Sharp change over from compound nuclear fission to shape dependent quasi fission

Fission fragment mass distribution has been measured from the decay of 246^{246}Bk nucleus populating via two entrance channels with slight difference in mass asymmetries but belonging on either side of the Businaro Gallone mass asymmetry parameter. Both the target nuclei were deformed. Near the Coulomb barrier, at similar excitation energies the width of the fission fragment mass distribution was found to be drastically different for the 14^{14}N + 232^{232}Th reaction compared to the 11^{11}B + 235^{235}U reaction. The entrance channel mass asymmetry was found to affect the fusion process sharply.Comment: 4 pages,6 figure

Diazoxide-responsive hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia caused by HNF4A gene mutations

Objective: The phenotype associated with heterozygous HNF4A gene mutations has recently been extended to include diazoxide responsive neonatal hypoglycemia in addition to maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). To date, mutation screening has been limited to patients with a family history consistent with MODY. In this study, we investigated the prevalence of HNF4A mutations in a large cohort of patients with diazoxide responsive hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia (HH). Subjects and methods: We sequenced the ABCC8, KCNJ11, GCK, GLUD1, and/or HNF4A genes in 220 patients with HH responsive to diazoxide. The order of genetic testing was dependent upon the clinical phenotype. Results: A genetic diagnosis was possible for 59/220 (27%) patients. KATP channel mutations were most common (15%) followed by GLUD1 mutations causing hyperinsulinism with hyperammonemia (5.9%), and HNF4A mutations (5%). Seven of the 11 probands with a heterozygous HNF4A mutation did not have a parent affected with diabetes, and four de novo mutations were confirmed. These patients were diagnosed with HI within the first week of life (median age 1 day), and they had increased birth weight (median +2.4 SDS). The duration of diazoxide treatment ranged from 3 months to ongoing at 8 years. Conclusions: In this large series, HNF4A mutations are the third most common cause of diazoxide responsive HH. We recommend that HNF4A sequencing is considered in all patients with diazoxide responsive HH diagnosed in the first week of life irrespective of a family history of diabetes, once KATP channel mutations have been excluded

Background: Se'I culture is a series of activities aimed to take care of mother during puerperium that consisted of abstain from certain foods, warming of mothers and Tatobi (compress) within 40 days. Mother during lactation period belong to age group that are susceptible to lack of nutrition because while breastfeeding the baby, they are undergoing recovery, menstruation and fulfilling their physical needs. Besides, during breastfeeding mother loose micro and macro nutrients such as zinc and calcium exerted throug breast milk. Abstain from food, either in types, amount or frequency, will bring negative impact to the fulfillment of mother during parturition period. Objective: the study aimed to get an overview of the nutrient fulfillment of mother during puerperium in relation to the implementation of Se'I culture among Timor tribe.Method: the study was qualitative that used phenomenological approach with mother during puerperium period of Timor tribe as subject of the study. Data were obtained through indepth interview, observation and food recall 24 hours. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman Model. Result: care that was carried out during the implementation of Se'I culture aimed to support the process of recovery and maintain the physical condition as it was before pregnancy. The fulfillment of nutrients of mother during the practice of Se'I did not meet nutrition sufficiency as recommended.Conclution: intake of nutrition of mothers during the practice of Se'I did not fulfill the need for nutrition and consume other foods that contained equal amount of nutrients when mothers were abstain from certain types of foods

&nbsp

Antifungal Activity of Petrolium and Ethanolic Extracts of Moringa Oleifera Leaves against Penicillium Chrysogenum and Cryptococcus Neoformans

Moringa oleifera is well known medicinal plant. Its different parts are widely used for the treatment of different types of diseases since is have antibacterial and antifungal activity. The leaves are rich in iron, rhamnose and a unique group of compounds called glucosinolates and isothiocyanates. Other medical proprieties include antipyretic, antiepileptic, antiinflamatory, antiulcerative, antihypertensive, cholesterol lowering, antioxidant, anti diabetic. The current investigation was undertaken to evaluate the antifungal activities by petroleum ether and ethanolic extracts of Moringa oleifera leaves against Penicillium crysogenum and Cryptococcus neoformans. From our study, it is found that as concentration of Moringa leaves extract increases the diameter of zone of inhibition found increased. The results were higher and effective for ethanolic extract than petroleum extract. The result were also found more effective against Cryptococcus neoformans than Penicillium crysogenum
