    The clinical trials data is of critical importance in providing evidence to support a drug or biologic product efficacy and safety. Quality data, productivityand lower product costs are key considerations in drug development process and to maintain competitive edge.  Clinical Data Management(CDM) is a multistage process where various activities must be considered and decision taken in synergy and not sequentially; planned and executed according to the GCP (Good Clinical Practices) guidelines with highest standards.  During the course of development, implementation and standardization of CDM procedures in the context of vaccine trialsin an Indian pharmaceutical company, it emerged that multi-factormetrics based performancemonitoring of critical procedural stepshave synergistic impact in boosting overall in-time progression of the projectand meeting desired data quality.It is important to acknowledge domain knowledge in developing performance metrics by involvingmembers of cross-functional teams. This report summarizes possible methodologies which if adopted are likely to keep the team members updated with the project advancement. The proof of concept, createdin the form of metrics designed to drive performance improvement through appropriate levels of internal controls and characterizing progress made under each criteria, is expected to improve overall productivity by accomplishing the aim with desired quality and within stipulated time-frameby mitigating the errors.Key-words:Clinical Data Management (CDM), Indian Good Clinical Practices(GCP), CDM Metric

    Performance of wheat cultivars at varying fertility levels under system of wheat intensification and conventional method of wheat production system

    A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2009-10 at Ranchi, Jharkhand to evaluate the performance of wheat cultivars at varying fertility levels under system of wheat intensification and conventional method of cultivation. The morpho-physiological analysis of growth and yield in wheat revealed that system of wheatintensification manifested higher total tillers m-2, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate, number of spikes m-2, grains per spike and 1000-grain weight resulting in higher grain and straw yield over conventional method of cultivation. The net return and benefit: cost ratio as well as the nutrient uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash was also recorded significantly higher under system of wheat intensification. Higher fertility level of 120 kg N ha-1, 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 and 40 kg K2O ha-1 also significantly improved the plant height, total tillers m-2, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate, number of spikes m-2, grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, straw yield, net return, benefit: cost ratio and nutrient uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash. Among the wheat cultivars, K 9107 manifested significant improvement in growth attributes at all the growth stages resulting in significantly higher yield attributes, grain yield, straw yield, net return, benefit: cost ratio and nutrient uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potash than Birsa Gehu 3, HUW 468 and K 0307. Thus it can be concluded that the wheat variety K 9107 fertilized with 120 kg N ha-1, 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 and 40 kg K2O ha-1 under System of Wheat Intensification may able to boost up the wheat productivity under irrigated ecosystem of Chhotanagpur plateau region, India

    Exclusive light particle measurements for the system 19^{19}F + 12^{12}C at 96 MeV

    Decay sequence of hot {31}^P nucleus has been investigated through exclusive light charged particle measurements in coincidence with individual evaporation residues using the reaction {19}^F (96 MeV) + {12}^C. Information on the sequential decay chain have been extracted by confronting the data with the predictions of the statistical model. It is observed from the present analysis that such exclusive light charged particle data may be used as a powerful tool to probe the decay sequence of the hot light compound systems.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures, Physical Review C (in press

    Friedmann-like equations for High Energy Area of Universe

    In this paper, evolution of the high energy area of universe, through the scenario of 5 dimensional (5D) universe, has been studied. For this purpose, we solve Einstein equations for 5D metric and 5D perfect fuid to derive Friedmann-like equations. Then we obtain the evolution of scale factor and energy density with respect to both space-like and time-like extra dimensions. We obtain the novel equations for the space-like extra dimension and show that the matter with zero pressure cannot exist in the bulk.     Singular Scaling Functions in Clustering Phenomena

    We study clustering in a stochastic system of particles sliding down a fluctuating surface in one and two dimensions. In steady state, the density-density correlation function is a scaling function of separation and system size.This scaling function is singular for small argument -- it exhibits a cusp singularity for particles with mutual exclusion, and a divergence for noninteracting particles. The steady state is characterized by giant fluctuations which do not damp down in the thermodynamic limit. The autocorrelation function is a singular scaling function of time and system size. The scaling properties are surprisingly similar to those for particles moving in a quenched disordered environment that results if the surface is frozen.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, Invited talk delivered at Statphys 23, Genova, July 200

    Recovering Joys Law as a Function of Solar Cycle, Hemisphere, and Longitude

    Bipolar active regions in both hemispheres tend to be tilted with respect to the East West equator of the Sun in accordance with Joys law that describes the average tilt angle as a function of latitude. Mt. Wilson observatory data from 1917 to 1985 are used to analyze the active-region tilt angle as a function of solar cycle, hemisphere, and longitude, in addition to the more common dependence on latitude. Our main results are as follows: i) We recommend a revision of Joys law toward a weaker dependence on latitude (slope of 0.13 to 0.26) and without forcing the tilt to zero at the Equator. ii) We determine that the hemispheric mean tilt value of active regions varies with each solar cycle, although the noise from a stochastic process dominates and does not allow for a determination of the slope of Joys law on an 11-year time scale. iii) The hemispheric difference in mean tilt angles, 1.1 degrees + 0.27, over Cycles 16 to 21 was significant to a three-sigma level, with average tilt angles in the northern and southern hemispheres of 4.7 degrees + 0.26 and 3.6 degrees + 0.27 respectively. iv) Area-weighted mean tilt angles normalized by latitude for Cycles 15 to 21 anticorrelate with cycle strength for the southern hemisphere and whole-Sun data, confirming previous results by Dasi-Espuig, Solanki, Krivova, et al. (2010, Astron. Astrophys. 518, A7). The northern hemispheric mean tilt angles do not show a dependence on cycle strength. vi) Mean tilt angles do not show a dependence on longitude for any hemisphere or cycle. In addition, the standard deviation of the mean tilt is 29 to 31 degrees for all cycles and hemispheres indicating that the scatter is due to the same consistent process even if the mean tilt angles vary.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures, 3 table
