On monitoring of multiple non-linear profiles
Most state-of-the-art profile monitoring methods involve studies of one profile. However, a process may contain several sensors or probes that generate multiple profiles over time. Quality characteristics presented in multiple profiles may be related multiple aspects of product or process quality. Existing charting methods for simultaneous monitoring of each multiple profile may result in high false alarm rates. Or worse, they cannot correctly detect potential relationship changes among profiles. In this study, we propose two approaches to detect process shifts in multiple non-linear profiles. A simulation study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed approaches in terms of average run length under different process shift scenarios. Pros and cons of the proposed methods are discussed. A guideline for choosing the proposed methods is introduced. In addition, a hybrid method combining the salient points of both approaches is explored. Finally, a real-world data-set from a vulcanisation process is used to demonstrate the implementation of the proposed methods
Sustained Robust Exciton Emission in Suspended Monolayer WSe_2 within the Low Carrier Density Regime for Quantum Emitter Applications
The development of semiconductor optoelectronic devices is moving toward low
power consumption and miniaturization, especially for high-efficiency quantum
emitters. However, most of these quantum sources work at low carrier density
region, where the Shockley-Read-Hall recombination may dominant and seriously
reduce the emission efficiency. In order to diminish the affection of carrier
trapping and sustain a strong photoluminescence emission under low power
pumping condition, we investigated on the influence of Suspending to
monolayered tungsten diselenide, novel two-dimensional quantum material. Not
only the PL intensity, but also the fundamental photoluminescence quantum yield
has exhibited a huge, order-scale enhancement through suspending, even
surprisingly, we found the PLQY improvement revealed far significantly under
small pumping power and came out an exponential increase tendency toward even
lower carrier density region. With its strong excitonic effect, suspended WSe_2
offers a solution to reduce carrier trapping and participate in non-radiative
processes. Moreover, in the low-power range where SRH recombination dominates,
suspended WSe_2 exhibited remarkably higher percentage of excitonic radiation
compared to contacted WSe_2. Herein, we quantitatively demonstrate the
significance of suspended WSe_2 monolayer at low carrier density region,
highlighting its potential for developing compact, low-power quantum emitters
in the future
Water Resources Management in Practices at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology Campus
NPUST was the top Taiwan university for the 9th consecutive year on the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, and placed 27th out of 1,050 schools from 85 countries. This achievement is the result of our commitments to sustainable development. NPUST has been building green transportation for carbon and air pollution reduction, green energy system for effective use of electricity generated by renewable energy, and campus waste water recycling system for the goal of zero discharge. We also implement policies on waste reduction and waste sorting and recycling, as well as encourage planting in school campus. The practice of water resources management is crucial in various aspects that contribute to this sustainable campus. Influence of electrode thermal conductivity on resistive switching behavior during reset process
Resistive random access memory (RRAM) is the most promising candidate for non-volatile memory (NVM) due to its extremely low operation voltage, extremely fast write/erase speed, and excellent scaling capability. However, an obstacle hindering mass production of RRAM is the non-uniform physical mechanism in its resistance switching process. This study examines the influence of different electrode thermal conductivity on switching behavior during the reset process. Electrical analysis methods and an analysis of current conduction mechanism indicate that better thermal conductivity in the electrode will require larger input power in order to induce more active oxygen ions to take part in the reset process. More active oxygen ions cause a more complete reaction during the reset process, and cause the effective switching gap (dsw) to become thicker. The effect of the electrode thermal conductivity and input power are explained by our model and clarified by electrical analysis methods.

Genome-wide analysis of the cis-regulatory modules of divergent gene pairs in yeast
AbstractIn budding yeast, approximately a quarter of adjacent genes are divergently transcribed (divergent gene pairs). Whether genes in a divergent pair share the same regulatory system is still unknown. By examining transcription factor (TF) knockout experiments, we found that most TF knockout only altered the expression of one gene in a divergent pair. This prompted us to conduct a comprehensive analysis in silico to estimate how many divergent pairs are regulated by common sets of TFs (cis-regulatory modules, CRMs) using TF binding sites and expression data. Analyses of ten expression datasets show that only a limited number of divergent gene pairs share CRMs in any single dataset. However, around half of divergent pairs do share a regulatory system in at least one dataset. Our analysis suggests that genes in a divergent pair tend to be co-regulated in at least one condition; however, in most conditions, they may not be co-regulated
THE VARIATION OF DOMINANT ELBOW RANGE OF MOTION AMONG DIFFERENT MATURE STAGE FOR BASEBALL PITCHERS
The purpose of this study was to examine the variation of elbow range of motion (ROM) in the dominant arm between different maturity levels in baseball pitchers. Sixty-two pitchers, including 17 early-puberty players, 22 later-puberty players, and 23 adult players, participated in this study. A goniometer was used to assess elbow ROM in the dominant arms, including elbow flexion, hyper-extension, supination, pronation and valgus angles. Reduced Health-Related Quality of Life in Body Constitutions of Yin-Xu, and Yang-Xu, Stasis in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: Taichung Diabetic Body Constitution Study
Aim. To evaluate how health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitutions of Yin-Xu, Yang-Xu, and Stasis are related in type 2 diabetes patients. Method. Seven hundred and five subjects were recruited in 2010 for this study from a Diabetes Shared Care Network in Taiwan. Generic and disease-specific HRQOL were assessed by the short form 36 (SF-36) and the diabetes impact measurement scale (DIMS). Constitutions of Yin-Xu, Yang-Xu, and Stasis were then assessed by the body constitution questionnaire (BCQ), a questionnaire consisting of 44 items that evaluate the physiological state based on subjective symptoms and signs. Results. Estimated effects of the Ying-Xu and Stasis on all scales of the SF-36 were significantly negative, while estimated effects of the Yang-Xu on all scales (except for SF, RE, MH, and MCS) were significantly negative. For DIMS, the estimated effects of the Ying-Xu and Stasis on all scales were significantly negative except for Stasis on well-being, while Yang-Xu has a significantly negative effect only on symptoms. Conclusions. This study demonstrates that TCM constitutions of Yin-Xu, Yang-Xu, and Stasis are closely related to a reduction in HRQOL. These findings support the need for further research into the impact of intervention for TCM constitutions on HRQOL in patients with type 2 diabetes
