examines the warfare commanded by God during the invasion of Canaan by Joshua. These battles were examples of áž„erem warfare in which Yahweh Himself initiated and waged war against the Canaanites. Through historical and Biblical study it becomes clear that the Canaanites were an extraordinarily wicked people and God exercised great patience in dealing with them before their final destruction. Furthermore, the invasion of Canaan was instrumental in Godâs larger salvation history. Sadly, pain and death are the direct ramifications of manâs sinful rebellion against God. The themes of war and condemnation are in theological continuity with the rest of the Bible, especially the return of Christ and final judgment

Resource Contention in Real-time Systems
The divideâandâconquer method is extensively used for system design. For real-time systems the separated components execute concurrently using some common computational infrastructure and this can lead to contention for system resources, such as processors, memory, communication channels, and so on. Unless the resource contention is accommodated, then a system built from the composition of components may not function as expected and the âprovenâ behaviour of the components can be invalid. To overcome this uncertainty a divideâconquerâandâsystem-composition method is required. This thesis takes a different approach to many of the existing notations which focus on descriptions of behaviour. The Composite Transition System notation and algebra presented here enables the resource usage of the components to be specified and combined to form a composite system of concurrently executing components. By relating the composite system to the realisable behaviour of the system resources provided by the common infrastructure it becomes possible to determine any violation of the constraints imposed by the system resources. If the composite system model is then constrained by the resource behaviours then it is possible through an extraction operation to determine the modified behaviour of the components that will yield a system free of resource contention. Component specification, concurrent composition, the application of system level constraints and extraction are applied in this thesis to a system encountered in a commercial application. The purpose of this example is to demonstrate contention modelling and the mathematics of the notation, rather than to prove any specific properties of the application. Deployment of the notation to more complex applications will require the development of software tools to compute concurrent composition and extraction, and this is the motivation for the mathematical treatment in this thesis
Building a new life in Australia: introducing the longitudinal study of humanitarian migrants
Introduces a study aimed to shed light on the settlement pathways and outcomes of newly arrived humanitarian migrants, focusing particularly on the factors that promote or hinder a successful transition.
Introduction
Building a New Life in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Humanitarian Migrants is a newly initiated study that aims to better understand the factors that aid or hinder the successful settlement of humanitarian migrants in Australia, and to provide an evidence base to inform policy and program development. This ground-breaking longitudinal study will employ annual data collections over five years to trace the settlement journey of humanitarian migrants from their arrival in Australia through to their eligibility for citizenship. All study participants have received a permanent humanitarian visa enabling them to settle in Australia, granted either before their arrival in Australia as part of Australia\u27s refugee program, or since their arrival, through Australia\u27s asylum seeker humanitarian program. Study participants have come from a diverse range of backgrounds and a multitude of migration pathways.
Three broad research questions guide the study:
What are the settlement outcomes of humanitarian migrants? How are they faring in terms of their English language proficiency, housing circumstances, labour force participation, use of qualifications, income, physical and mental health, community engagement, citizenship and level of satisfaction with life in Australia?
How does access to and use of government and non-government services and welfare benefits contribute to humanitarian migrants\u27 successful settlement?
Do the settlement experiences and outcomes of humanitarian migrants vary according to the differing migration pathways taken?
The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) has been commissioned by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) (formerly the Department of Immigration and Citizenship [DIAC]) to undertake and manage the project. Colmar Brunton Social Research, in conjunction with Multicultural Marketing and Management, is the fieldwork agency undertaking the data collection for the project. From April 2014, responsibility for the study moved from the DIBP to the Department of Social Services
Post Installation Inspection for All Storm Drain Pipes
This session teaches common practices to protect the ownerâs best interest by ensuring all storm drain and culvert pipes in their system have been properly installed and that the pipeline system is uncompromised. Post installation inspection (PII) provides the owner with the information needed to determine if proper installation occurred prior to project close-out or final acceptance
