Varsány: Egy északmagyarországi falu megismételt társadalomnéprajzi vizsgálata

A vizsgálat, amely Varsány cigány lakosságára is kiterjedt, három fő témakörre fókuszált: 1/ gazdaság és a társadalmi rétegződés, 2/ a kommunikációs rendszer, 3/ az értékrendszer változása a rendszerváltást követően. 1/ A mezőgazdaság üzemstruktúrájának átalakulásával és más munkahelyek megszűnésével csökkent az aktív keresők száma. Kevesekből lett vállalkozó, döntésüket a tsz felbomlásakor megszerezhető előnyök, családi háttér, korábbi tapasztalatok és egyéni adottságok egyaránt motiválták. A kisbirtokok kiegészítő jövedelemszerzésre adnak esélyt, így tovább él a távoli munkavállalás hagyománya, de kevesebbeket érint, mint korábban. A következmény társadalmi polarizáció, amelyet fékez a falubeli társadalmi hálók, az állami szociális háló, a közoktatás idejének kitolódása - korántsem lezárt társadalmi átrendeződésre vezetve.2. Mind technikailag, mind jellegében változott a véleményformálás rejtettebb módját téve lehetővé, miközben a közterek szerepe csökkent. Az információs bázis kiszélesedése ellenére a kormányzati szint információs várakozásai és a falubeliek fogadási és adási képessége között komoly szakadék tátong. 3. A változás korábban megindult tendenciát erősített fel. A "becsületesség" helyét átvette a rámenősség. Nőtt a lányok szabadsága, de megmaradt a fiúk nagyobb respektusa. A fiatalok körében terjed a könnyedebb életvitel eszménye. Közben csökken a családméret és nő a javak fitogtatásával vívott versengés. | The restudy of Varsány since the socioeconomic changes in 1990 focused on three themes : 1/ economy and social stratification, 2/ communication system, 3/ value system. It included the Gipsy population too.1/ The number of active earners decreased after the restructuring of agriculture, industry and services in the evolving market economy. Only a few people have become entrepreneurs. Their choice was motivated by family background, personal experiences and inclination in addition to economic factors.Small holdings provide only additional income. Thus a tradition of commuting has been maintained, though involving less people than earlier.As a consequence social polarisation gets on, though social networks in the village, a social security net and a lengthening of the educational period put a brake on it. A restructuring of the local society has not been completed yet. 2/ Changing technique resulted in changing forms of behaviour. Covered modes replaced more overt forms in forming public opinion. Despite increasing channels there seems to be a gap between expectations of the government and the ability of the locals in giving and receiving information.3/ Former trends has been strengthened in the new era. Honesty has been replaced with assertiveness. Freedom of girls has increased, but boys enjoy more respect. An ideal of a lighter life spreads in the youth together with a decreasing family size and growing competition in window dressing

Engineering quantum systems for information processing and metrology using atoms, superconductors, and light

This thesis intends to give a concise yet meaningful overview about the progress in the physical realization of quantum information processing using hybrid systems of ultracold atoms and superconducting microwave resonators, describing our own theoretical and experimental contributions to advancing. Ultracold atoms in their ground states are well-isolated quantum systems offering long coherence times, and therefore are prime candidates for quantum memory applications. Their performance is limited by their sensitivity on external magnetic-field noises and inhomogeneous Zeeman shifts inherently present in magnetic traps. We have developed an efficient method to eliminate the magnetic-field dependence of the differential Zeeman shift between the magnetically trappable clock-states up to second order around an arbitrarily chosen offset field, hence rendering atom-based quantum memory insensitive to magnetic noises. We describe two protocols to mediate long-range interactions between Rydberg atoms using a thermally populated microwave cavity, realizing universal 2-bit quantum gates. This is of great practical interest, since in existing hybrid atom-superconducting resonator experiments the attainable temperature is not low enough to reach the vacuum state of the cavity mode. The first method relies on active mode cooling using an auxiliary reservoir of atoms. The second method makes use of a destructive quantum interference between different excitation paths, making the scheme insensitive to the actual photon state of the cavity. We also report on a new laboratory for optical lattice clocks that we have established in parallel with this work. We present a novel concept for continuously operated atomic clocks, along with the steps we have taken towards its experimental realization

Illegális tevékenységek a svéd, a holland és a magyar statisztika alapján

A tanulmány a Svédországban, Hollandiában és Magyarországon zajló illegális tevékenység statisztikai adatait elemzi. A szerző azért ezeket az országokat vizsgálja, mert egyrészt rájuk áll rendelkezésre hosszabb időszakot átfogó adatsor, másrészt ezek az országok igen eltérő módon közelítenek a prostitúció és a kábítószer mint az illegálisan megfigyelni kívánt két legfontosabb terület szabályozásához. Mindhárom országban 1999-ben jelentős változásokat hajtottak végre ezeken a területeken, s tanulságos lehet, hogy ezek az intézkedések milyen eredményeket hoztak. Az elemzése hozzásegíthet az illegális tevékenységek nemzetközi összehasonlításához, Magyarországon a megfigyelési kör kiterjesztéséhez, a további vizsgálatokhoz, valamint a hivatalos statisztikai adatok elemzése segítségével a prostitúció- és kábítószer- szabályozás kérdésköréhez.
