This paper utilizes the approach of cross-sectional data to analyze the effect of women's employment rate on fertility across states in the United States. In recent years, there is a decline in women's fertility rates in the United States. Considering the economic consequences of a declining fertility rate, this paper aims to specifically analyze and quantify the causes of the low fertility rate. We will primarily look into women's employment rate while also taking into consideration other factors such as household income, related children of the householder, personal health care expenditures, and women's educational level

Two's company, three's a crowd:The impact of corporate venture capital unit's investment partners on the corporate investor's innovation performance

This paper examines how the number, quality, and depth of the relationships, between a corporate venture capital (CVC) unit and the traditional venture capital (VC) that it coinvests with, affect the corporate investor's innovation performance. We find that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between the number and the quality of the CVC unit's partners and the corporate investor's innovation performance. The depth of the relationship weakens the diminishing benefits of coinvesting with many partners. Jointly, our findings illustrate the danger of the 'more is always better' principle in terms of VC centrality and provide in-depth insights for corporate investors to organize innovation

Comprehensive analysis of the prognosis and immune effect of the oncogenic protein Four Jointed Box 1

BackgroundThe Four Jointed Box 1 (FJX1) gene has been implicated in the upregulation of various cancers, highlighting its crucial role in oncology and immunity. In order to better understand the biological function of FJX1 and identify new immunotherapy targets for cancer, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of this gene.MethodsWe analyzed the expression profiles and prognostic value of FJX1 using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx). Copy number alterations (CNAs), mutations, and DNA methylation were analyzed through cBioPortal. The Immune Cell Abundance Identifier (ImmuCellAI) was used to examine the correlation between FJX1 expression and immune cell infiltration. The relationship between FJX1 expression and immune-related genes and immunosuppressive pathway-related genes was analyzed using The Tumor Immune Estimation Resource version 2 (TIMER2). Tumor mutational burden (TMB) and microsatellite instability (MSI) were obtained from TCGA pan-cancer data. The effect of immunotherapy and the IC50 were assessed using IMvigor210CoreBiologies and Genomics For Drug Sensitivity in Cancer (GDSC). Finally, we evaluated the impact of FJX1 on colon cancer cell proliferation and migration through in vitro functional experiments.ResultsOur study indicated that FJX1 expression was high in most cancers and was significantly associated with poor prognosis. High FJX1 expression was also linked to significant alterations in CNA, DNA methylation, TMB, and MSI. Positive correlations were found between FJX1 expression and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and with immune-related genes such as TGFB1 and IL-10 and immunosuppressive pathway-related genes such as TGFB1 and WNT1. On the other hand, FJX1 expression showed a negative relationship with CD8+ T cells. Furthermore, high FJX1 expression led to reduced effectiveness of immunotherapy and drug resistance. In colon cancer cells, FJX1 knockdown was found to decrease cell proliferation and migration.ConclusionOur research findings demonstrate that FJX1 is a new prognostic factor with a significant role in tumor immunity. Our results highlight the importance of further exploring the potential of targeting FJX1 as a therapeutic strategy in cancer

Existencial Damage Arising From Domestic Violence

This monograph aims to address the concept of existential damage, which, in short, deals with injuries to the intangible heritage that generates damage to the life project and the victim's routine. However, the work aims to further analyze these existential injuries in cases of violence against women in a family environment. With the aim of verifying whether it is possible, to some extent, to recompose by means of the existential damage of the damages generated by domestic violence. To this end, the work will focus on the evolution of soul damage in Brazilian legislation, as well as on the species of immaterial damage in the national order. Later on, the study will analyze in detail the institute of existential damage to investigate its roots in Italian doctrine in order to identify its content, as well as to understand the evolution and the legal foundations of existential damage in Brazilian law. And, finally, the study will conceptualize the modalities of domestic violence listed in the Maria da Penha Law and, from this, it will list examples of cases of domestic violence of great repercussion reported in the media, as well as in judgments, in which it is intended to demonstrate the occurrence from injuries to existential order due to domestic violence. The methodology used was the scientific method, in terms of its approach, to a qualitative research. Still, as for the scientific method, the research reveals itself as a basic, descriptive and inductive study, since it has the intention, a priori, to generate new knowledge about the existential damage, from the particular to the general, from the description of facts and phenomena certain reality. In addition, regarding the research method, as for its procedure, the monograph will have a bibliographic character. Once this scope was reached, it was possible to verify that civil liability as an instrument of protection based on open clauses must reject any offense against any right of the personality. And, the recognition of existential damage as a kind of soul damage is shown, therefore, as an increase in the integral protection network of human beings. Therefore, the application of existential damage in cases of violence against women, increases protection for the victim of domestic violence in view of the situation of violations of their fundamental rights and personality.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)A presente monografia tem por objetivo discutir sobre o instituto dano existencial que, em suma, se trata de lesões ao patrimônio imaterial que gera danos ao projeto de vida e a rotina da ofendida. Porém, o trabalho almeja, para mais, correlacionar essas lesões de ordem existencial em casos de violência contra a mulher em ambiente familiar. Com o desígnio de verificar se é possível, em alguma medida, a recomposição por meio do dano existencial das lesões geradas pela violência doméstica. Para tanto, o trabalho debruçará sobre evolução do dano anímico na legislação brasileira, assim como sobre as espécies de dano imaterial no ordenamento pátrio. Mais adiante, o estudo analisará pormenores o instituto do dano existencial para investigar sobre suas raízes na doutrina italiana afim de identificar o seu conteúdo, assim como para compreender a evolução e os fundamentos jurídicos do dano existencial no Direito Brasileiro. E, por fim, o estudo conceituará as modalidades de violência doméstica elencadas na Lei Maria da Penha e, a partir disto elencará exemplos de casos de violência doméstica de grande repercussão noticiados na mídia e em julgados, em que se demonstrará a ocorrência de lesões a ordem existencial em razão de violência doméstica. A metodologia utilizada foi o método científico, quanto à sua abordagem, a uma pesquisa qualitativa. Ainda, quanto ao método científico, a pesquisa revela-se como um estudo básico, descritivo e indutivo, pois tem o intuito, a priori, de gerar novos conhecimentos sobre o dano existencial, do particular ao geral, a partir da descrição fatos e fenômenos de determinada realidade. Ademais, no tocante, ao método de pesquisa, quanto ao seu procedimento, a monografia terá caráter bibliográfico. Uma vez alcançado tal escopo, foi possível verificar que a responsabilidade civil como um instrumento de proteção calcado em cláusulas abertas deve rechaçar qualquer ofensa a qualquer direito da personalidade. E, o reconhecimento do dano existencial como espécie de dano anímico se demonstra, portanto, como um incremento na rede de proteção integral do ser humano. Logo, a aplicação do dano existencial em casos de violência contra a mulher, aumenta a tutela de proteção da vítima de violência doméstica em face ao quadro de vulnerações aos seus direitos fundamentais e da personalidade
