Superconformal indices of three-dimensional theories related by mirror symmetry

Recently, Kim and Imamura and Yokoyama derived an exact formula for superconformal indices in three-dimensional field theories. Using their results, we prove analytically the equality of superconformal indices in some U(1)-gauge group theories related by the mirror symmetry. The proofs are based on the well known identities of the theory of qq-special functions. We also suggest the general index formula taking into account the U(1)JU(1)_J global symmetry present for abelian theories.Comment: 17 pages; minor change

Total hepatectomy and liver transplant for hepatocellular adenomatosis and focal nodular hyperplasia.

    Get PDF
Extensive hepatocellular adenomatosis (HA) and focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) represent a proliferation of hepatic cells that occurs most frequently in women. These lesions are uncommon in the pediatric age group, accounting for 2% of pediatric hepatic tumors, and are extremely rare in males. The etiology of HA and FNH has been correlated with the use of oral contraceptives. We report to the best of our knowledge the first series of patients treated with OLTx for HA and FNH (five cases). All these patients had lesions involving at least 90% of the hepatic parenchyma and all underwent major hepatic surgery before OLTx because of life threatening complications. One patient died in the immediate postoperative period following retransplantation for primary non-function of the first OLTx. Four out of five patients are currently alive from 4.1 to 9.6 years after OLTx. Our results justify the use of OLTx for symptomatic patients with HA and FNH who cannot be treated with conventional hepatic resections

On the Impact of Link Layer Retransmissions on TCP for Aeronautical Communications

    Get PDF
In this article, we evaluate the impact of link layer retransmissions on the performance of TCP in the context of aeronautical communications. We present the architecture of aeronautical networks, which is manly driven by an important channel access delay, and the various retransmission strategies that can be implemented at both link and transport layers. We consider a worst case scenario to illustrate the benefits provided by the ARQ scheme at the link layer in terms of transmission delay. We evaluate the trade-off between allowing a fast data transmission and a low usage of satellite capacity by adjusting link layer parameters

Assessment of Individual and Propel Intention for Job Attrition on Software Industry: Voice from Software Employees in Bangalore city, India

    Get PDF
It has been observed that professional software employees retention become a challenge for software Industry in India as the attrition rate has been significantly increased in recent years. The main objectives of this paper assessment of Individual and Propel concern for Job Attrition on Software Industry. Primary data were collected from 100 employees from 10 software Industry using questionnaire methods. The results indicate that all factors (Individual and Propel) have contributed in the employees’ attrition intentions. However, some facets of individual factor have significantly contributed in attrition intentions. Keywords: Job attrition, Individual factors, Propel factors, Software industry and Bangalore Cit

Relation between the 4d superconformal index and the S^3 partition function

A relation between the 4d superconformal index and the S^3 partition function is studied with focus on the 4d and 3d actions used in localization. In the case of vanishing Chern-Simons levels and round S^3 we explicitly show that the 3d action is obtained from the 4d action by dimensional reduction up to terms which do not affect the exact results. By combining this fact and a recent proposal concerning a squashing of S^3 and SU(2) Wilson line, we obtain a formula which gives the partition function depending on the Weyl weight of chiral multiplets, real mass parameters, FI parameters, and a squashing parameter as a limit of the index of a parent 4d theory.Comment: 20 pages, LaTeX; v2: comments added; v3: minor corrections, version published in JHE

Antigenotoxic Effect Of Ferulic Acid In 7,12-Dimethyl Benz(A)- Anthracene (Dmba) Induced Genotoxicity

    Get PDF
The antigenotoxic effect of ferulic acid was carried out by evaluating the cytogenetic markers, the micronuclei frequency and chromosomal aberrations, in the bone marrow of hamsters in 7,12- dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA) induced genotoxicity. Genotoxicity was induced in experimental hamsters by single intraperitoneal injection of DMBA (30mg kg-1 b.w). Pretreatment of ferulic acid orally at a dose of 40mg kg-1 b.w for five days significantly reduced the frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MnPCEs) and the percentage of chromosomal aberrations in hamster\'s bone marrow. Our results thus suggest that ferulic acid has potent antigenotoxic effect in DMBA induced genotoxicity in golden Syrian hamsters. Objective: The objective of the study is to assess drug use pattern of antihypertensive medications in hypertensive patients. Methods: It is a prospective cross-sectional study conducted in the outpatient dispensary, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram for the period of 6 months from January 2019 to June 2019. About 500 prescriptions of patients visiting outpatient dispensary with an antihypertensive prescription were enrolled for the study. Drug use patterns of different classes of antihypertensive medications were analyzed from individual prescriptions. Results: A total of 500 patients were included in this study, among which 281 were male (56.2%) and 219 (43.8%) were female. In 500 patients, 133 patients were treated with monotherapy. In that 42.1% of patients were treated with amlodipine, 28.57% of patients were treated with losartan. In combination therapy most commonly used was double therapy (42.8%) followed by triple therapy (24.2%). Calcium Channel Blockers (56.2%) was most prescribed class of drug followed by Angiotensin Receptor Blockers. Conclusion: This study reveals that calcium channel blockers as most prescribed class of antihypertensive and Amlodipine was the most prescribed antihypertensive. In our study, most of the patients were treated with combination therapy in that double drug therapy was most common. There is a chance of various medication errors, development of adverse drug reaction as majority (290) of patients belong to age above 60 and chances of getting error also increases as combination therapy is most used. Therefore close monitoring is required for such patients

Experimental observation of moving intrinsic localized modes in germanium

    Get PDF
Deep level transient spectroscopy shows that defects created by alpha irradiation of germanium are annealed by low energy plasma ions up to a depth of several thousand lattice units. The plasma ions have energies of 2-8eV and therefore can deliver energies of the order of a few eV to the germanium atoms. The most abundant defect is identified as the E-center, a complex of the dopant antimony and a vacancy with and annealing energy of 1.3eV as determined by our measurements. The inductively coupled plasma has a very low density and a very low flux of ions. This implies that the ion impacts are almost isolated both in time and at the surface of the semiconductor. We conclude that energy of the order of an eV is able to travel a large distance in germanium in a localized way and is delivered to the defects effectively. The most likely candidates are vibrational nonlinear wave packets known as intrinsic localized modes, which exist for a limited range of energies. This property is coherent with the fact that more energetic ions are less efficient at producing the annealing effect.Comment: 20 pages, 10 figure

Randomized trial of FK 506/prednisone vs FK 506/azathioprine/prednisone after renal transplantation: preliminary report.

    Get PDF
FK 506 was used as a primary immunosuppressive agent in 125 cases of renal transplantation in a randomized trial comparing FK 506/prednisone with FK 506/azathioprine/prednisone. With a mean follow-up of 5.5 +/- 2.5 months, there has been a 6-month actuarial patient survival of 99% and graft survival of 88%. There is no difference thus far between the two-drug and three-drug groups, although there may be less rejection and diabetes in the three-drug group. These results suggest that FK 506 is a useful immunosuppressive agent in kidney transplantation
