Interplay between chiral and axial symmetries in a SU(2) Nambu--Jona-Lasinio Model with the Polyakov loop

We consider a two flavor Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model where the Lagrangian includes an interaction term that explicitly breaks the U$_A(1)$ anomaly. At finite temperature, the restoration of chiral and axial symmetries, signaled by the behavior of several observables, is investigated. We compare the effects of two regularizations at finite temperature, one of them, that allows high momentum quarks states, leading to the full recovery of chiral symmetry. From the analysis of the behavior of the topological susceptibility and of the mesonic masses of the axial partners, it is found in the SU(2) model that, unlike the SU(3) results, the recovery of the axial symmetry is not a consequence of the full recovery of the chiral symmetry. Thus, one needs to use an additional idea, by means of a temperature dependence of the anomaly coefficient, that simulates instanton suppression effects.Comment: 21 pages, 5 figures; PRD versio

Magnetic Properties of the Metamagnet Ising Model in a three-dimensional Lattice in a Random and Uniform Field

By employing the Monte Carlo technique we study the behavior of Metamagnet Ising Model in a random field. The phase diagram is obtained by using the algorithm of Glaubr in a cubic lattice of linear size $L$ with values ranging from 16 to 42 and with periodic boundary conditions.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figure

Gauge Theories with Lorentz-Symmetry Violation by Symplectic Projector Method

The violation of Lorentz symmetry is studied from the point of view of a canonical formulation. We make the usual analysis on the constraints structure of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw model. In this context we derive the equations of motion for the physical variables and check out the dispersion relations obtained from them. Therefore, by the analysis using Symplectic Projector Method (SPM), we can check the results about this type of Lorentz breaking with those in the recent literature: in this sense we can confirm that the configuration of $v^{\mu}$ space-like is stable, and the $v^{\mu}$ time-like carry tachionic modes.Comment: 7 pages and no figure
