    Waste is something material or solid objects that are no longer used by humans and discarded. Worse system of waste management can be a negative impact on health. In addition to infecting the skin, the disease can be congenital garbage worm infections. One of the people at risk for skin disorders and intestinal worms are officers garbage. It is necessary to know the relationship between personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer in 2012. This research is analytic survey research to a sample of 45 respondents were selected by simple random sampling method. The method used was interviews using questionnaires and took examinations on faecal worm respondent. The results showed that all respondents have good personal hygiene in the category so that data analysis can not be done. Fisher's exact test results, there was no significant relationship between the use of personal protective equipment with complaints of skin disorders (p = 0.321) and worms (p = 0.613). The Sanitation Department is expected in order to further improve sanitation and provide personal protective equipment for transporter officer. Also expected to cooperate with the Health Department in an effort to educate officers about personal hygiene and the using of personal protective equipment at work so they do not pay attention to personal hygiene and disease associated with waste

    The purpose of this study was the analysis of a correlation, in infertile patients, between the quality of the endometrium based on its vascularisation and the chances of conception. Hysteroscopy was carried out to determine the quality of the endometrial surface using the Sakumoto-Masamoto classification ("good” vs. "poor” endometrium) in the secretory phase of the menstrual cycle. The results were set in relation to the outcome of the subsequent infertility treatment, i.e. the establishment of a pregnancy within the study period (4years). In 108 (67%) of the 162 followed-up patients, the endometrium was endoscopically classified as "good”, while in 54 (33%) the result was "poor”. The overall pregnancy rate was 37% (60 patients); 47 of all pregnancies (78%) occurred in women with a "good” endometrium while 13 (22%) had a "poor” classification. This positive association between the establishment of a pregnancy in the follow-up and a "good" classification of the endometrial vasculature in the group with a "good" endometrium was significant (P = 0.0165, Fisher's exact test). This study confirms the usefulness of endometrial evaluation by hysteroscopy as a diagnostic instrument for providing a prognosis of the chance for the patients to become pregnan

    Effect of amino acid substitutions at the subunit interface on the stability and aggregation properties of a dimeric protein: role of Arg 178 and Arg 218 at the dimer interface of thymidylate synthase

    The significance of two interface arginine residues on the structural integrity of an obligatory dimeric enzyme thymidylate synthase (TS) from Lactobacillus casei was investigated by thermal and chemical denaturation. While the R178F mutant showed apparent stability to thermal denaturation by its decreased tendency to aggregate, the Tm of the R218K mutant was lowered by 5°C. Equilibrium denaturation studies in guanidinium chloride (GdmCl) and urea indicate that in both the mutants, replacement of Arg residues results in more labile quaternary and tertiary interactions. Circular dichroism studies in aqueous buffer suggest that the protein interior in R218K may be less well-packed as compared to the wild type protein. The results emphasize that quaternary interactions may influence the stability of the tertiary fold of TS. The amino acid replacements also lead to notable alteration in the ability of the unfolding intermediate of TS to aggregate. The aggregated state of partially unfolded intermediate in the R178F mutant is stable over a narrower range of denaturant concentrations. In contrast, there is an exaggerated tendency on the part of R218K to aggregate in intermediate concentrations of the denaturant. The 3 Å crystal structure of the R178F mutant reveals no major structural change as a consequence of amino acid substitution. The results may be rationalized in terms of mutational effects on both the folded and unfolded state of the protein. Site specific amino acid substitutions are useful in identifying specific regions of TS involved in association of non-native protein structures

    Materials that exhibit colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) are currently the focus of an intense research effort, driven by the technological applications that their sensitivity lends them to. Using the angular correlation of photons from electron-positron annihilation, we present a first glimpse of the Fermi surface of a material that exhibits CMR, supported by ``virtual crystal'' electronic structure calculations. The Fermi surface is shown to be sufficiently cubic in nature that it is likely to support nesting.Comment: 5 pages, 5 PS figure

    Deviations from Matthiessen's Rule for SrRuO3{\rm SrRuO_3} and CaRuO3{\rm CaRuO_3}

    Full text link
    We have measured the change in the resistivity of thin films of SrRuO3{\rm SrRuO_3} and CaRuO3{\rm CaRuO_3} upon introducing point defects by electron irradiation at low temperatures, and we find significant deviations from Matthiessen's rule. For a fixed irradiation dose, the induced change in resistivity {\it decreases} with increasing temperature. Moreover, for a fixed temperature, the increase in resistivity with irradiation is found to be {\it sublinear}. We suggest that the observed behavior is due to the marked anisotropic scattering of the electrons together with their relatively short mean free path (both characteristic of many metallic oxides including cuprates) which amplify effects related to the Pippard ineffectiveness condition
