    Real-Time Sign Language Translator

    Get PDF
Sign language is so widespread that people with hearing/speech impairments are familiar with it, and others are unfamiliar with it. As a result, there is a significant communication gap between people with speech and hearing impairments and the rest of the general population. A human sign language interpreter is a common solution for bridging this gap. However, because the number of sign language interpreters is small in comparison to the number of deaf and mute people in the world, some deaf and mute people cannot afford to use a human interpreter all of the time when communicating with others. This communication must be automated so that the deaf-mute community does not rely on human interpreters. This paper focuses on developing a system that can translate American Sign Language into words/sentences and vice versa in real-time, with some extra features that will help remove the communication barrier between ordinary and hearing/talking impaired people. The main function is to detect and identify sign language performed by the user. Initially, the system is trained to detect and identify signs using object detection and motion-tracking techniques. A convolutional neural network model was trained on a manually created ASL data set. The identified signs are then translated into English to form grammatically correct sentences. A text-to-text transformer built on an encoder-decoder architecture is used to detect grammatical errors and provide correct sentences. To further improve effectiveness, the system incorporates a feature to translate an image containing English text into American Sign Language. Furthermore, the system consists of a voice-to-sign language translator and a virtual sign keyboard. The methodology has been explained in further sections

Computerized Stock and Employee Management System for a Garment Factory

The purpose of this research was point out the management complexity of internal affairs of garment factories. Garment factories are type of complex systems with several divisions that cannot be managed manually. Today in Sri Lanka, most of garment factories are conducted their processes separately in division wise. In this proposed system, stock, employee, supply and suppliers, and delivery management can be done together in a single system. Getting the appropriate material, in the right quantity, at the right time is a primary objective of supply and suppliers management. It confirms the supplier's stability and dependability. Purchasing is a critical and specialized role within a garment firm. This system provides a feature to store placed orders and their confirmed delivery date, and the procedure that is computerized. In essence, the receiving, storing, and distributing of supplies fall under the purview of the stock management. After stores the items while preventing deteriorations or harms that can be occurred, this division releases the stock also.[6] the proposed web application for a garment factory management system developed using mern stack (mongo db, express js, react js, node js). The system has four main functionalities for employee management, supplier management, inventory management, buyers, and delivery management. This system will give solutions to problems in currently using applications. For this application, microsoft azure boards, github, sonarqube, and selenium ide are used for project management, version control, checking code quality, and testing

Wilson chains are not thermal reservoirs

Wilson chains, based on a logarithmic discretization of a continuous spectrum, are widely used to model an electronic (or bosonic) bath for Kondo spins and other quantum impurities within the numerical renormalization group method and other numerical approaches. In this short note we point out that Wilson chains can not serve as thermal reservoirs as their temperature changes by a number of order Delta E when a finite amount of energy Delta E is added. This proves that for a large class of non-equilibrium problems they cannot be used to predict the long-time behavior.Comment: 2 page

Evidência de infecção por Leishmania (Leishmania) infantum em cães de Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brasil, detectada pelo teste imunocromatográfico rápido DPP e PCR

In Brazil, domestic dogs are branded as the primary reservoir for zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis, due to the clear positive correlation observed between human and canine infection rates. This study aimed to carry out a serological survey of canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL) in dogs housed at a public kennel in the municipality of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, using the immunochromatographic TR DPP® CVL rapid test. Additionally, conventional and/or real time PCR assay was used to detect and confirm L. infantum infection in the DPP positive dogs only. Of the 400 dogs studied, most did not present clinical signs for CVL (p ; 0.05). Both conventional and real time PCR tests confirmed L. infantum infection in nine (75.0%) of the twelve DPP seropositive dogs that remained alive during the follow-up period. This study is the first seroepidemiologic survey of CVL held in the city of Juiz de Fora, and the results reinforce the idea that this disease is currently in a process of expansion and urbanization in Brazil. Furthermore, this study highlights the use of the DPP test as an alternative for diagnosing CVL in large and mid-sized cities, due to its ease of implementation.

Searching for star-planet magnetic interaction in CoRoT observations

Close-in massive planets interact with their host stars through tidal and magnetic mechanisms. In this paper, we review circumstantial evidence for star-planet interaction as revealed by the photospheric magnetic activity in some of the CoRoT planet-hosting stars, notably CoRoT-2, CoRoT-4, and CoRoT-6. The phenomena are discussed in the general framework of activity-induced features in stars accompanied by hot Jupiters. The theoretical mechanisms proposed to explain the activity enhancements possibly related with hot Jupiter are also briefly reviewed with an emphasis on the possible effects at photospheric level. The unique advantages of CoRoT and Kepler observations to test these models are pointed out.Comment: Invited review paper accepted by Astrophysics and Space Science, 13 pages, 5 figure

The Infrared Behaviour of the Pure Yang-Mills Green Functions

We review the infrared properties of the pure Yang-Mills correlators and discuss recent results concerning the two classes of low-momentum solutions for them reported in literature; i.e. decoupling and scaling solutions. We will mainly focuss on the Landau gauge and pay special attention to the results inferred from the analysis of the Dyson-Schwinger equations of the theory and from "{\it quenched}" lattice QCD. The results obtained from properly interplaying both approaches are strongly emphasized.Comment: Final version to be published in FBS (54 pgs., 11 figs., 4 tabs
