The Complex Langevin method: When can it be trusted?

We analyze to what extent the complex Langevin method, which is in principle capable of solving the so-called sign problems, can be considered as reliable. We give a formal derivation of the correctness and then point out various mathematical loopholes. Dynamics of F=2 Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates

We experimentally investigate and analyze the rich dynamics in F=2 spinor Bose-Einstein condensates of Rb87. An interplay between mean-field driven spin dynamics and hyperfine-changing losses in addition to interactions with the thermal component is observed. In particular we measure conversion rates in the range of 10^-12 cm^3/s for spin changing collisions within the F=2 manifold and spin-dependent loss rates in the range of 10^-13 cm^3/s for hyperfine-changing collisions. From our data we observe a polar behavior in the F=2 ground state of Rb87, while we measure the F=1 ground state to be ferromagnetic. Sexualidade, homossexualismo e convivência

The author starts by rapidly describing the profound social changes that are occurring in human societies in this end of the century and millennium, after which he concentrates on the role of sexuality in these changes, especially as refers to its function in the area of human relationships. From there he returns to the biblical texts, concentrating on Old Testament texts and specifically questioning about the connection between sexuality and human relationships as it is expressed in these texts. Sexuality is analyzed with relation to the family and to worship before the author begins discussing specifically the issue of homosexuality, which is analyzed by him with exegetical expertise and with attention to hermeneutics. The last part of the article returns to the contemporary horizons with hermeneutical and theological reflections.O autor começa descrevendo rapidamente as profundas mudanças sociais por que passam as sociedades humanas neste final de século e milênio, concentrando-se em seguida no papel da sexualidade dentro destas mudanças, especialmente a sua função no âmbito da convivência humana. A partir daí, retoma aos textos bíblicos, concentrando-se nos textos do Antigo Testamento e perguntando especialmente pela relação entre sexualidade e convivência neles expressa. A sexualidade é analisada em relação à família e ao culto, antes de se discutir especificamente a questão da homossexualidade, analisada pelo autor com perícia exegética e atenção hermenêutica. A Palavra Divina nos Doze Profetas e no Saltério: algumas observações

Resumo: Estamos acostumados a pensar diferentemente sobre a voz divina nos livros proféticos e no Saltério. Em ambos os escritos o Senhor fala diretamente ao povo. Mas quem eram os alocutores concretos? Os textos bíblicos dão nomes pessoais aos profetas, os mediadores da palavra de Javé nos salmos permanecem anônimos. A maioria das nomeações nos livros proféticos, no entanto, ocorreram posteriamente, pelos colecionadores e compositores tardios da tradição. Será que a voz divina nos tempos do exílio-pós-exílio realmente foi proclamada pelos levitas ou pregadores das assembleias sinagogais? Talvez eles leram textos proféticos, sapienciais, da “instrução” popular (Torah) para uma audiência de maneira homilética?
