Textures of the Everyday: Ordinary Affects in Malayalam Memoirs
Memoirs are short autobiographical compositions that are focalized around particular memories and/or experiences instead of aligning with normativities of chronology or historical progress. Historically, the privileging of everyday experiences over life histories configured memoirs as accessible forms of autobiographical composition for disprivileged groups such as women and the working-class (Nussbaum 149). A focus on affects, or states of being, facilitates an intensification of the sensory elements of our terrain, enabling the prioritization of its ‘texture’ (Sedgwick 17). The cultural theorist, Kathleen Stewart employs the term ‘ordinary affects’ to qualify this intertwining of the everyday and the affective and to facilitate an enquiry into the generative potential of everyday life (7). The habitual and the ordinary are privileged in the memoir, titled Aaru Nee (2018) composed by the celebrated Malayali writer and activist, Sarah Joseph. The paper analyses the linkages between the affective registers and Sarah Joseph’s autobiographical subjectivity in Aaru Nee
Estimation of C II and C II* column densities along Galactic sight-lines
We present interstellar C II (1334.5323 \AA) and C II* (1335.7077 \AA) column
density measurements along 14 Galactic sight-lines. These sight-lines sample a
variety of Galactic disk environments and include paths that range nearly two
orders of magnitude in average hydrogen densities () along the lines of
sight. Five of the sight-lines show super-Solar gas phase abundances of carbon.
Our results show that the excess carbon along these sight-lines may result from
different mechanisms taking place in the regions associated with these stars.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures; Accepted for publication in BAS

Small Blob Detection and Classification in 3D MRI Human Kidney Images Using IMBKM and EDCNN Classifier
The spatial and temporal resolution is dramatically increased due to the quick development of medical imaging technology, which in turn increases the size of clinical imaging data. Typically, it is very challenging to do small blob segmentation as of Medical Images (MI) but it encompasses so many vital applications. Some examples are labelling cell, lesion, along with glomeruli aimed at disease diagnosis. Though various detectors were suggested by the prevailing method for this type of issue, they mostly used 2D detectors, which may render less detection accuracy. To trounce this, the system has developed an efficient small Blob Detection (BD)as well as classification in 3D Magnetics Resonance Imaging (MRI) human kidney images utilizingImproved Mini Batch K-Means (IMBKM)and Enhanced Deep Convolutionals Neural Network (EDCNN) classifier. To segment the blob portions, the image is first ameliorated via Enhanced Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (ECLAHE) followed by the IMBKM algorithm. After that, to determine the segmentation performance, the pixels’ percentage in the detected blob portion is gauged. In addition, statistical, GLCM, together with shape features are extracted as of the segmented blob potions. Lastly, the EDCNN takes care of the classification, which classifies '4' classes, say, Normal, Glomerulonephritis, Stone, and Pyelonephritis. The experimental outcomes exhibit that IMBKM and EDCNN have the potential to automatically detect blobs and classify the blobs efficiently than the top-notch methods
Seismic Reaction Of Rc Structure Buildings By Soft Primary Storey
Recently, a large number of structures with excellent history have been made in India. However, they are showing poor execution in the middle of the earthquake. Thus, we need time to take measures to preserve the unintended use of the first micro-stories in structures, which are formed without taking into account the extended clearance and energy demands of the initial floor segments. The key point of this endeavour is to investigate the reaction of the RC diagram working with the sensitive first floor under seismic tremor activity using the variable brickwork thickness. Characteristic patterns of a split-thickness checkered thin-floor work were considered, including unexposed edge patterns and capitalized patterns on X and Z bearings, and a total of 9 patterns were built. Swaggers are offered to consider the effect of the stiffness of filler joints in an RC frame. The calculation of the comparative width of swaggers coincides with the equation of Paulay and Priestley. The earthquake is accounted for in the positive X and Z titles, and the boast is displayed parallel to the course of the seismic shock. The after effects of base shear, displacement, axial force, bending moment-Y, bending moment-Z, and floor motion, shaft forcing, Y-torsional precision, and bending precision in Z were analyzed using STAAD programming. Characteristic stacking conditions were considered to determine the superpowers of different parameters
Implementation of a three Phase Inverter with a Front End Diode Rectifier Using Average Model
As technology grows every day, the study of power systems has shifted its direction to power electronics to produce the most efficient energy conversion. Power electronics is the study of processing and controlling the flow of electric energy by supplying voltages and currents in a form that is suited for user loads. A power electronic system is any technical system which is an assembly of components such as AC to DC converters (rectifiers) and DC to AC converters (inverters), that are connected together to form a functioning machine or an operational procedure. The paper presents the implementation of a three phase inverter with a front end diode rectifier. The components are modeled separately using the state space average method
Dynamics of auto- and heterotrophic picoplankton and associated viruses in Lake Geneva
Microbial dynamics have rarely been investigated in Lake Geneva, known as
the largest lake in western Europe. From a 5-month survey, we report dynamic
patterns of free-living virus, bacteria and small phytoplankton abundances
in response to a variety of environmental parameters. For the first time, we
fractionated the primary production to separate the contribution of
different size-related biological compartments and measured both bacterial
and viral production in addition to experiments conducted to quantify the
virus-induced bacterial mortality. We observed marked seasonal and vertical
variations in picocyanobacteria, bacteria and virus abundances and
production. The contribution of picoplankton and nanoplankton production to
the total primary production was high (reaching up to 76% of total
primary production) in November and the spring–summer transition period,
respectively. The impact of viral lysis on both bacteria and
picocyanobacteria was significantly higher than grazing activities.
Virus-induced picocyanobacterial mortality reached up to 66% of cell
removal compared to virus induced (heterotrophic) bacterial mortality, which
reached a maximum of 34% in July. Statistical analyzes revealed that
temperature and top-down control by viruses are among important factors
regulating the picocyanobacterial dynamics in this lake. More generally
speaking, our results add to the growing evidence and accepted view nowadays
that viruses are an important actor of freshwater microbial dynamics and
more globally of the functioning of the microbial food webs
An efficient method for callus induction of an important medicinal plant (Sarcostemma brevistigma) from stem segments
The present study was undertaken to evaluate the most suitable concentration of growth regulators i.e., IAA, NAA, 2,4-D with BAP and Kin for callus induction. Stems were proved to be the best explant for culture, which were grown on MS basal medium with different concentration of various growth regulators. The standard plant tissue culture protocol for callus culture was adopted. The highest efficiency of callus formation was observed in the medium containing different concentration of 2, 4-D and BAP. In vitro generated callus can be used as a source for the isolation of secondary metabolites from Sarcostemma brevistigma
