Unsupervised Segmentation of Action Segments in Egocentric Videos using Gaze

Unsupervised segmentation of action segments in egocentric videos is a desirable feature in tasks such as activity recognition and content-based video retrieval. Reducing the search space into a finite set of action segments facilitates a faster and less noisy matching. However, there exist a substantial gap in machine understanding of natural temporal cuts during a continuous human activity. This work reports on a novel gaze-based approach for segmenting action segments in videos captured using an egocentric camera. Gaze is used to locate the region-of-interest inside a frame. By tracking two simple motion-based parameters inside successive regions-of-interest, we discover a finite set of temporal cuts. We present several results using combinations (of the two parameters) on a dataset, i.e., BRISGAZE-ACTIONS. The dataset contains egocentric videos depicting several daily-living activities. The quality of the temporal cuts is further improved by implementing two entropy measures.Comment: To appear in 2017 IEEE International Conference On Signal and Image Processing Application

Algoritma Strategi Untuk Menghindari Rintangan Pada Robot Sepak Bola

First order polarization tensor approximation using multivariate polynomial interpolation method via least square minimization technique

This paper proposes a new numerical approach useful in dealing with nearly singular integrals, specifically, the integral of the first order polarization tensor (PT). Polarization tensor represents the integral equations in an asymptotic series, and it can also define the boundary value problem of a partial differential equation (PDE). Since PT has been widely used and implemented in many engineering areas, particularly electric and magnetic field areas, it is crucial to estimate the first order PT solutions accurately. In this regard, the computation of PT for different geometry types is basically from the quadratic interpolation and the multivariate polynomial fitting using the least square method. The numerical calculation of the integral of the singular integral operator, ∗ which is one of the primary integral processes before we obtained the solution of PT uses the multivariate polynomial fitting. This paper aims to provide an accurate numerical solution for first order PT for different geometry types, particularly sphere and ellipsoid geometry. The numerical results of the proposed method are shown together with the comparison of its analytical solutions. From the results obtained, the numerical solution of first order PT shows higher accuracy and higher convergence as the number of surface elements increases. The numerical and the analytical solution of first order PT for a sphere is discussed and represented in graphical form. The utilization of two different software types throughout this study is Netgen Mesh Generator and MATLAB to aid the numerical computation process. The simulation and the numerical examples verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method

Inefficient air cooling systems may cause of wasting energy in a great amount specially in the urban area. Being the most popular cooling system, air-conditioners have been used in domestic usage as well as in industrial applications. However, the unintelligent nature of such cooling system gives rise to excess energy consumption which causes a huge problem in the current energy hungry world. In this paper, we present design of a fuzzy logic controller for the intelligent air-conditioning system. The performance of the controller is also simulated. The proposed controller has the adaptive nature to control fan and compressor speed which leads to reducing power consumption. Also, the system controls the operation mode to retain the healthy oxygen level and humid condition of the indoor environment

Immobilization of bovine serum albumin on the chitosan/PVA film

Chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (Chitosan/PVA) blended film was prepared by direct blend process and solution casting methods. In order to reduce the swelling ratio and enhance the chemical and mechanical stability, Chitosan/PVA film was crosslinked with glutaraldehyde in order to produce Chitosan-g-PVA. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) was used as a model protein to incorporate into the Chitosan-g-PVA. The chemical structure and morphological characteristics of films were studied by FT-IR and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mechanical and physical properties of blended films such as tensile properties in the dry and wet states, water uptake and water contact angle measurement were characterized. Blending PVA and chitosan improved strength and flexibility of the films. Crosslinking with glutaraldehyde further improves the tensile strength and decrease the hydrophilicity of films. BSA immobilized on the Chitosan-g-PVA film was calculated as BSA encapsulation efficiency

Kinetic Models of Trymethylolpropane (TMP) and Castor Oil Methyl Ester Transesterification for engine oil synthesis

Non-digestible oil as renewable resources has grown a compulsive concern for engine oil synthesis. The synthesis of engine oil was conducted in a bath stirrer flask via two-steps catalytic transesterification. Modification of trimethylolpropane (TMP) and castor oil methyl ester (COME) transesterification was run under non- and impregnated Perna V. shells catalysts. Operation temperature effect on the castor trimethylol propane triester as engine lubricant was conditioned at range 90°C – 130°C. The optimal reaction temperature was detected at 110°C with 98.60 % TMP conversion and 71.29% triester composition. Excess dosage of COME was structured at 4:1 ratio to TMP for progressive reaction limitation. Kinetics of TMP and COME transesterifation were established for first- and second orders. The second order kinetic model best matchs the acquired data for an overall reaction rate constants of 0.0354 (% wt/wt min °C)-1. Synthesized engine oil resulted activation energy of 74.10 kJ/mol. Estimated pour and flash point were -17 °C and 221°C. Kinematic viscosity at 40°C was 64.31 mm2/s and density was 872 kg/m3 fulfilled the proposed lubricant standard. The kinetic models were proportionate to other oil seeds crops based engine oil, typically Jatropha seeds oil
