Growth and Prospects of Agro-Processing Industries in Punjab

    Get PDF
Present study attempts to examine the growth and prospects of agro-processing industries in Punjab in the post liberalization period. Punjab that used to perform reasonably well in terms of industrialization, few years back, is today facing the industrial crunch owing to obvious reasons. Keeping present trends in mind, the state needs to emulate the growth path adopted by China, explicitly, wherein thrust to development had been on the manufacturing sector. With availability of food grain production round the year, it seems viable also in the state to develop the agro processing industries. In fact, researchers have pointed out that Punjab’s agriculture has reached a stage where its sustainability is in doubt. If such apprehensions turn out to be true, then future of masses will also land in darkness. Development of agro-processing industries at this juncture, are perceived to be the stimulator that can revamp the vanished glory of the state. The study is an attempt made through empirical framework to find out the conditions for the development of agro-processing industries in the state.Keywords. Performance characteristics of an adaptive controller based on least-mean-square filters

    Get PDF
A closed loop, adaptive control scheme that uses a least mean square filter as the controller model is presented, along with simulation results that demonstrate the excellent robustness of this scheme. It is shown that the scheme adapts very well to unknown plants, even those that are marginally stable, responds appropriately to changes in plant parameters, and is not unduly affected by additive noise. A heuristic argument for the conditions necessary for convergence is presented. Potential applications and extensions of the scheme are also discussed

The speed of sound and specific heat in the QCD plasma: hydrodynamics, fluctuations and conformal symmetry

    Get PDF
We report the continuum limits of the speed of sound, c_s, and the specific heat at constant volume, c_v, in quenched QCD at temperatures of 2Tc and 3Tc. At these temperatures, c_s is within 2-sigma of the ideal gas value, whereas c_v differs significantly from the ideal gas. However, both are compatible with results expected in a theory with conformal symmetry. We investigate effective measures of conformal symmetry in the high temperature phase of QCD.Comment: Table II has been changed to show the contrubutions of the terms containing covariances clearly. An internal channel in a metal body for use in applications where internal fluid flow within a metal body is desired, as in a heat exchanger. The internal channel is formed in the metal body by frictionally stirring with a pin plunged into the metal body, and traversing the metal body with the pin

    Superplastic Forming of Micro Components

    Get PDF
A method for forming a miniaturized shaped component. Bulk superplastic material is contacted with a flat rotating surface of a rotating tool to frictionally heat the bulk superplastic material with the bulk superplastic material positioned between the flat rotating surface of the tool and a micro fabricated tool die. The bulk superplastic material is forced into the microfabricated die once the bulk superplastic material is heated to a temperature between a glass transition temperature and a crystallization temperature

PHYSIOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF PRETREATED BIOMEDICAL WASTES

    Get PDF
Objectives: The main objective of the research is to pretreat the Category III biomedical waste using Bacillus flexus and to assess the physiochemical properties of pretreated biomedical waste. Methods: Major pretreatment methods such as physical (P), chemical (C), biological (using B. flexus) (B), physical and chemical, and physical, chemical, and biological method (PCB) were adopted for this investigation. The nutritional status was analyzed before and after the pretreatment. The physiochemical parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, moisture content, bulk density, cellulose content, and carbohydrate content were assessed. Results: There was a significant difference between before and after the pretreatments of physiochemical properties. By treating, the biomedical waste with B. flexus has produced a drastic change in the cellulose level. By the assessment of each parameter before and after the pretreatment, the percentage of cellulose levels was found to be 35-40 in PCB method. Conclusions: Hence, the study concludes that the pretreated biomedical waste contains suitable physiochemical properties, which may be used as a substrate for the production of vermicompost
