Model uncertainty in measuring the gluon jet fraction at the hadron collider

The work proposes a new method for measuring the gluon jet fraction in jet sample produced at the hadron collider. This method uses model quark/gluon templates - distributions of quark and gluon jets over the jet macro parameter. Within the framework of this method, it is possible to find a model uncertainty of measurement associated with the deviation of model quark/gluon templates from the true ones. The issue of data-motivated corrections to the model quark/gluon templates is discussed

On measuring the characteristics of quark and gluon jets in hadron-hadron collisions

To measure the characteristics of quark and gluon jets in hadron-hadron collisions, two samples of jets are used. Given the large statistics of jets at the LHC, the two-sample method requires taking into account the following corrections: (1) use of measured fractions of quark and gluon jets instead of the model ones, (2) amendment for the contribution of jets with an unidentified flavour, (3) taking into account the dependence of the distributions of quark and gluon jets on the conditions for jet sample selections. The paper presents an improved two-sample method that takes into account these corrections

The article considers the situation of the Czech community in Volhynia during World War II. It is stressed that the Czech Republic Volyn took an active part in the resistance movement that found its expression in organizing anti-fascist group «Blanik». Determined on the basis of source material and the Czech periodicals that the organization had a clear structure, a vast network of units and press agencies. The activity group «Blanik», the main directions and it means bortby against invaders. Traced the fate of members of the group at the end of the war and after its completion

Receiving Oil Coke on the Basis of Heavy Residual Oil From the Chemical Works “Polymir” (OJSC “Naftan”)

    Get PDF
Heavy residual oil (HRO) as a by-product of hydrocarbon pyrolysis, is a mixture of various groups of hydrocarbons, mainly aromatic, with a boiling point above 1600С. At present this product does not find rational use. It is used as boiler fuel. This article presents the results of a study on the possible use of HRO as a raw material for the production of petroleum coke

Development of the RF Ion Sources for Focused Ion Beam Accelerators

    Get PDF
The paper presents the results of investigations of ion sources developed in the IAP of NAS of Ukraine for generation of high brightness ion beams with small energy spread. A series of RF ion sources operated at the frequency of 27.12 MHz were studied: the inductive RF ion source, the helicon ion source, the multi-cusp RF ion source, and the sputter type RF source of metal ions. A global model and transformer model were applied for calculation of RF source plasma parameters. Ion energy spread, ion mass, and ion current density of some sources were measured in the wide range of RF power, extraction voltage and gas pres-sure. Complex of Technology for Processing Heavier Cut of Pyrolysis Gas Oil

    Get PDF
In order to improve the profitability of pyrolysis plants organized complex of technology for processing heavier cut of pyrolysis gas oil (PGO) of hydrocarbon raw materials. A complex includes the process of distillation for PGO into strait fractions; fraction boiling up to 230° could be used to produce plasticizer for concrete mixture obtained by condensation of naphthalene sulfonic acids from PGO and formaldehyde. Optimal parameters for the synthesis of plasticizer from PGO have been developed; the best mobility of concrete mixture is obtained from synthesis of plasticizer by the involvement of C10+ alkylbenzenes with a volumetric ratio of components for sulfonation: PGO:C10+ alkylbenzenes: H2SO4, respectively 10:5:12 respectively. To prevent intensive polymerization during the synthesis of the plasticizer, recommended to heat up slowly to the temperature of reaction and with a deviation, not more than 5°. Residual fractions of PGO of hydrocarbon raw materials (boiling above 230°) are characterized by a set of sufficient properties for their use as raw materials for coking. An atomic force microscope analysis of the microstructure of petroleum coke from the residual fraction of PGO established the possibility of elongated anisotropic inclusions specified for petroleum needle coke

Properties of ZnO/ZnAl2_2O4_4 composite PEO coatings on zinc

Recently the successful formation of PEO coatings on zinc in a phosphate aluminate electrolyte was shown. The produced composite coatings contain various mixtures of ZnO and ZnAl2_2O4_4. In frame of the current study, the properties of the formed coatings including adhesion/cohesion, wear, corrosion and photocatalytic activity were analysed to identify possible applications. However, the coatings show internal porosity and a sponge-like structure. Thus the cohesion within the coating is quite low. Pull-off tests have demonstrated clear rupture within the PEO layer at strength values as low as 1 MPa. The photocatalytic activity is limited, in spite of the formation of a higher amount of ZnO at shorter treatment times. Interestingly, the composite coatings of ZnO and higher amounts of ZnAl2_2O4_4 spinel showed a higher activity, but not sufficient for fast and effective catalytic cleaning applications
