Experimental Demonstration of Adaptive Quantum State Estimation

    Get PDF
The first experimental demonstration of an adaptive quantum state estimation (AQSE) is reported. The strong consistency and asymptotic efficiency of AQSE have been mathematically proven [ A. Fujiwara J. Phys. A 39 12489 (2006)]. In this Letter, the angle of linear polarization of single photons, the phase parameter between the right and the left circularly polarization, is estimated using AQSE, and the strong consistency and asymptotic efficiency are experimentally verified. AQSE will provide a general useful method in both quantum information processing and metrology.Comment: 5pages, 4figure

Synthesis and circularly polarized luminescence properties of BINOL-derived bisbenzofuro[2,3-b:3′,2′-e]pyridines (BBZFPys)

A series of optically active bisbenzofuro[2,3-b:3′,2′-e]pyridine (BBZFPy) derivatives was synthesized starting with the readily available (S)- and (R)-1,1′-bi-2-naphthols through a palladium-catalyzed multiple intramolecular C-H/C-H coupling as the key ring-closure step. The effect of terminal tert-butyl substituents on the BBZFPy skeleton was systematically investigated to uncover a unique aggregation-induced enhancement of CPL characteristics in the solid state. The crystal structures of the coupling products were also evaluated by single crystal X-ray analysis and the well-ordered intermolecular stacking arrangements appeared to be responsible for the enhanced CPL.Beilstein J. The W-treated pyrolytic graphite (PG) furnace made it possible to enhance the precision (RSD <2%), calculated limit of detection (LOD) and sensitivity of Pb by a 100 μL injection with 5 μL of modifier of 1w/v% NH4H2PO4 and 1w/v% (NH4)2HPO4. Using the phosphate modifier gave the LOD of 0.02 μg L-1 with a hollow cathode lamp as a radiation sauce. The modification effect on sulfate matrices, such as Na2SO4, K2SO4 and MgSO4 remaining a severe interference for a Pd modifier, was extended to be the upper limit to 50, 50 and 10 mg L-1 as cation concentration for each matrix, respectively. The recoveries of 1.00 μg L-1 of Pb added to tap, river and snow water samples were to be 104 ± 1 %, 105 ± 1 % and 102 ± 3 % with 1w/v% NH4H2PO4and to be 99±3 %, 99±2 % and 101±4 % with 1w/v% (NH4)2HPO4, respectively. The Pb concentration of Pb in a certified reference material of river water (MNIJ CRM 7202-a) was agreement with the certified value (1.01±0.02μg kg-1

ヒト胎児心臓の心筋線維方向を追跡 --受精後8週の心筋線維は成人と同じ配列をする--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2020-10-09.Background: Detection of the fiber orientation pattern of the myocardium using diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging lags ≈12 weeks of gestational age (WGA) behind fetal myocardial remodeling with invasion by the developing coronary vasculature (8 WGA). We aimed to use diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging tractography to characterize the evolution of fiber architecture in the developing human heart from the later embryonic period. Methods and Results: Twenty human specimens (8–24 WGA) from the Kyoto Collection of Human Embryos and Fetuses, including specimens from the embryonic period (Carnegie stages 20–23), were used. Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging data were acquired with a 7T magnetic resonance system. Fractional anisotropy and helix angle were calculated using standard definitions. In all samples, the fibers ran helically in an organized pattern in both the left and right ventricles. A smooth transmural change in helix angle values (from positive to negative) was detected in all 16 directions of the ventricles. This feature was observed in almost all small (Carnegie stage 23) and large samples. A higher fractional anisotropy value was detected at the outer side of the anterior wall and septum at Carnegie stage 20 to 22, which spread around the ventricular wall at Carnegie stage 23 and in the early fetal samples (11–12 WGA). The fractional anisotropy value of the left ventricular walls decreased in samples with ≥13 WGA, which remained low (≈0.09) in larger samples. Conclusions: From the human late embryonic period (from 8 WGA), the helix angle arrangement of the myocardium is comparable to that of the adult, indicating that the myocardial structure blueprint, organization, and integrity are already formed
