The Effect of Changes in Tick Price and Lot Size on Stock Liquidity: Evidence from Indonesia Stock Market

    Get PDF
New regulation in the tick price and lot size was implemented in Indonesia Stock Exchange on 6 January 2014. This research aims to examine the effects of the changes toward stock liquidity. Comparison of stock liquidity measurement variables before and after the event is conducted with 15 days window period. 370 stocks fulfilled the criterion and used as sample in this paper. This study employs paired sample t-test for normally distributed data and Wilcoxon test for not normally distributed data to assess mean significant differences before and after the event. Result shows that to some extent, the event enhanced stock liquidity

Digital Pattern Recognition for the Identification of Various Hypospadias Parameters via an Artificial Neural Network: Protocol for the Development and Validation of a System and Mobile App

BackgroundHypospadias remains the most prevalent congenital abnormality in boys worldwide. However, the limited infrastructure and number of pediatric urologists capable of diagnosing and managing the condition hinder the management of hypospadias in Indonesia. The use of artificial intelligence and image recognition is thought to be beneficial in improving the management of hypospadias cases in Indonesia. ObjectiveWe aim to develop and validate a digital pattern recognition system and a mobile app based on an artificial neural network to determine various parameters of hypospadias. MethodsHypospadias and normal penis images from an age-matched database will be used to train the artificial neural network. Images of 3 aspects of the penis (ventral, dorsal, and lateral aspects, which include the glans, shaft, and scrotum) will be taken from each participant. The images will be labeled with the following hypospadias parameters: hypospadias status, meatal location, meatal shape, the quality of the urethral plate, glans diameter, and glans shape. The data will be uploaded to train the image recognition model. Intrarater and interrater analyses will be performed, using the test images provided to the algorithm. ResultsOur study is at the protocol development stage. A preliminary study regarding the system’s development and feasibility will start in December 2022. The results of our study are expected to be available by the end of 2023. ConclusionsA digital pattern recognition system using an artificial neural network will be developed and designed to improve the diagnosis and management of patients with hypospadias, especially those residing in regions with limited infrastructure and health personnel. Iron (II) impregnated double-shelled hollow mesoporous silica as acid-base bifunctional catalyst for the conversion of low-quality oil to methyl esters

    No full text
To promote the use of low-quality oils in producing biodiesel, a bifunctional acid-base catalyst Fe/DSHMS-NH2 is fabricated using the two-step condensation technique. The obtained Fe/DS-HMS-NH2 is of a doubled shell structure in spherical shape with a uniform size of 156 nm. Its hollow core (with a diameter of 86 nm) and two spatial shells with different active sites enables the esterification and transesterification reactions to be accomplished in a one-pot synthesis. The influences of four independent reaction variables on the yield of fatty acid methyl esters YF was studied, including catalyst loading mc, reaction time t, reaction temperature T, and the methanol to degummed palm oil mass ratio rm/o. The highest yield was obtained at 85.36% (w/w) when mc ¼ 6% (w/w), t ¼ 4.5 h, T ¼ 60 C, and rm/o ¼ 6:1. The Fe/DS-HMS-NH2 shows a good recyclability with YF > 80% (w/w) up to three reaction cycles

pH-responsive hollow core zeolitic-imidazolate framework-8 as an effective drug carrier of 5-fluorouracil

To enhance the porosity and accessibility, a novel drug carrier, the hollow core zeolitic-imidazolate +-Framework-8 (HZIF-8), is designed using polystyrene as a hard template to sequentially load and release 5-fluorouracil (FU). HZIF-8 is signified by a large surface area and pore volume, reaching 1727.1 m2/g and 0.99 cm3/g, respectively. The obtained HZIF-8 exhibits rhombic dodecahedron morphology with a uniform particle size of 450 nm. The integrated hollow core is observed at ca. 180 nm. Evaluation of the FU encapsulation behavior in HZIF-8 nanospheres is demonstrated via the adsorption kinetics, isotherm, and thermodynamic studies. The maximum FU uptake is monitored at 40 C with the loading capacity of 161.9 mg/g. This study suggests that the FU uptake follows the pseudo-second-order law and multilayer mechanism. The governing mechanism is chemical binding in its first layer and physical interaction in the upper layers. The release study of FU from FU-loaded HZIF-8 shows that the cumulative release at pH 5.5 (92.03%) is four times higher than that at pH 7.4 (23.31%), indicating a stimulus-responsive release mechanism where pH is required as an internal stimulus factor
