Background:  Anatomy is a very essential science. Knowledge of anatomy is significantly associated in situations with nearly every characteristic of medical modules. Therefore, it is required to be educated and mastered competently by medical students. Aim: The chief objective of this research is to note and examine the outcome of teaching methods for example problem-based learning and seminars when integrated with educational lectures by first-year UG students. Materials and Methods:  This is a cross-sectional study carried out at Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India in which 150 students from the first year were included. They were divided into 2 categories, 75 students in each category. Categories 1 and 2 are again subdivided into three categories. Both of the categories undergo seminar and problem-based learning in four chosen topics in the anatomy of the abdomen. An autonomous assessment was done to acknowledge the desired methods. Results:  In topic 1 the average difference between the case-based learning and lecture in both categories is 4 ± 1.18 and 3.4 ± 1.4 respectively. In topic 2, the average difference between the case-based learning and lecture in both categories is 3.9 ± 1.7 and 1.8 ± 1.3 respectively. Conclusion:  In this study, it was evaluated that problem-based learning is more efficacious in relating to critical thinking. However, problem-based learning and seminars both are required with didactic lectures. Recommendation:  Problem-based learning and tuition classes along with conventional lecture sessions are very effective in helping students understand anatomy in a better manner

The aim of the present study was to assess the Antimicrobial and Antifungal activities of the Phenolic leaf extracts of Bixa orellana L., Lantana camara L and Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl. Hyptis suaveolens (L.) Piot. and the Triclosan, a chlorinated aromatic compound with antibacterial and antifungal properties used in common house hold and personal care products and to compare household and personal care products and to compare their effectiveness against 4 bacterial strains - 2 Gram Positive strains – Staphylococcus aurens and Bacillus substitis and 2 Gram negative strains – Escherischia coli and Pseudomonas fluorescens and 3 Fungi- Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Mucor Sp., by Agar well diffusion Assay. The phenolic extracts of all the 4 plants showed Maximum (80-100%), Relative inhibition against Pseudomonas fluorescence, Moderate inhibition (30-70%) against Staphylococcus aurens and Bacillus substilis and least inhibition (30-47%) against Escherischia coli, while, the Antifungal efficacy of all the 4 Phenolic plant extracts were observed to be effective at the concentration ranging from 70-300 µg. The plant phenolic extracts for Antimicrobial and Antifungal properties were compared with Standard Triclosan, a chlorinated compound. Our studies showed that the phenolic components of plant origin for antibacterial activity were equivalent to Triclosan with the same concentration, while for antifungal activity slightly higher concentrations could be a better alternative and hence there could be a substitution for Triclosan by Plant Phenolic Extracts used in house hold and personal care products, in future days to come

MAXIMUM DATA RATE DETERMINATION OF A TELEPHONE TRANSMISSION CHANNEL

    Get PDF
The transmission channel is an electrical medium that bridges the distance from the source to the destination. It may be apair of wires, a coaxial cable, a radio path, or an optical fiber. Every channel introduces some amount of transmission loss orattenuation and, therefore, the transmitted power progressively decreases with increasing distance. The signal is alsodistorted in the transmission channel because of different attenuation at different frequencies. Signals usually containcomponents at many frequencies and if some are attenuated and some are not, the shape of the signal changes. This change isknown as distortion. Note that a transmission channel often includes many speech or data channels that are multiplexed intothe same cable pair or fiber. In this paper we present the determination of maximum data rate of a telephone channel. Keywords: Bandwidth, Data Rate, Symbol Rate, Transmission Channe
