A Bilateral Approach to Realignments in the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (March 1979 to December 1992) by Jean-Sébastien Pentecôte and Marc- Alexandre Sénégas In this paper, we present a model for realigning the exchange rate in a bilateral target zone. This modeling forms a bridge between two analytic movements: target zones and balance of payments crises. We use this theoretical framework to construct a Tobit model to study realignments in the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM) from March 1979 to December 1992. We examine the question of whether these realignments can be regarded as resulting from a decision-making rule shared by the founder members of the ERM and whether any long-run trends can be discerned in their nature and activation for the period studied. Cette modélisation se situe au confluent de deux courants d'analyse : les zones cibles et les crises de balance des paiements. À partir de ce cadre théorique, nous construisons un modèle Tobit pour étudier des réalignements qui se sont produits dans le Mécanisme de change européen (MCE) entre mars 1979 et décembre 1992. Nous examinons si ces derniers peuvent être envisagés comme résultant d'une règle de décision commune aux membres fondateurs du MCE et s'il peut être dégagé, sur la période étudiée, des tendances lourdes dans leur nature et leur déclenchement. International audienceThe Li ion mobility in 3 solid electrolytes of CdI2-derived structure, Li8SnO6, Li7NbO6 and Li6In2O6 was studied by NMR from 170 to 500 K. The octahedral vacancies in the lattice sheets of Li7NbO6 and Li6In2O6 have a predominant influence on the conductivity mechanism. In Li8SnO6, which has no such vacancies, the Li ions situated in the tetrahedral sites have the highest mobility

19F NMR investigation of the Pb1-xMgxF2 solid solution

An 19F source NMR investigation of the Pb1−xMgxF2 solid solution is undertaken as a function of temperature. Several F− ion sublattices are identified, they become progressively mobile on the NMR time scale at increasing temperature. Clusters are proposed from the composition dependence of the anionic distribution determined by deconvolution of the low temperature 19F source NMR spectra. Temperature dependence of the jump frequency shows the existence of several F− ion motions corresponding to exchange motions inside and between fluoride sublattices

Short-range order and diffusion processes in the Na1-xBixF1+2x anion-excess solid solution

The F− diffusion processes within the anion-excess solid solution Na1−xBixF1+2x with fluorite-type structure have been studied by 19F-NMR investigation. Two types of fluoride ions, Fn and F′, are distinguished in the 19F-NMR spectra of rigid lattice at low temperature (T=175 K) and the distribution of fluoride ions among the two sites is determined by deconvolution of the experimental spectra. The short-range order in these materials is analogous to the clustering process observed in the K1−xBixF1+2x solid solution. It corresponds to an order between cubic entities and cubooctaedral clusters. Two diffusion mechanisms are identified on both sides of a Tr temperature. The first one at TTr to an F− exchange between cubic and cubooctaedral clusters
