Trichoderma koningii and Trichoderma harzianum as destructive mycoparasites of Sclerotinia slerotiorum.
Three T. koningii (Tk 3, 5 and 12) and one T. harzianum (Th 9) strain isolated from S. sclerotiorum sclerotia were found to reduce the growth of the patogens by over 60% relative to that of the control. These strains also hyperparasited the sclerotia. All were also highly competitive when assessed in the saprophytic competitiveness test. Extra cellular enzyme production was not particularly correlated with antagonistic activity, Tk 12 and Th 9 produced some Beta-glucosidase and no endoglucanase. In contrast, Tk3, 5 and 12 produced large amounts of antibiotics, causing between 30% and 80% inhibition of growth of the pathogen. The interactions between T. harzianum strain and S. sclerotiorum appeared to be mycoparasitism, and results from the sclerotial survival tests showed they were also capable of destroying sclerotia

Triton photodisintegration in three-dimensional approach
Two- and three- particles photodisintegration of the triton is investigated
in a three-dimensional (3D) Faddeev approach. For this purpose the Jacobi
momentum vectors for three particles system and spin-isospin quantum numbers of
the individual nucleons are considered. Based on this picture the three-nucleon
Faddeev integral equations with the two-nucleon interaction are formulated
without employing the partial wave decomposition. The single nucleon current as
well as and like exchange currents are used in an appropriate
form to be employed in 3D approach. The exchange currents are derived from AV18
NN force. The two-body t-matrix, Deuteron and Triton wave functions are
calculated in the 3D approach by using AV18 potential. Benchmarks are presented
to compare the total cross section for the two- and three- particles
photodisintegration in the range of . The 3D Faddeev
approach shows promising results
Design and Control of Perylene Supramolecular Polymers through Imide Substitutions
The number and type of new supramolecular polymer (SMP) systems have increased rapidly in recent years. Some of the key challenges faced for these novel systems include gaining full control over the mode of selfâassembly, the creation of novel architectures and exploring functionality. Here, we provide a critical overview of approaches related to peryleneâbased SMPs and discuss progress to exert control over these potentially important SMPs through chemical modification of the imide substituents. Imide substitutions affect selfâassembly behaviour orthogonally to the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of the perylene core, making for a valuable approach to tune SMP properties. Several recent approaches are therefore highlighted, with a focus on controlling 1) morphology, 2) Hâ or Jâ aggregation, and 3) mechanism of growth and degree of aggregation using thermodynamic and kinetic control. Areas of potential future exploration and application of these functional SMPs are also explored
Designing Research
The aim of this chapter is to set out a process that researchers can follow to design a robust quantitative research study of occupant behavior in buildings. Central to this approach is an emphasis on intellectual clarity around what is being measured and why. To help achieve this clarity, researchers are encouraged to literally draw these relationships out in the form of a concept map capturing the theoretical model of the cause and effect between occupant motivations and energy use. Having captured diagrammatically how the system is thought to work, the next step is to formulate research questions or hypotheses capturing the relationship between variables in the theoretical model, and to start to augment the diagram with the measurands (things that can actually be measured) that are good proxies for each concept. Once these are identified, the diagram can be further augmented with one or more methods of measuring each measurand. The chapter argues that it is necessary to carefully define concepts and their presumed relationships, and to clearly state research questions and identify what the researcher intends to measure before starting data collection. The chapter also explains the ideas of reliability, validity, and uncertainty, and why knowledge about them is essential for any researcher
The Role of Demographic and Clinical Characteristics on Risk of COVID-19 Related Infection and Mortality
Since the emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) which causes Covid-19, global health systems have struggled to cope with the rising number of related infections, acute admissions and mortalities. Poorer clinical outcomes have been observed amongst older patients with Covid-19 and males, and in those who are obese or who have darker skin(1) . Additionally, poorer outcomes including increased mortality have been associated with low vitamin D status(2,3) . The current observational study aimed to elucidate the association between patient demographic, anthropometric, clinical and biometric characteristics and Covid-19 disease severity and mortality

The s-mote: a versatile heterogeneous multi-radio platform for wireless sensor networks applications
This paper presents a novel architecture and its
implementation for a versatile, miniaturised mote which
can communicate concurrently using a variety of
combinations of ISM bands, has increased processing
capability, and interoperability with mainstream GSM
technology. All these features are integrated in a small
form factor platform. The platform can have many
configurations which could satisfy a variety of
applicationsâ constraints. To the best of our knowledge, it
is the first integrated platform of this type reported in the literature. The proposed platform opens the way for
enhanced levels of Quality of Service (QoS), with respect to
reliability, availability and latency, in addition to
facilitating interoperability and power reduction
compared to existing platforms. The small form factor also
allows potential of integration with other mobile platforms
including smart phones
The Effect of a Gluten-Free Diet in Children With Difficult-to-Manage Nephrotic Syndrome
Case reports have linked childhood nephrotic syndrome to food sensitivity, including gluten. We report our experience with 8 children (6 boys, 2 girls; age at implementation of special diet 2â14 years) with difficult-to-manage nephrotic syndrome who were placed on a gluten-free diet for 3.4 ± 4.3 years (range, 0.6â14 years) and who had clinical improvement enabling reduction or discontinuation in steroid dosage
