A Time-Periodic Lyapunov Approach for Motion Planning of Controllable Driftless Systems on SU(n)
For a right-invariant and controllable driftless system on SU(n), we consider
a time-periodic reference trajectory along which the linearized control system
generates su(n): such trajectories always exist and constitute the basic
ingredient of Coron's Return Method. The open-loop controls that we propose,
which rely on a left-invariant tracking error dynamics and on a fidelity-like
Lyapunov function, are determined from a finite number of left-translations of
the tracking error and they assure global asymptotic convergence towards the
periodic reference trajectory. The role of these translations is to avoid being
trapped in the critical region of this Lyapunov-like function. The convergence
proof relies on a periodic version of LaSalle's invariance principle and the
control values are determined by numerical integration of the dynamics of the
system. Simulations illustrate the obtained controls for and the
generation of the C--NOT quantum gate.Comment: Submitte
Estimations for the Single Diffractive production of the Higgs boson at the Tevatron and the LHC
The single diffractive production of the standard model Higgs boson is
computed using the diffractive factorization formalism, taking into account a
parametrization for the Pomeron structure function provided by the H1
Collaboration. We compute the cross sections at next-to-leading order accuracy
for the gluon fusion process, which includes QCD and electroweak corrections.
The gap survival probability () is also introduced to account for
the rescattering corrections due to spectator particles present in the
interaction, and to this end we compare two different models for the survival
factor. The diffractive ratios are predicted for proton-proton collisions at
the Tevatron and the LHC for the Higgs boson mass of = 120 GeV.
Therefore, our results provide updated estimations for the diffractive ratios
of the single diffractive production of the Higgs boson in the Tevatron and LHC
kinematical regimes.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figures, 3 table

Dynamics of a Generalized Cosmological Scalar-Tensor Theory
A generalized scalar-tensor theory is investigated whose cosmological term
depends on both a scalar field and its time derivative. A correspondence with
solutions of five-dimensional Space-Time-Matter theory is noted. Analytic
solutions are found for the scale factor, scalar field and cosmological term.
Models with free parameters of order unity are consistent with recent
observational data and could be relevant to both the dark-matter and
cosmological-"constant" problems.Comment: 13 page
Depth of sulfur fertilization as affecting nodulation and grain yield of common bean.
Depth of sulfur (S) fertilization can affect common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) development and a better understanding of its interaction with plant nodulation could help to improve common bean grain yield in soils under Cerrado. The objective of this study was to determine nodulation, grain yield and yield components of common bean as affected by rates and deep of S fertilization. The experimental designed was a randomized block in a factorial arrangement 4 x 2, with four replications. Treatments were the combination of sulfur rates (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha-1) at two depths (0.06 and 0.12 m) in two growing season (2014 and 2015). S fertilization depth did not affect number of nodules, root and shoot dry matter of common bean. The application of S in the uppermost layer provided significant increases in the number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and grain yield of common bean. Fertilization with S provided significant increases in grain yield of common bean. Thus, the sulfated fertilization should be considered in farming systems aiming for high yields
Synthesis of novel O-acylated-D-ribono-1,5-lactones and structural assignment supported by conventional NOESY-NMR and x-ray analysis
A practical method for the structural assignment of 3,4-O-benzylidene-D-ribono-1,5-lactones and analogues using conventional NMR techniques and NOESY measurements in solution is described. 2-O-Acyl-3,4-O-benzylidene-D-ribono-1,5-lactones were prepared in good yields by acylation of Zinner’s lactone with acyl chlorides under mildly basic conditions. Structural determination of 2-O-(4-nitrobenzoyl)-3,4-O-benzylidene-D-ribono-1,5-lactone was achieved by single crystal x-ray diffraction, which supports the results based on spectroscopic data.
The CDM growth rate of structure revisited
We re-examine the growth index of the concordance cosmology in the
light of the latest 6dF and {\em WiggleZ} data. In particular, we investigate
five different models for the growth index , by comparing their
cosmological evolution using observational data of the growth rate of structure
formation at different redshifts. Performing a joint likelihood analysis of the
recent supernovae type Ia data, the Cosmic Microwave Background shift
parameter, Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations and the growth rate data, we
determine the free parameters of the parametrizations and we
statistically quantify their ability to represent the observations. We find
that the addition of the 6dF and {\em WiggleZ} growth data in the likelihood
analysis improves significantly the statistical results. As an example,
considering a constant growth index we find and

Anisotropic elastic theory of preloaded granular media
A macroscopic elastic description of stresses in static, preloaded granular
media is derived systematically from the microscopic elasticity of individual
inter-grain contacts. The assumed preloaded state and friction at contacts
ensure that the network of inter-grain contacts is not altered by small
perturbations. The texture of this network, set by the preparation of the
system, is encoded in second and fourth order fabric tensors. A small
perturbation generates both normal and tangential inter-grain forces, the
latter causing grains to reorient. This reorientation response and the
incremental stress are expressed in terms of the macroscopic strain.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures. Accepted version. [email protected]
