Taller de historia “La mujer tutelada” del Archivo Histórico Provincial de Córdoba: la dimensión educativa y social del archivo

    Get PDF
The transformations that archives are going through should have their reflection in the educational and social role that they play. In that sense, we proceed on the basis that every document can be pedagogically communicated, whatever its nature or the audience to which it is directed. On the other hand, through the content of archival documents, we become aware of great social changes that have taken place over time, especially those related to women’s history. To show that part of our history and raise awareness about the need to continue working for gender equality, we have developed a workshop for 2nd and 4th-year students from E.S.O. We use a participatory approach to show documents from the 16th to the 20th century, trying to capture their attention and promoting debate at all times

Bibliotecas de las órdenes religiosas en Andalucía

Our knowledge of the libraries of religious orders in Andalusia is quite deficient due to the scarcity of the sources that we have and the little attention that scholars have devoted to it. The laboriousness of these works, which can collect hundreds or even thousands of books, often discourages researchers. Although there is no global study on the history of these libraries in Andalusia, we have more and more studies that bring us closer to their reality, beyond the mere quantification of their holdings, and allow us to complete our vision of them. In this work we show the evolution of the libraries of the monastic orders in Andalusia

The estate files are an important part of the judicial archives. Their economic nature and complexity determine that they include all kinds of records related to the goods and people involved, and therefore have been preserved to a greater extent than other archival series. In this paper we analyze the estate files from Juzgado de Primera Instancia e Instrucción de Rute (16th to 19th centuries), kept in Archivo Histórico Provincial de Córdoba, from an archival, diplomatic, historical point of view, to draw attention to their value and wealth of content

De documentos de archivo a historias dignas de ser contadas. Hacia una narración archivística

    Get PDF
Telling or listening to stories is something that defines human beings. With the arrival of the Internet and social networks, the demand for content has increased considerably. Our archives are full of experiences to be narrated. In this narrative, literary techniques will help us determine the most appropriate style for our story, the point of view, title, choice of characters, etc. In addition, the literary narration and the archive document have a thing in common: conflict, generated by a person’s struggle to achieve something. The purpose of this work is to give brief indications to those archivists who feel the need and even the obligation to make our documentary heritage known

Señales de humo. La destrucción bibliográfica durante la Guerra Civil

During the Second Spanish Republic the book ceased to be a mere information medium to become a symbol. In the popular libraries of athenaeums and syndicates, the book represented the possibility of a better life for the people and a threat to the privileges of the ruling classes. On the other hand, ecclesiastical libraries and archives, notarial archives and of all kinds kept a past that some wanted to erase. When the Spanish Civil War began, there were attacks on the bibliographic heritage perpetrated by both sides

La Esclavitud: Barbarie Institucionalizada. Nuevo taller de historia del Archivo Histórico Provincial de Córdoba // Slavery: institutionalized barbarism. New history workshop of the Archivo Histórico Provincial de Córdoba

There was a time not too long ago when one person could own another. The slave was completely dependent on its owner and how it could well be sold, rented, mortgaged ... At present our image of that situation does not conform to what it really was, since we have known it through movies, the Internet or social networks. With this history workshop we continue the work begun with the women’s history workshop and we try to show with a participatory pedagogy what life was like for these people. Through documents from the funds of the Provincial Historical Archive of Córdoba and with the collaboration of the students, we present real events and try to dismantle some of the most widespread myths. It is about bringing a rigorous history closer to young people in an entertaining and participatory way, in short of turning the archive into a history classroom

We've rebuilt the Jesuits' College of La Encarnacion Library in Montilla. We started with the catalogue made by the own Library in 1749, then adding all the surviving books with the Library's handwritten note of possession as well as several documentary sources of archives and libraries. As a result, we've created a catalogue, alphabetically sorted, in which we've mirrored the Library's original catalogue, adding all the data we've been able to gather from the remaining volumes. Additionally, we've done a bibliographic study of the collection, analyzing its topics and other marked aspects and dwelling on the works and authors of greatest relevance

The knowledge of an author's library is a very effective tool for internal criticism of their works and their intellectual and spiritual formation. With this purpose we offer here a study of the inventory of books that belonged to Juan de Ávila in his last years of life. The history of these books is closely linked to the College of the Society of Jesus of the town of Montilla (Córdoba), founded by Catalina Fernández de Córdoba, Marquise de Priego, at the request of Juan de Avila himself, who, as is known, kept close relations with the Jesuits. Avila donated to the Jesuit College of Montilla, after his death, the books that were his property or that were part of his library, as indicated in the work "Origen y principio del Colegio de la Compañía de Jesús de Montilla". After the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767, all the books were sent to the Biblioteca Pública del Palacio Episcopal de Córdoba, now the Biblioteca Diocesana de Córdoba, where they are currently kept
