Adiabatic Heavy Ion Fusion Potentials for Fusion at Deep Sub-barrier Energies
The fusion cross sections from well above barrier to extreme sub-barrier
energies have been analysed using the energy (E) and angular momentum (L)
dependent barrier penetration model ({\small{ELDBPM}}). From this analysis, the
adiabatic limits of fusion barriers have been determined for a wide range of
heavy ion systems. The empirical prescription of Wilzynska and Wilzynski has
been used with modified radius parameter and surface tension coefficient values
consistent with the parameterization of the nuclear masses. The adiabatic
fusion barriers calculated from this prescription are in good agreement with
the adiabatic barriers deduced from {\small{ELDBPM}} fits to fusion data. The
nuclear potential diffuseness is larger at adiabatic limit, resulting in a
lower leading to increase of "logarithmic slope" observed at
energies well below the barrier. The effective fusion barrier radius and
curvature values are anomalously smaller than the predictions of known
empirical prescriptions. A detailed comparison of the systematics of fusion
barrier with and without L-dependence has been presented.Comment: Revtex file of 6 pages and 3 eps figure
Reproductive characters in linseed as affected by different levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and PH
The influence of varying levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and pH on the reproductive characters of flax (Linum usitatissimum) grown m sand cultures was investigated. The fertility of the plants was calculated by taking total ovule number and seeds produced into consideration. The results indicate that heavy application of nitrogen, and to a lesser extent phosphorus, enhanced the formation of flower buds but curtailed the development of flowers and fruits. Fertility level was reduced accordingly. Optimum hydrogen ion concentration for bud, flower, and fruit formation occurred at pH 6. Fertility level was not significantly affected by the pH range. The influence of pH seems to be related to the uptake of nitrogen
Can pigeonpea hybrids negotiate stresses better than inbred cultivars?
Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] is an important rainfed pulse crop of tropics and sub-tropics, and
during its long growth cycle of 6–9 months it encounters a number of biotic and abiotic stresses. The recently
developed CMS-based pigeonpea hybrids have demonstrated large gains in yield and stability over the traditional
inbred cultivars. In this review, the authors argue that the heterosis expressed in traits like seed germination,
radicle growth, root biomass production and moisture retention during water stress confers advantages
to hybrid plants in negotiating a few abiotic and biotic stresses in much better way than pure line cultivars
Two-Proton Radioactivity with 2p halo in light mass nuclei A1834
Two-proton radioactivity with 2p halo is reported theoretically in light mass
nuclei A 18-34. We predict Mg, Si, S, Ar and
Ca as promising candidates of ground state 2p-radioactivity with
S 0. Observation of extended tail of spatial
charge density distribution, larger charge radius and study of proton single
particle states, Fermi energy and the wave functions indicate 2p halo like
structure which supports direct 2p emission. The Coulomb and centrifugal
barriers in experimentally identified 2p unbound Si show a quasi-bound
state that ensures enough life time for such experimental probes. Our
predictions are in good accord with experimental and other theoretical data
available so far.Comment: 5 Pages, 5 figure
Gossip Codes for Fingerprinting: Construction, Erasure Analysis and Pirate Tracing
This work presents two new construction techniques for q-ary Gossip codes
from tdesigns and Traceability schemes. These Gossip codes achieve the shortest
code length specified in terms of code parameters and can withstand erasures in
digital fingerprinting applications. This work presents the construction of
embedded Gossip codes for extending an existing Gossip code into a bigger code.
It discusses the construction of concatenated codes and realisation of erasure
model through concatenated codes.Comment: 28 page
