Adatom incorporation and step crossing at the edges of 2D nanoislands
Adatom incorporation into the ``faceted'' steps bordering the 2D nanoislands
is analyzed. The step permeability and incorporation coefficients are derived
for some typical growth situations. It is shown that the step consisting of
equivalent straight segments can be permeable even in the case of fast egde
migration if there exist factors delaying creation of new kinks. The step
consisting of alternating rough and straight segments may be permeable if there
is no adatom transport between neighboring segments through the corner
diffusion.Comment: 3 pages, one figur
Fabrication and properties of L-arginine-doped PCL electrospun composite scaffolds
The article describes fabrication and properties of composite fibrous
scaffolds obtained by electrospinning of the solution of
poly({\epsilon}-caprolactone) and arginine in common solvent. The influence of
arginine content on structure, mechanical, surface and biological properties of
the scaffolds was investigated. It was found that with an increase of arginine
concentration diameter of the scaffold fibers was reduced, which was
accompanied by an increase of scaffold strength and Young modulus. It was
demonstrated that porosity and water contact angle of the scaffold are
independent from arginine content. The best cell adhesion and viability was
shown on scaffolds with arginine concentration from 0.5 to 1 % wt

PECULIARITIES OF CLINIC AND COURSE OF VIBRATION DISEASE IN THE VIBRATION EXPOSURED MINERS OF KUZBASS REGION
Clinical manifestations of vibration pathology with different degree of pathological process intensity were studied in 288 vibration exposured miners. Peculiarities of formation of vibration pathology in Kuzbass miners are connected with the development of angiodystonic syndrome (97—100 %) with acrospasm attacks. Formation. of vibration pathology is associated with the increase of arterial hypertension incidence — up to 28,3 % at stage I and up to 34,1 % at stage II, that is possibly caused by the increase of endothelia system dysfunction. There is progressive disease course both in the persons continuing contact with vibration and in those who stopped it

Adatom diffusion on vicinal surfaces with permeable steps
We study the behavior of single atoms on an infinite vicinal surface assuming
certain degree of step permeability. Assuming complete lack of re-evaporation
an ruling out nucleation the atoms will inevitably join kink sites at the steps
but can do many attempts before that. Increasing the probability of step
permeability or the kink spacing lead to increase of the number of steps
crossed before incorporation of the atoms into kink sites. The asymmetry of the
attachment-detachment kinetics (Ehrlich-Schwoebel effect) suppresses the step
permeability and completely eliminates it in the extreme case of infinite
Ehrlich-Schwoebel barrier. The average number of permeability events per atom
scales with the average kink spacing. A negligibly small drift of the adatoms
in a direction perpendicular to the steps leads to a significant asymmetry of
the distribution of the permeability events the atoms thus visiting more
distant steps in the direction of the drift.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
Elaboration of New Medical Technology for Predicting the Risk of Ischemic Heart Disease in the Workers of the Coal Industry
Background. Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the majority of developed countries, including Russia. It determines the importance of elaboration of individual risk prediction of ischemic heart disease for primary prevention.Aim: to develop a strategy for predicting the ischemic heart disease in coal industry workers.Materials and methods. Ischemic heart disease incidence and its risk factors were studied in 196 coalmine workers (sinkers, stope miners). Rose Questionnaire, daily ECG monitoring and bicycle ergometry were used to detect angina. The indices of lipid metabolism, hemostatic system, the level of homocysteine, uric acid, C-reactive protein, constitutional-morphological type by Rees – Eysenck, genetic markers of blood groups of AB0, P and MN systems were studied. When elaborating the prognostic system, we used the Bayes method. A prognostic coefficient was calculated for each factor. Prediction of ischemic heart disease was carried out according to the sum of prognostic coefficients.Results. Ischemic heart disease was detected in 18 (9.2 %) miners. According to the above mentioned indices, a medical technology was elaborated to predict the ischemic heart disease, based on the determination of the most significant risk markers: age, work experience in harmful working conditions, type A behavior, arterial hypertension, fasting hyperglycemia, metabolic syndrome, hypercholesterolemia, decrease in the level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol, increase in the value of low density lipoprotein cholesterol, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, hyperfibrinogenemia, increase in the level of soluble fibrin monomer complexes and C-reactive protein, abdominal obesity, hypersthenic constitutional-morphological type by Rees – Eysenck, genetic markers of blood groups of AB0, P and MN systems.Conclusion. Based on the most significant markers, a personalized strategy for ischemic heart disease prediction in miners was elaborated, which allowed timely undertaking therapeutic and preventive measures
DETERMINATION OF INFLUENCE OF GEOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF PIEZOCERAMIC PLATE ON AMPLITUDE CHARACTERISTICS OF LINEAR PIEZOMOTOR
Purpose. The purpose of the paper is to determine the influence of the geometric parameters of the stator of a linear piezoceramic motor in the form of a piezoceramic plate on the characteristics of its amplitude oscillations. Methodology. For the research, mathematical modeling in the COMSOL Multiphysics software package was used, taking into account the interrelation of electrostatic and mechanical phenomena. Results. By numerical simulation of the process of operating of a linear piezoceramic motor, a rational ratio of the width to the length of the piezoceramic plate is determined. Originality. The rational value of the thickness h of the piezoceramic plate of the motor is also established. Approximate dependencies are proposed for determining the parameters of the relationship between the geometric dimensions of the piezoceramic plate of a linear piezomotor, which makes it possible to predict its characteristics. The adequacy of calculation models is confirmed by experimental studies. Practical value. The results obtained can be used in the design of piezoceramic motors
Functional classification of proteins based on projection of amino acid sequences: application for prediction of protein kinase substrates
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The knowledge about proteins with specific interaction capacity to the protein partners is very important for the modeling of cell signaling networks. However, the experimentally-derived data are sufficiently not complete for the reconstruction of signaling pathways. This problem can be solved by the network enrichment with predicted protein interactions. The previously published <it>in silico </it>method PAAS was applied for prediction of interactions between protein kinases and their substrates.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We used the method for recognition of the protein classes defined by the interaction with the same protein partners. 1021 protein kinase substrates classified by 45 kinases were extracted from the Phospho.ELM database and used as a training set. The reasonable accuracy of prediction calculated by leave-one-out cross validation procedure was observed in the majority of kinase-specificity classes. The random multiple splitting of the studied set onto the test and training set had also led to satisfactory results. The kinase substrate specificity for 186 proteins extracted from TRANSPATH® database was predicted by PAAS method. Several kinase-substrate interactions described in this database were correctly predicted. Using the previously developed ExPlain™ system for the reconstruction of signal transduction pathways, we showed that addition of the newly predicted interactions enabled us to find the possible path between signal trigger, TNF-alpha, and its target genes in the cell.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>It was shown that the predictions of protein kinase substrates by PAAS were suitable for the enrichment of signaling pathway networks and identification of the novel signaling pathways. The on-line version of PAAS for prediction of protein kinase substrates is freely available at <url>http://www.ibmc.msk.ru/PAAS/</url>.</p
