New limits on the EC and ECEC processes in Te
New limits on the double beta processes for Te have been obtained
using a 400 cm HPGe detector and a source consisting of natural Te0
powder. At a confidence level of 90% the limits are y for
the EC transition to the ground state, y for the ECEC transition to the first 2 excited
state of Sn (1171.26 keV) and y for

Complexity and growth for polygonal billiards
We establish a relationship between the word complexity and the number of
generalized diagonals for a polygonal billiard. We conclude that in the
rational case the complexity function has cubic upper and lower bounds. In the

Wave Dark Matter and the Tully-Fisher Relation
We investigate a theory of dark matter called wave dark matter, also known as
scalar field dark matter (SFDM) and boson star dark matter or Bose-Einstein
condensate (BEC) dark matter, in spherical symmetry and its relation to the
Tully-Fisher relation. We show that fixing the oscillation frequency of wave
dark matter near the edge of dark galactic halos implies a Tully-Fisher-like
relation for those halos. We then describe how this boundary condition, which
is roughly equivalent to fixing the half-length of the exponentially decaying
tail of each galactic halo mass profile, may yield testable predictions for

Is the European Monetary Union an Endogenous Currency Area? The Example of the Labor Markets
Our study tries to find out whether wage dynamics between Euro member countries became more synchronized through the adoption of the common currency. We calculate bivarate correlation coefficients of wage and wage cost dynamics and run a model of endogenously induced changes of coefficients, which are explained by other variables being also endogenous: trade intensity, sectoral specialization, financial integration. We used a panel data structure to allow for cross-section weights for country-pair observations. We use instrumental variable regressions in order to disentangle exogenous from endogenous influences. We applied these techniques to real and nominal wage dynamics and to dynamics of unit labor costs. We found evidence for persistent asymmetries in nominal wage formation despite a single currency and monetary policy, responsible for diverging unit labor costs and for emerging trade imbalances among the EMU member countries.

Rational invariants of even ternary forms under the orthogonal group
In this article we determine a generating set of rational invariants of
minimal cardinality for the action of the orthogonal group on
the space of ternary forms of even degree . The
construction relies on two key ingredients: On one hand, the Slice Lemma allows
us to reduce the problem to dermining the invariants for the action on a
subspace of the finite subgroup of signed permutations. On the
other hand, our construction relies in a fundamental way on specific bases of
harmonic polynomials. These bases provide maps with prescribed
-equivariance properties. Our explicit construction of these
bases should be relevant well beyond the scope of this paper. The expression of
the -invariants can then be given in a compact form as the
composition of two equivariant maps. Instead of providing (cumbersome) explicit
expressions for the -invariants, we provide efficient algorithms
for their evaluation and rewriting. We also use the constructed
-invariants to determine the -orbit locus and
provide an algorithm for the inverse problem of finding an element in
with prescribed values for its invariants. These are

Optimization of nanostructured permalloy electrodes for a lateral hybrid spin-valve structure
Ferromagnetic electrodes of a lateral semiconductor-based spin-valve
structure are designed to provide a maximum of spin-polarized injection
current. A single-domain state in remanence is a prerequisite obtained by
nanostructuring Permalloy thin film electrodes. Three regimes of aspect ratios
are identified by room temperature magnetic force microscopy: (i)
high-aspect ratios of provide the favored remanent single-domain
magnetization states, (ii) medium-aspect ratios to yield
highly remanent states with closure domains and (iii) low-aspect ratios of lead to multi-domain structures. Lateral kinks, introduced to bridge the
gap between micro- and macroscale, disturb the uniform magnetization of
electrodes with high- and medium-aspect ratios. However, vertical flanks help
to maintain a uniformly magnetized state at the ferromagnet-semiconcuctor
