Friction stir welding (FSW) process of copper alloys

    Get PDF
The present paper analyzes the structure of the weld joint of technically pure copper, which is realized using friction stir welding (FSW). The mechanism of thermo-mechanical processes of the FSW method has been identified and a correlation between the weld zone and its microstructure established. Parameters of the FSW welding technology influencing the zone of the seam material and the mechanical properties of the resulting joint were analyzed. The physical joining consists of intense mixing the base material along the joint line in the “doughy” phase. Substantial plastic deformations immediately beneath the frontal surface of tool provide fine-grained structure and a good quality joint. The optimum shape of the tool and the optimum welding regime (pressure force, rotation speed and the traverse speed of the tool) in the heat affected zone enable the achievement of the same mechanical properties as those of the basic material, which justifies its use in welding reliable structures

First steps towards national radon action plan in Serbia

Radon problem has a special attention in many countries in the world and the most of them have established national radon programmes. The radon issues in Serbia have not been approached in a systematic and organized way. Currently, there are many research groups and institutions working in radon field, and it is a good basis to integrate all these activities into a comprehensive national programme to define the strategic objectives and action plan for the next few years. Also, Serbia as a candidate for membership in the EU is obliged to harmonize its legislation, including the field of radiation protection in which the radon issues has an important role. In this report, a brief history of radon research, present status and plans for the future activity on radon issues in Serbia are presented. Regarding the long-term plans, the establishment and implementation of the Radon Action Plan with the primary goal of raising awareness about the harmful effects of public exposure to radon and implementing a set of measures for its reduction. In that sense, the synergy between the national, regional and local organizations responsible for public health and radiation protection must be achieved

Molecular evidence for increased hematopoietic proliferation in the spleen of the b/b laboratory rat

The splenomegaly and the appearance of a significant number of CFU-E (erythroid colony-forming units) and BFU-E(1) (erythroid burst-forming units) in the Belgrade laboratory rat (b/b) spleen prompted us to analyse further the molecular evidence for increased hematopoietic proliferation in the b/b spleen. Messenger RNAs (mRNAs) specific for globins, proteins for iron transport and deposition and the band 3 protein were used in rat erythropoietic tissues as markers for proliferation and erythroid differentiation. In the b/b spleen, all mRNAs analysed display an erythroid-specific pattern of expression. This analysis also revealed an enhanced level of mRNA for ferritin in the +/b spleen, whereas erythrocyte-specific mRNA production was normal

Modelling of the substance transfer in the gas-liquid system with chemical reaction

    No full text
In this paper substance transfer phenomena in the multistage reactive system were investigated.Substance transfer between liquid and gas phases in a distillation packed column with reactionesterification was examined. Efficiency of substance transfer were examined by HTU-Height of transferunits and volumetric substance transfer coefficients. The esterification reaction of the ethanol andacetic acid was examined. Based on derived mathematical model the total height of transfer units andindividual height of transfer units for the liquid and gas phases were determined. The investigation wasperformed by computer simulation and experiments. Several correlation models for HTU/NTU andsubstance transfer coefficients were studied. The correlations for component transfer were derived inquaternary systems ethanol-ethyl acetate-acetic acid -water
