Adipose tissue consists of two types of cell; the adipocyte and the non-adipocyte {Rodbell, 1964). The adipocyte is unique amongst mammalian cell types in that one class of component {TG) comprises up to 80% of its weight. These TG's constitute the major energy storage material in higher animals. The importance of adipose tissue in mammalian metabolism lies in its ability to store free-fatty acids {FFA) as TG and to release them again according to physiological demands. It is therefore understandable that the pathways of synthesis and degradation should be under strict control. Apart from adipose tissue TG metabolism is especially active in the mammary gland during lactation and in the liver and intestinal mucosa cells during synthesis and secretion of serum lipoproteins. Religious courts provide a useful service for those whose faith they represent but they are in no way replacing civil law in the area of marriage and divorce

Following the Archbishop of Canterbury’s lecture on Religious and Civil Law in 2008, the existence and status of religious courts has proved controversial in the UK. These concerns have come to the fore more recently as a result of the Arbitration and Mediation Services (Equality) Bill (HL Bill 72), introduced into the House of Lords by Baroness Cox, which seeks to regulate the operation of religious arbitration, prohibiting it from matters which lie within the jurisdiction of the criminal or family courts. However, Gillian Douglas and Russell Sandberg report here on their research at Cardiff University, which suggests that much of the debate to date, and the content of this Private Members Bill, are based on several misunderstandings

An examination of the factors that influence the publication or non-publication of mental health nursing research presented at national or international nursing conferences

Mental health nurses are required to be able to identify and access the current evidence surrounding a particular topic and evaluate and decide upon the best care approach to people with mental health problems. This is aided by specific guidance on how to facilitate access to and deliver the best quality evidence-based care. This is most commonly acquired by accessing evidence through hand searching publications or through electronic sources (databases, web search engines or internet publications). However, evidence indicates that only a small proportion of mental health nursing research is published and that many nurses carry out research that is not published. Although, it is difficult to judge the quality of unpublished research the likelihood is that a number of high quality mental health nursing research projects are not published and are therefore not available to be evaluated as part of the evidence base of care. There has been relatively little examination of the reasons underpinning publication of nursing research. Disallowances and overcapitalization in the U.S. electric utility industry

Regulation of an industry often produces unintended consequences. Averch and Johnson (1962) argue that certain regulation of electric utilities provides utilities the incentive to purchase an inefficiently large amount of capital. Another possible and related unintended consequence of electric utility regulation is that regulatory cost disallowances on capital may also increase utilities' incentives to overcapitalize. The authors provide theoretical evidence that capital expenditure disallowances will increase the Averch and Johnson effect in some instances and thus may have contributed to the overcapitalization problem that regulation was designed to discourage. Our model shows that disallowances can reduce the rate of return on investment and thereby increase the Averch and Johnson distortion.Electric utilities ; Energy industries
