Hadron Production at Intermediate at RHIC
Large proton and antiproton enhancement with respect to pions has been
observed at intermediate transverse momentum 2-5 GeV/ in Au+Au
collisions at RHIC. To investigate the possible source of this anomaly, the
production of mesons and two particle angular correlations triggered by
mid- baryons or mesons are studied. We also present the first measurement
of proton and antiproton production at GeV in Au+Au
collisions, which aims to study the energy dependence of the observed baryon

Simple Front End Electronics for Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers
A simple circuit for the presentation of the signals from Multi-gap Resistive
Plate Chambers (MRPCs) to standard existing digitization electronics is
described. The circuit is based on "off-the-shelf" discrete components. An
optimization of the values of specific components is required to match the
aspects of the MRPCs for the given application. This simple circuit is an
attractive option for the initial signal processing for MRPC prototyping and
bench- or beam-testing efforts, as well as for final implementations of
small-area Time-of-Flight systems with existing data acquisition systems.Comment: submitted to Nucl. Inst. and Methods, Section
Flow fluctuations and long-range correlations: elliptic flow and beyond
These proceedings consist of a brief overview of the current understanding of
collective behavior in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In particular, recent
progress in understanding the implications of event-by-event fluctuations have
solved important puzzles in existing data -- the "ridge" and "shoulder"
phenomena of long-range two-particle correlations -- and have created an
exciting opportunity to tightly constrain theoretical models with many new

Sensitivity of Azimuthal Jet Tomography to Early Time Energy-Loss at RHIC and LHC
We compute the jet path-length dependence of energy-loss for higher azimuthal
harmonics of jet-fragments in a generalized model of energy-loss that can
interpolate between pQCD and AdS/CFT limits and compare results with Glauber
and CGC/KLN initial conditions. We find, however, that even the high-pT second
moment is most sensitive to the poorly known early-time evolution during the
first fm/c. Moreover, we demonstrate that quite generally the energy and
density-dependence leads to an overquenching jet fragments relative to the
first LHC -data, once the parameters of the energy-loss model are fixed

Overview of experimental results in PbPb collisions at sqrt{s_NN} = 2.76 TeV by the CMS Collaboration
The CMS experiment at the LHC is a general-purpose apparatus with a set of
large acceptance and high granularity detectors for hadrons, electrons, photons
and muons, providing unique capabilities for both proton-proton and ion-ion
collisions. The data collected during the November 2010 PbPb run at sqrt{s_NN}
= 2.76 TeV was analyzed and multiple measurements of the properties of the hot
and dense matter were obtained. Global event properties, detailed study of jet
production and jet properties, isolated photons, quarkonia and weak bosons were

phi meson production in Au + Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN} = 200 GeV
We present the results on the mid-rapidity phi meson production in the
K^{+}K^{-} decay channel in Au + Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV measured
by the PHENIX experiment at RHIC. The spectral shape of the phi resonance,
studied at different collision centralities, is consistent with the particle
data book. The transverse mass spectra are measured in four centrality bins.
The inverse slopes (T), yields (dN/dy) and particle ratios are studied as a
function of centrality. The nuclear modification factor is measured through the
ratio, R_{CP}, of central to peripheral yields normalized to the number of
nucleon-nucleon collisions. The R_{CP} of the phi mesons is less than unity and
is comparable to that of pions rather than R_{CP} ~ 1 observed for protons and
anti-protons
Reaction Operator Approach to Multiple Elastic Scatterings
We apply the GLV Reaction Operator formalism to compute the effects of
multiple elastic scatterings of jets propagating through dense matter. We
derive the elastic Reaction Operator and demonstrate that the recursion
relations have a closed form solution that reduces to the familiar Glauber
form. We also investigate the accuracy of the Gaussian dipole approximation for

Event Reconstruction in the PHENIX Central Arm Spectrometers
The central arm spectrometers for the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic
Heavy Ion Collider have been designed for the optimization of particle
identification in relativistic heavy ion collisions. The spectrometers present
a challenging environment for event reconstruction due to a very high track
multiplicity in a complicated, focusing, magnetic field. In order to meet this
challenge, nine distinct detector types are integrated for charged particle
tracking, momentum reconstruction, and particle identification. The techniques

Centrality dependence of pi^[+/-], K^[+/-], p and p-bar production from sqrt(s_NN)=130 GeV Au + Au collisions at RHIC
Identified pi^[+/-] K^[+/-], p and p-bar transverse momentum spectra at
mid-rapidity in sqrt(s_NN)=130 GeV Au-Au collisions were measured by the PHENIX
experiment at RHIC as a function of collision centrality. Average transverse
momenta increase with the number of participating nucleons in a similar way for
all particle species. The multiplicity densities scale faster than the number
of participating nucleons. Kaon and nucleon yields per participant increase
faster than the pion yields. In central collisions at high transverse momenta
(p_T greater than 2 GeV/c), anti-proton and proton yields are comparable to the

Net Charge Fluctuations in Au + Au Interactions at sqrt(s_NN) = 130 GeV
Data from Au + Au interactions at sqrt(s_NN) = 130 GeV, obtained with the
PHENIX detector at RHIC, are used to investigate local net charge fluctuations
among particles produced near mid-rapidity. According to recent suggestions,
such fluctuations may carry information from the Quark Gluon Plasma. This
analysis shows that the fluctuations are dominated by a stochastic distribution
of particles, but are also sensitive to other effects, like global charge
