This study, to analyse the effectiveness of training programmes conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Garo Hills, was conducted in six purposively selected villages under KVK West Garo Hills districts, with 120 sample size from the adopted villages selected by proportionate random sampling. Data collection from the selected respondents was made with the help of pre-tested structured schedule using personal interview method. The study reveals that majority of the respondents in KVK adopted villages had medium level of knowledge and adoption of improved rice cultivation practices with medium level of productivity, annual net income, self-confidence and materials possession. Majority of the respondents also perceived that KVK trainings had enhanced the social recognition of the farmers. The training effectiveness score reveals that effectiveness score for social recognition was the highest followed by materials possession, level of knowledge and skills, economic condition, extent of adoption, productivity and self-confidence respectively

The present study was conducted to identify the technological and socio-economic impact of the climate resilient technologies demonstrated at National Innovation for Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) Kyrdem village at Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya. To assess the impact, the ex-post-facto research design, where before and after comparisons on different aspects of NICRA project were done. The statistical tools like chi square and Cramer’s V were applied for analysis of the collected information for jalkund and vermicompost to draw the meaningful and logical conclusions. Findings reveal that the average cultivable land area and productive parameters for crops and livestocks of NICRA farmers after the project interventions was significantly higher than that of before the implementation of the interventions all through in kharif and rabi seasons. Findings of cropping intensity, annual savings, expenditure pattern and crop yield were significantly higher in comparison to before implementation of the intervention. Findings of the study exhibited an encouraging impact of the demonstrated technologies in various spheres of farmer’s life of NICRA village

Sensory organ like response determines the magnetism of zigzag-edged honeycomb nanoribbons

We present an analytical theory for the magnetic phase diagram for zigzag edge terminated honeycomb nanoribbons described by a Hubbard model with an interaction parameter U . We show that the edge magnetic moment varies as ln U and uncover its dependence on the width W of the ribbon. The physics of this owes its origin to the sensory organ like response of the nanoribbons, demonstrating that considerations beyond the usual Stoner-Landau theory are necessary to understand the magnetism of these systems. A first order magnetic transition from an anti-parallel orientation of the moments on opposite edges to a parallel orientation occurs upon doping with holes or electrons. The critical doping for this transition is shown to depend inversely on the width of the ribbon. Using variational Monte-Carlo calculations, we show that magnetism is robust to fluctuations. Additionally, we show that the magnetic phase diagram is generic to zigzag edge terminated nanostructures such as nanodots. Furthermore, we perform first principles modeling to show how such magnetic transitions can be realized in substituted graphene nanoribbons.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

Broad Band Optical Polarimetric Study of IC 1805

    Get PDF
We present the BVR broad band polarimetric observations of 51 stars belonging to the young open cluster IC 1805. Along with the photometric data from the literature we have modeled and subtracted the foreground dust contribution from the maximum polarization (P_{max}) and colour excess (E_{B-V}). The mean value of the P_max for intracluster medium and the foreground are found to be 5.008 +/-0.005 % and 4.865 +/-0.022 % respectively. Moreover, the mean value of the wavelength of maximum polarization (lambda_{max}) for intracluster medium is 0.541 +/- 0.003 micro m, which is quite similar as the general interstellar medium (ISM). The resulting intracluster dust component is found to have negligible polarization efficiency as compared to interstellar dust. Some of the observed stars in IC 1805 have shown the indication of intrinsic polarization in their measurements.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures, Accepted for publication in MNRA

Atlas based simulation study of junctionless double gate (DG) tunnel FET

Tunnel Field Effect Transistor has recently attracted the attention of many researchers through its high Ion/Ioff ratio and a very less subthreshold slope. In this work Junction-less double gate tunnel field effect transistor’s performance has been studied which has been designed using charge plasma concept which can form the source and drain regions without the need for any doping by choosing appropriate work functions for the source and drain metal electrodes. A very important parameter of this device has been studied, i.e. the threshold voltage of this device. It has been seen that the variation of the threshold voltage with respect to the varying channel length of the device in almost nil. Also using it has been found that this device has a subthreshold slope of 56.7mV/decade with channel length of 50nm which is much lesser compared to the 60mV/decade subthreshold slope of a MOSFET, proving that this device can be used for switching performance in the future. Though the performance of the junction-less double gate TFET does not vary much compared to doped double gate Tunnel Field Effect Transistor, it is expected to be removed from all problems associated with random dopant fluctuations. Also its fabricating is possible on single crystal silicon-on-glass substrates which is formed by wafer scale epitaxial transfer
