    Probabilistic computing with future deep sub-micrometer devices: a modelling approach

    An approach is described that investigates the potential of probabilistic "neural" architectures for computation with deep sub-micrometer (DSM) MOSFETs. Initially, noisy MOSFET models are based upon those for a 0.35 /spl mu/m MOS technology with an exaggerated 1/f characteristic. We explore the manifestation of the 1/f characteristic at the output of a 2-quadrant multiplier when the key n-channel MOSFETs are replaced by "noisy" MOSFETs. The stochastic behavior of this noisy multiplier has been mapped on to a software (Matlab) model of a continuous restricted Boltzmann machine (CRBM) - an analogue-input stochastic computing structure. Simulation of this DSM CRBM implementation shows little degradation from that of a "perfect" CRBM. This paper thus introduces a methodology for a form of "technology-downstreaming" and highlights the potential of probabilistic architectures for DSM computation

    This study was conducted on January 2016. The purpose of this study to determine the cost of investment, gross income, net income and feasibility of fish rearing in floating net in the Tapian Nauli 1 village. The method used is a survey method to determine the respondents conducted purposive sampling.Based on the results of this research that result of financial analysis and feasibility of fish farmers as follows: 10 slots of floating net, the total investment is Rp 325. 981 .000, gross income is Rp 516.6 million, net income is Rp 201.099.500, RCR 1.64 and FRR 61.69. 8 slots of floating net, the total investment is Rp 269.130.000 , gross income is Rp 396.550.000 , net income is Rp 136.251. 500, RCR 1.52 and FRR 50.63. 5 slots of floating net, the total investment is Rp 192.691 000, gross income is Rp 281.4 million, net income is Rp 95.063.500, RCR 1.51 and FRR 49.34. Businesses of fish rearing in floating net in the Tapian Nauli 1 village has great prospect can be seen of the revenue generated, but for the business sustainability of fish farmers in the village of Tapian Nauli first confronted the problem of limited seed due to the absence of a hatchery in this village

    Fulminant hepatic failure in pregnant women: acute fatty liver or acute viral hepatitis?

    Background: Hepatitis E virus, which is endemic in our region, can cause severe liver dysfunction in pregnant women and this can be clinically confused with acute fatty liver of pregnancy. Methods: We studied the clinical and laboratory data as well as the maternal and fetal outcomes of 12 pregnant women presenting with fulminant hepatic failure in order to determine the etiology of the disease. The clinical diagnoses were subsequently correlated with serologic assays for acute HEV infection. All patients were severely ill with deep jaundice, grade 3-4 encephalopathy and abnormal prothrombin times. Results: A clinical diagnosis of acute viral hepatitis was made in nine patients and of acute fatty liver in the other three cases. IgM and IgG antibodies confirmed acute viral hepatitis E in six of the nine patients while one had acute hepatitis A infection. HEV IgM and IgG antibodies were, however, also positive in two of the three patients thought to have acute fatty liver. Maternal and fetal mortality were 16.6% and 50%, respectively.CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that hepatitis E is the usual cause of acute liver failure in our pregnant women and that clinical and laboratory features do not permit accurate distinction between acute HEV infection and acute fatty liver of pregnancy. The prognosis in patients with acute HEV infection is much better than in other groups with severe liver failure (mortality 16% vs 68%)
