Desmin-related cardiomyopathy presenting as restrictive cardiomyopathy: A case report with review of literature
Isolated cardiac involvement due to deposition of desmin is a rare cause of restrictive cardiomyopathy due to pathogenic mutation in desmin related genes. A 25 year female presented with clinical diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy for which an endomyocardial biopsy was performed. Histology including ultrastructural examination showed features of desmin cardiomyopathy
EXPLORING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MARITAL SATISFACTION, SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE, AGGRESSION, AND LOCUS OF CONTROL
<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>The present study focused on examining the potential links between marital contentment and several factors, including social media usage, aggressive behaviour, and locus of control. The research sample comprised 200 participants from the Darbhanga district in Bihar, who were selected through a purposive-cum-incidental sampling technique. The Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale (KMS), Scale of Social Networking Usage, Bhardwaj's Aggression Scale, and Rotter's Locus of Control Scale were employed to assess the variables of interest. The collected data was analysed using the Pearson correlation method. The findings indicated that social media usage, aggressive behaviour, and locus of control had a negative association with marital satisfaction. The study's results provide crucial insights into the factors that can impact marital relationships, particularly in the context of contemporary social media usage.</p>
Hamartoma of mature cardiac myocytes: Report of a rare case with review of literature
Hamartoma of mature cardiac myocyte is a benign tumor of the heart. They are characterized by haphazardly arranged hypertrophic cardiac myocytes with variable amounts of intervening fibrosis, mature adipose tissue along with irregularly distributed variable-sized vascular channels. The case presented here had a hyperechoic mass in the left ventricle arising from the midinferior and posterior interventricular septum, infiltrating into the adjacent myocardium. The MRI , histopathology findings and the clinical outcome is presented
Numbers of eyes used for IOP determination at each age group.
<p>Numbers of eyes used for IOP determination at each age group.</p
Mean (Β± SEM) semi-quantitative ON scores of male (A) and female (B) congenic C1qa DBA/2 mice.
<p>Animals are grouped in three age groups: 5β6 months of age, 9β10 months of age and 11β13 months of age. Sample sizes: 22 C1q +/+, 32 C1q +/-, 12 C1q -/- at 5β6 months, 11 C1q +/+, 6 C1q +/-, 16 C1q -/- at 9β10 months and 11 C1q +/+, 36 C1q +/-, 18 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in male mice. 12 C1q +/+, 13 C1q +/-, 19 C1q -/- at 5β6 months, 11 C1q +/+, 17 C1q +/-, 13 C1q -/- at 9β10 months, 27 C1q +/+, 16 C1q +/-, 25 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in female mice. Statistically significant differences in post-hoc comparisons are indicated by a (*). NS: no statistical significance.</p
Mean (Β± SEM) number of intersections at various radii from the cell soma of retinal microglia located in the nerve fiber layer of eyes from male (A) and female (B) C1qa +/+ and C1qa -/- mice 6 months of age.
<p>Microglia images were obtained at a distance of 1000um from the optic nerve (2 per retina).</p
Correlation between semi-quantitative scoring and counting of RGCs (A) and ON axons (B).
<p>Linear regression coefficients (<i>R</i><i>2</i>) are indicated on the graphs.</p
Mean (Β± SEM) semi-quantitative RGC scores of male (A) and female (B) congenic C1qa DBA/2 mice and RGC counts of a subset of the eyes of male (C) and female (D) animals.
<p>Animals are grouped in three age groups: 5β6 months of age, 9β10 months of age and 11β13 months of age. Sample sizes: 18 C1q +/+, 19 C1q +/-, 22 C1q -/- at 5β6 months, 14 C1q +/+, 18 C1q +/-, 18 C1q -/- at 9β10 months and 13 C1q +/+, 34 C1q +/-, 22 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in male mice. 14 C1q +/+, 16 C1q +/-, 21 C1q -/- at 5β6 months, 11 C1q +/+, 21 C1q +/-, 16 C1q -/- at 9β10 months, 11 C1q +/+, 21 C1q +/-, 16 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in female mice. Only eyes from mice in the 9β10 and 11β13 age groups were subjected to RGC counting. Sample sizes: 9 C1q +/+, 14 C1q-/- at 9β10 months, 6 C1q +/+, 11 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in males, 7 C1q +/+, 10 C1q -/- at 9β10 months, 5 C1q +/+, 14 C1q -/- at 11β13 months in females. Statistically significant differences in post-hoc comparisons are indicated by a (*). NS: no statistical significance.</p
Proportion of eyes from male (A, C, E) and female (B, D, F) congenic C1qa DBA/2 mice with various levels of ON axonal degeneration at 5β6 (A, B), 9β10 (C, D) and 11β13 (E, F) months of age.
<p>Eyes are grouped as having ON axonal degeneration below (scores <3) or above (scores β₯3) the median.</p
Semi-quantitative RGC scores (A) and ON scores (B) of all the animals (both male and female) analyzed.
<p>Each point represents the mean (Β±SEM) of between 22 and 55 eyes. C1qa +/+ animals are statistically significantly different from other groups at 9β10 months of age for RGC scores only (p<0.005, ANCOVA, Fisher LSD post-hoc comparisons) and for both RGC and ON scores at 11β13 months of age (p<0.005 and p<0.03 respectively, ANCOVA, Fisher LSD post hoc comparisons). Statistically significant differences in post-hoc comparisons are indicated by a (*). NS: no statistical significance.</p
