Vibration Induced Non-adiabatic Geometric Phase and Energy Uncertainty of Fermions in Graphene
We investigate geometric phase of fermion states under relative vibrations of
two sublattices in graphene by solving time-dependent Sch\"{o}dinger equation
using Floquet scheme. In a period of vibration the fermions acquire different
geometric phases depending on their momenta. There are two regions in the
momentum space: the adiabatic region where the geometric phase can be
approximated by the Berry phase and the chaotic region where the geometric
phase drastically fluctuates in changing parameters. The energy of fermions due
to vibrations shows spikes in the chaotic region. The results suggest a
possible dephasing mechanism which may cause classical-like transport
properties in graphene.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
A Tri-band-notched UWB Antenna with Low Mutual Coupling between the Band-notched Structures
A compact printed U-shape ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with triple band-notched characteristics is presented. The proposed antenna, with compact size of 24×33 mm2, yields an impedance bandwidth of 2.8-12GHz for VSWR<2, except the notched bands. The notched bands are realized by introducing two different types of slots. Two C-shape half-wavelength slots are etched on the radiating patch to obtain two notched bands in 3.3-3.7GHz for WiMAX and 7.25-7.75GHz for downlink of X-band satellite communication systems. In order to minimize the mutual coupling between the band-notched structures, the middle notched band in 5-6GHz for WLAN is achieved by using a U-slot defected ground structure. The parametric study is carried out to understand the mutual coupling. Surface current distributions and equivalent circuit are used to illustrate the notched mechanism. The performance of this antenna both by simulation and by experiment indicates that the proposed antenna is suitable and a good candidate for UWB applications
Anomalous particle-number fluctuations in a three-dimensional interacting Bose-Einstein condensate
The particle-number fluctuations originated from collective excitations are
investigated for a three-dimensional, repulsively interacting Bose-Einstein
condensate (BEC) confined in a harmonic trap. The contribution due to the
quantum depletion of the condensate is calculated and the explicit expression
of the coefficient in the formulas denoting the particle-number fluctuations is
given. The results show that the particle-number fluctuations of the condensate
follow the law and the fluctuations vanish when
temperature approaches to the BEC critical temperature.Comment: RevTex, 4 page
Local vertical measurements and violation of Bell inequality
For two qubits belonging to Alice and Bob, we derive an approach to setup the
bound of Bell operator in the condition that Alice and Bob continue to perform
local vertical measurements. For pure states we find that if the entanglement
of the two qubits is less than 0.2644 (measured with von Neumann entropy) the
violation of the Bell inequality will never be realized, and only when the
entanglement is equal to 1 the maximal violation () can occur. For
specific form of mixed states, we prove that the bound of the Bell inequality
depends on the concurrence. Only when the concurrence is greater than 0.6 the
violation of the Bell inequality can occur, and the maximal violation can never
be achieved. We suggest that the bound of the Bell operator in the condition of
local vertical measurements may be used as a measure of the entanglement.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Twisted split-ring-resonator photonic metamaterial with huge optical activity
Coupled split-ring-resonator metamaterials have previously been shown to
exhibit large coupling effects, which are a prerequisite for obtaining large
effective optical activity. By a suitable lateral arrangement of these building
blocks, we completely eliminate linear birefringence and obtain pure optical
activity and connected circular optical dichroism. Experiments at around
100-THz frequency and corresponding modeling are in good agreement. Rotation
angles of about 30 degrees for 205nm sample thickness are derived.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Localized Asymmetric Atomic Matter Waves in Two-Component Bose-Einstein Condensates Coupled with Two Photon Microwave Field
We investigate localized atomic matter waves in two-component Bose-Einstein
condensates coupled by the two photon microwave field. Interestingly, the
oscillations of localized atomic matter waves will gradually decay and finally
become non-oscillating behavior even if existing coupling field. In particular,
atom numbers occupied in two different hyperfine spin states will appear
asymmetric occupations after some time evolution.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Deep Attributes Driven Multi-Camera Person Re-identification
The visual appearance of a person is easily affected by many factors like
pose variations, viewpoint changes and camera parameter differences. This makes
person Re-Identification (ReID) among multiple cameras a very challenging task.
This work is motivated to learn mid-level human attributes which are robust to
such visual appearance variations. And we propose a semi-supervised attribute
learning framework which progressively boosts the accuracy of attributes only
using a limited number of labeled data. Specifically, this framework involves a
three-stage training. A deep Convolutional Neural Network (dCNN) is first
trained on an independent dataset labeled with attributes. Then it is
fine-tuned on another dataset only labeled with person IDs using our defined
triplet loss. Finally, the updated dCNN predicts attribute labels for the
target dataset, which is combined with the independent dataset for the final
round of fine-tuning. The predicted attributes, namely \emph{deep attributes}
exhibit superior generalization ability across different datasets. By directly
using the deep attributes with simple Cosine distance, we have obtained
surprisingly good accuracy on four person ReID datasets. Experiments also show
that a simple metric learning modular further boosts our method, making it
significantly outperform many recent works.Comment: Person Re-identification; 17 pages; 5 figures; In IEEE ECCV 201
