    Chemical Variation in Molecular Cloud Cores in the Orion A Cloud

    We have observed molecular cloud cores in the Orion A giant molecular cloud (GMC) in CCS, HC3N, DNC, and HN13C to study their chemical characteristics. We have detected CCS in the Orion A GMC for the first time. CCS was detected in about a third of the observed cores. The cores detected in CCS are not localized but are widely distributed over the Orion A GMC. The CCS peak intensity of the core tends to be high in the southern region of the Orion A GMC. The HC3N peak intensity of the core also tends to be high in the southern region, while there are HC3N intense cores near Orion KL, which is not seen in CCS. The core associated with Orion KL shows broad HC3N line profile, and star formation activity near Orion KL seems to enhance the HC3N emission. The column density ratio of NH3 to CCS is lower near the middle of the filament, and is higher toward the northern and southern regions along the Orion A GMC filament. This ratio is known to trace the chemical evolution in nearby dark cloud cores, but seems to be affected by core gas temperature in the Orion A GMC: cores with low NH3 to CCS column density ratios tend to have warmer gas temperature. The value of the column density ratio of DNC to HN13C is generally similar to that in dark cloud cores, but becomes lower around Orion KL due to higher gas temperature.Comment: 26 pages, 18 figures, to be published in Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japa

    Factors Associated with Remission and/or Regression of Microalbuminuria in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

    The aim of this study was to clarify the factors associated with the remission and/or regression of microalbuminuria in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. We retrospectively analyzed the data of 130 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with microalbuminuria for 2-6 years (3.39±1.31 years). Remission was defined as improving from microalbuminuria to normoalbuminuria using the albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR), and regression of microalbuminuria was defined as a decrease in ACR of 50% or more from baseline. Progression of microalbuminuria was defined as progressing from microalbuminuria to overt proteinuria during the follow-up period. Among 130 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with microalbuminuria, 57 and 13 patients were defined as having remission and regression, respectively, while 26 patients progressed to overt proteinuria. Sex (female), higher HDL cholesterol and lower HbA1c were determinant factors associated with remission/regression of microalbuminuria by logistic regression analysis. Lower systolic blood pressure (SBP) was also correlated with remission/regression, but not at a significant level. These results suggest that proper control of blood glucose, BP and lipid profiles may be associated with remission and/or regression of type 2 diabetes mellitus with microalbuminuria in clinical practice

    Spin and orbital ordering in double-layered manganites

    We study theoretically the phase diagram of the double-layered perovskite manganites taking into account the orbital degeneracy, the strong Coulombic repulsion, and the coupling with the lattice deformation. Observed spin structural changes as the increased doping are explained in terms of the orbital ordering and the bond-length dependence of the hopping integral along cc-axis. Temperature dependence of the neutron diffraction peak corresponding to the canting structure is also explained. Comparison with the 3D cubic system is made.Comment: 7 figure

    Effect of Daily Glucose Fluctuation on Coronary Plaque Vulnerability in Patients Pre-Treated With Lipid-Lowering Therapy A Prospective Observational Study

    AbstractObjectivesThis study sought to investigate the effect of daily glucose fluctuation on coronary plaque properties in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) pre-treated with lipid-lowering therapy.BackgroundThere is growing evidence that glucose fluctuation, as a residual risk apart from dyslipidemia, is an important factor contributing to the development of CAD.MethodsThis prospective study enrolled 70 consecutive CAD patients who were referred for percutaneous coronary intervention and whose low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level was <120 mg/dl under statin treatment or <100 mg/dl without statins. Daily glucose fluctuation was analyzed by measuring the mean amplitude of glycemic excursion (MAGE). The plaque properties in the culprit and nonculprit lesions were assessed by virtual histology intravascular ultrasound, and the volume percentage of necrotic core within the plaque (%NC) and the presence of thin-cap fibroatheroma were evaluated.ResultsIn total, 165 lesions were evaluated in 70 patients (40 diabetic and 30 nondiabetic patients). %NC was well correlated with MAGE (r = 0.490, p <0.001). A linear mixed effect model showed that MAGE had the strongest effect on %NC (coefficient β = 0.080 ± 0.020 [standard error], p < 0.001). The generalized linear mixed effect model revealed that MAGE was the only independent predictor of the presence of thin-cap fibroatheroma (odds ratio: 1.037; 95% confidence interval: 1.010 to 1.065; p = 0.007).ConclusionsDaily glucose fluctuation may have an effect on coronary plaque vulnerability in patients with CAD pre-treated with lipid-lowering therapy. Further investigations should address the rationale for the early detection and control of glucose fluctuation in the era of universal statin use for CAD patients

    Exploring the mirror TBA

    We apply the contour deformation trick to the Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz equations for the AdS_5 \times S^5 mirror model, and obtain the integral equations determining the energy of two-particle excited states dual to N=4 SYM operators from the sl(2) sector. We show that each state/operator is described by its own set of TBA equations. Moreover, we provide evidence that for each state there are infinitely-many critical values of 't Hooft coupling constant \lambda, and the excited states integral equations have to be modified each time one crosses one of those. In particular, estimation based on the large L asymptotic solution gives \lambda \approx 774 for the first critical value corresponding to the Konishi operator. Our results indicate that the related calculations and conclusions of Gromov, Kazakov and Vieira should be interpreted with caution. The phenomenon we discuss might potentially explain the mismatch between their recent computation of the scaling dimension of the Konishi operator and the one done by Roiban and Tseytlin by using the string theory sigma model.Comment: 69 pages, v2: new "hybrid" equations for YQ-functions, figures and tables are added.     ALMA ACA and Nobeyama Observations of Two Orion Cores in Deuterated Molecular Lines

    We mapped two molecular cloud cores in the Orion A cloud with the 7 m Array of the Atacama Compact Array (ACA) of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeterArray (ALMA) and with the Nobeyama 45 m radio telescope. These cores have bright N2D+ emission in single-pointing observations with the Nobeyama 45 m radio telescope, have a relatively high deuterium fraction, and are thought to be close to the onset of star formation. One is a star-forming core, and the other is starless. These cores are located along filaments observed in N2H+ and show narrow line widths of 0.41 km s(-1) and 0.45 km s(-1) in N2D+, respectively, with the Nobeyama 45 m telescope. Both cores were detected with the ALMA ACA 7 m Array in the continuum and molecular lines at Band 6. The starless core G211 shows a clumpy structure with several sub-cores, which in turn show chemical differences. Also, the sub-cores in G211 have internal motions that are almost purely thermal. The starless sub-core G211D, in particular, shows a hint of the inverse P Cygni profile, suggesting infall motion. The star-forming core G210 shows an interesting spatial feature of two N2D+ peaks of similar intensity and radial velocity located symmetrically with respect to the single dust continuum peak. One interpretation is that the two N2D+ peaks represent an edge-on pseudo-disk. The CO outflow lobes, however, are not directed perpendicular to the line connecting both N2D+ peaks.Peer reviewe
