Naturalness of an Utterance Based on the Automatically Retrieved Commonsense

    Get PDF
In this research we investigated user’s behavior while facing a system coping with common knowledge about keywords and compared it with not only classic word-spotting method but also with random text-mining. We show how even a simple implementation of our idea can enrich the conversation and increase the naturalness of computer’s utterances. Our results show that even very commonsensical utterances are more natural than classic approaches and also methods we developed to make a conversation more interesting. For arousing opinion exchange during the session, we will also briefly introduce our idea of combining latest NLP achievements into one holistic system where the main engine we want to base on commonsense processing and affective computing.

Possible Usage of Sentiment Analysis for Calculating Vectors of Felific Calculus

Abstract-In this paper we introduce an algorithm for affective reasoning based on Bentham's Felific Calculus known also as the hedonic calculus. Knowledge recquired for the task is retrived from a blog corpus by means of sentiment analysis on sentences containing an action or state input. This approach allows a machine to gather information on how usually other people feel when something happens, why people did it and what could happen after the act. Such knowledge is important for understanding actions of others, and for acquiring emphatic skills by a machine. In addition to emotion categorization of Nakamura, we introduce two lexicons based on McDougall's instinct classification and Kohlbergian stages of moral development, then show some basic efficiency of the retrieved knowledge

A design for testability study on a high performance automatic gain control circuit.

    Get PDF
A comprehensive testability study on a commercial automatic gain control circuit is presented which aims to identify design for testability (DfT) modifications to both reduce production test cost and improve test quality. A fault simulation strategy based on layout extracted faults has been used to support the study. The paper proposes a number of DfT modifications at the layout, schematic and system levels together with testability. Guidelines that may well have generic applicability. Proposals for using the modifications to achieve partial self test are made and estimates of achieved fault coverage and quality levels presente

Conversational control interface to facilitate situational understanding in a city surveillance setting

In this paper we explore the use of a conversational interface to query a decision support system pro- viding information relating to a city surveillance setting. Specifically, we focus on how the use of a Controlled Natural Language (CNL) can provide a method for processing natural language queries whilst also tracking the context of the conversation with relation to past utterances. Ultimately, we pro- pose our conversational approach leads to a versa- tile tool for providing decision support with a low enough learning curve such that untrained users can operate it either within a central command location or when operating within the field (at the tactical edge). The key contribution of this paper is an il- lustration of applied concepts of CNLs as well as furthering the art of conversational context tracking whilst using such a technique. Brute - Force Sentence Pattern Extortion from Harmful Messages for Cyberbullying Detection

Cyberbullying, or humiliating people using the Internet, has existed almost since the beginning ofInternet communication. The relatively recent introduction of smartphones and tablet computers has caused cyberbullying to evolve into a serious social problem. In Japan, members of a parent-teacher association (PTA)attempted to address the problem by scanning the Internet for cyber bullying entries. To help these PTA members and other interested parties confront this difficult task we propose a novel method for automatic detection of malicious Internet content. This method is based on a combinatorial approach resembling brute-force search algorithms, but applied in language classification. The method extracts sophisticated patterns from sentences and uses them in classification. The experiments performed on actual cyberbullying data reveal an advantage of our method vis-Ă -visprevious methods. Next, we implemented the method into an application forAndroid smartphones to automatically detect possible harmful content in messages. The method performed well in the Android environment, but still needs to be optimized for time efficiency in order to be used in practic

Update of the recommendations of the Fertility Preservation Working Group in Oncological, Hematological and Other Patients Treated with Gonadotoxic Therapies “ONCOFERTILITY” (GROF) of the Polish Society of Oncological Gynecology regarding cryopreservation and autologous ovarian tissue transplantation. The Fertility Preservation Working Group in Oncological, Hematological and Other Patients Treated with Gonadotoxic Therapies “ONCOFERTILITY” (GROF) of the Polish Society of Oncological Gynecology has developed current clinical guidelines and recommendations to improve the quality of healthcare provision in the area of reproductive health in patients undergoing therapy that may impair their reproductive potential. The guidelines are based on current scientific evidence available at the time of writing this document. In the absence of scientific evidence on some aspects, a consensus was reached among GROF stakeholders. The purpose of the guidelines is to assist healthcare professionals in making decisions in specific clinical situations regarding the selection of an appropriate and effective diagnostic and therapeutic process. The document provides practical guidelines for the management of cryopreservation and autologous ovarian tissue transplantation
