The distribution over Greece of global solar radiation on a horizontal surface

    No full text
This paper presents the essential results for the spatial distribution of global solar radiation over Greece, on the basis of data from the country's network of actinometric, heliographic, and meteorological Stations for the period 1960-1977. A set of linear regression equations between daily global solar radiation and the duration of bright sunshine is solved for three stations in Greece which record both parameters, and the regression constants are calculated. Sunshine data from 30 stations distributed over Greece, together with measurements of global radiation on a horizontal plane at the abovementioned three stations, were used to estimate monthly averaged daily global solar radiation on a horizontal plane, and a set of maps for four representative months and for the whole year is presented, showing the variation of this radiation over Greece. It is considered that this analysis of measurements should closely represent the radiation climatology of Greece. © 1981
