Organizational stressors for the students teachers in state universities
AbstractThe purpose of the present study conducted according to survey method is to determine the organizational stressors for the senior student teachers in the state universities of Turkey and then make some suggestions to find solutions. In this way, the present study aims to contribute to better education of the student teachers who will exert great influence on the quality of future generations. The data of the study were collected from 3869 student teachers attending 42 different state universities in Turkey. The data were analyzed through SPSS 14.0 program package. It was found that some variables in the teacher education system such as the perceived inequality in the allocation of the teaching posts, inadequate teaching posts and KPSS exam lead to stress. Significant correlations were found between the organizational stressors and gender and students’ being whether day-time or night-time students, but no significant correlation was found between the organizational stressors and the faculty attended. Moreover, in general, the participants stated that they are not content with their universities but with their departments and they think that teaching materials and tools are not sufficient
Analysis of lysosomal Neu4 sialidase associated proteins by using mass spectrometry (MS/MS)

There are 4 different sialidases known in mammalians. These are Neu1 (lysosomal), Neu2 (cytoplasmic), Neu3 (cell membrane) and Neu4 (lysosomal/mitochondrial) sialidase. Sialidases are involved in many metabolic and cellular processes interactioning with another proteins or work together in multiprotein complexes. For example, Neu1 is only active with betagalactosidase and cathepsin A enzyme in lysosome. Interactions of sialidases Neu2, Neu3 and Neu4 enzyme with other proteins remain unknown In our study, we aimed to identify proteins which have interaction with sialidase Neu4 as well as Neu1 by using mass spectrometry analysis to find new possible roles of sialidases. Our bait protein's cDNA was tagged with calmodulin binding protein as well as streptavidin binding protein. After transfection and expression of vectors to mammalian cells, proteins were purified using tandem affinity purification (TAP). We identified some associated proteins with sialidase Neu1 and Neu4 by using MS/MS analysis and bioinformatics
Investigation of the Learning Styles of Pre-Service Sports Teachers Enrolled at a Pedagogical Formation Program
The purpose of the current study is to investigate the learning styles of the students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences. These students are enrolled at the pedagogical formation program and attending different departments of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. The study is a descriptive study employing the general survey model. As the data collection tool, “Vermunt Learning Styles Scales (VLSS)” was used. The study group of the current research is comprised of Sports Sciences Faculty students enrolled at the pedagogical formation program at the Education Faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in 2016-2017 academic year. The findings of the study revealed that while the re-service sports sciences teachers’ study activities (information processing and organization) and study motives (mental model of learning and learning orientation) do not vary significantly depending on gender, age, branch, the state of having a coaching license or not and the state of working in a job or not, they vary significantly depending on department (coaching, sports management, recreation, physical education and sports teaching) and general academic achievemen
The Relationship between the Pre-service Classroom Teachers’ Techno Pedagogical Instructional Competencies and Epistemological Beliefs
The purpose of the current study is to determine the relationship between the pre-service classroom teachers’ epistemological beliefs and techno pedagogical subject-area competencies. While the universe of the study is comprised of a total of 187 senior pre-service teachers attending the Department of Classroom Teacher Education in Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University in 2014-2015 academic year, the sampling consists of 141 pre-service teachers selected through the random sampling method from among the universe. The reason for selecting the senior students for the universe of the study was that they had already taken the subject-area, pedagogical and general culture courses. In the collection of the research data, The Techno Pedagogical Competency Scale and Epistemological Belief Scale and a personal information form were used. The data were analyzed by using IBM SPSS 21.0 program package. During the analysis process, first it was tested whether the data display a normal distribution and after it was determined that the data show a normal distribution, from among the descriptive statistics, t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to reveal the differences and Pearson-product Moment Correlation Coefficient analysis was used to elicit the correlations. The analyses revealed that the pre-service classroom teachers’ level of techno pedagogical competencies is high and their level of epistemological beliefs is medium. Gender and academic grade point average were found to be not leading to significant differences in their techno pedagogical subject-area competencies. Moreover, a negative and significant correlation was found between the pre-service classroom teachers’ techno pedagogical subject-area competencies and epistemological beliefs
Comparison of the Play and Physical Activities Course in the Elementary School Program with Similar Courses from Some European Countries
One of the most important tools of learning at school, play and physical
activities aim to contribute to the development of students’ bodily and physical skills
as well as to enhance their self-confidence, happiness, mental health and academic
achievement. In our country and in the world, courses of play and physical activities
can be found in different levels of schooling from pre-school to higher education.
When the primary and secondary education was reconstructed as 4+4+4 in Turkey
in 2012-2013, the course of “Play and Physical Activities” was incorporated into the
curricula of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades at elementary education. The purpose of thecurrent study is to conduct an analysis of the Play and Physical Activities Course
through comparison with similar courses from Germany, France, England and Italy.
To this end, the study employed literature review, one of the qualitative research
methods. The findings of the study revealed that the Play and Physical Course in
Turkey shows some similarities to Physical Education and Sports Courses in
Germany, France, England and Italy.Okulda en önemli öğrenme araçlarından birisi olan oyun ve fiziki etkinlikler

Evaluation of Play and Physical Activities Course Taught in Elementary Schools on the basis of Classroom Teachers’ Opinions
Araştırmanın amacı, ilkokulda çalışan sınıf öğretmenlerinin programda yer alan oyun ve fiziki etkinlikler dersi hakkındaki görüşleri ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması kullanılarak desenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılında Muğla ili Menteşe ilçesinde çalışan ve gönüllü olarak katılan 20 sınıf öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veriler amaca uygun olarak hazırlanan açık uçlu sorular ile toplanmış, analizinde betimsel analiz kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre öğretmenler; oyun ve fiziki etkinlikler dersinin kazanım, ders kitabı ve etkinlikler açısından sorunlar taşıdığını; oyun ve fiziki etkinlikler dersinde kullanılabilecek araç-gereçlerin temin edilemediğini ortaya koymuşlardır.The purpose of the current study is to elicit the opinions of the classroom teachers working in elementary schools about the course of play and physical activities in the elementary school curriculum. The current study was designed by using the case study, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the current research is comprised of 20 classroom teachers working in the Menteşe province of the city of Muğla in 2014-2015 school year, participating on a voluntary basis. The data of the study were collected through open-ended questions developed for the purpose of the study and in their analysis, descriptive analysis was used. The results of the study revealed that the teachers are of the opinion that the course of play and physical activities has some problems in terms of expected outcomes, textbook and activities and tools-equipments that can be used in the course of play and physical activities are not supplied
Klasizm ve Modernizm Bağlamında Halil Merdem Bek’in Şiir Anlayışı
Öz: Osmanlı ve Suriye tarihinin en buhranlı günlerinde yaşayan Halil Merdem Bek,Suriye’nin yetiştirdiği önde gelen edebiyatçı ve şairlerdendir. O, gerçek edebiyatçının sadece klasik Arap edebiyatıyla yetinemeyeceğine; Arap edebiyatının yanında batı edebiyatı ve fikirlerini de iyi bilmesi gerektiğine inanmaktadır. Bundan dolayı Mehcer ve İhyâ grubu gibi edebî ekollerin yanında Avrupa’daki edebî akımlarla da ilgilenmiş, bunun için İngiltere’de doktora eğitimi almıştır.Yazdığı şiirlerinde hocalarının, modern edebî grupların ve Avrupa’nın etkisigörülmektedir.Şiirlerinde kimi zaman beyitler arasındaki konu birliğine riayet etmiş, kimi zaman da farklı konular işlemiştir. Bir yandan dili düzgün kullanmaya dikkat ederek sağlam terkiplerle kafiyeli şiirler yazarak klasik üsluba uygun şiirler yazarkendiğer yandan da farklı tema ve cümle kurgularıyla modern edebî üslubu şiirlerine yansıtmayı başarmıştır.
Bu çalışmanın konusu, Halil Merdem Bek’in hayatına kısaca yer verilmesi, eğitim durumu ve edebî kişiliğinin incelenmesi şeklindeolmaktadır. Sonra edebî kişiliğini etkileyen faktörler olan hocaları,Mehcer ve İhyâ grubuna olan ilgisi ile İngiltere’de aldığı doktora eğitimi üzerinde durulmuştur. Daha sonra daşiirinin dil ve üslup özellikleri incelenmiştir. Aynı andaklasik ve modern şiire olan eğilimi üzerinde durulmuştur.Bu bağlamda elde edilen bilgilerle sonuç kısmında konuyla ilgili değerlendirme yapılmıştır
Dynamic Analysis of a Suspension Bridge Using CFRP Composite Material
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) is a class of advanced composite materials used in civil
engineering because of their advantages when these materials are compared to traditional ones.
These advantages are light weight, high stiffness-to-weight and strength-to-weight ratios,
damping capabilities, and high resistance to environmental degradation. This paper presents a
numerical study on the dynamic analysis of a suspension bridge subjected to earthquake ground
motion using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials. Bosporus Suspension Bridge is
selected for application. The cross-sectional areas of CFRP elements are determined by the
principle of either equivalent-stiffness or equivalent-strength methods. The YPT330 component
of Yarımca station records of 1999 Kocaeli Earthquake is chosen as a ground motion. The
calculated displacement and internal forces occurring in the towers and deck are examined. It is
seen from the analyses results that, CFRP material are more effective than steel material for
suspension bridges
The Examination of Academic Support Perception and Stress Related to Academic Expectation of Teacher Candidates

Forth grade students in departments of German, science, English, music, pre-school, psychological counseling and guidance, art, Turkish, classroom, social sciences teaching in faculty of education and physical education and sports teaching in faculty of sport sciences at Mugla Sitki Kocman University participated in the study. Students Academic Support Scale, developed by Mazer and Thopson (2011), adapted to Turkish language by Arslan and Akın (2014), was used to find out perceived academic support. Academic Expectation Stress Inventory, developed by Ang and Huan (2006), adapted to Turkish language by Akın, Abacı and Çetin (2009), was used to find out level of academic expectation stress. Data was analyzed by using independent t test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Moment Correlation. Significant differences were found between genders in terms of informational, esteem, motivational and venting support, and expectation of self. Significant differences were found between some of departments in terms of academic support and academic expectation stress. Significant correlations were found between academic support and academic expectation stress. Public Personnel Selection Examination markedly affects the careers of teacher candidates, includes them in a difficult competition and causes teacher candidates and their families to have great expectations. Abnormal liver function tests in pregnant patients with COVID-19 — a retrospective cohort study in a tertiary center
Objectives: The current study aimed to describe the incidence of abnormal liver function tests (LFTs) in pregnant COVID-19 patients, explore the association between LFTs with current medication, and provide a reference for medical therapy of pregnant patients with COVID-19.
Material and methods: This retrospective single tertiary center cohort study included 122 pregnant patients with confirmed COVID-19 admitted and treated from April 1, 2020, to May 31, 2020. We defined abnormal LFTs as the elevation of the following liver enzymes in serum per our hospital’s laboratory reference range standards: AST > 35 U/L, ALT > 35 U/L, and TBIL > 1.2 mg/dL. We evaluated patients for demographic and clinical features, laboratory parameters, medications, and hospital length of stay (LOS).
Results: Patients in this cohort had clinical presentations of fever (84.4%), dry cough (78.6%), and shortness of breathing (6.5%). In total, 17 (13.9%) patients had abnormal LFTs during hospitalization. Critically ill patients were three-fold higher in the abnormal LFTs group (11.8%) than in the normal LFTs group (3.8%, p = 0.16). The proportion of patients who used hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir were significantly higher in patients with abnormal LFTs (88.2% and 35.3%, respectively) than those with normal LFTs (62.9% and 15.2%, p = 0.04 and p = 0.04, respectively). The hospital length of stay (LOS) was significantly longer in the abnormal LFTs group (8.2 ± 5.8 days) than in the normal LFT group (6.0 ± 2.8 days, p = 0.02).
Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 may induce liver injury and the LFT abnormality was generally mild in pregnant patients with COVID-19. Abnormal LFTs are associated with prolonged hospital LOS. Drug use was the most crucial risk factor for liver injury during hospitalization. The use of lopinavir/ritonavir and hydroxychloroquine were significantly higher, and the course of treatment of these drugs was significantly longer in pregnant women with abnormal LFTs than the patients with normal LFTs. Therefore, pregnant women with COVID-19 who received antiviral treatment should be closely monitored for evaluating LFTs
