NUEVOS REGISTROS DE NOTIOSOREX CRAWFORDI (INSECTIVORA: SORICIDAE) PARA MÉXICO

Three new localities that extend the distribution range of Notiosorex crawfordi (Insectivora: Soricidae) are reported for the states of Jalisco, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosi, Mexico. We report on two skulls from La Unión 28 km S Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco and Cueva la Presita 21.4 km S Matehuala, San Luis Potosí and also four fragmented skulls from Grutas de Xoxafí 6 km N Lagunillas, Hidalgo. Los mamíferos silvestres de Milpaalta, Distrito Federal: lista actualizada y consideraciones para su conservación

Field surveys and consults to mammal collections yield 45 native species of mammals for the Milpa Alta Delegation. Myotis thysanodes aztecus and Myotis volans amotus are recorded for the first time for the Federal District. Four species are included as threatened by the Mexican Government (Choeronycteris mexicana, Leptonycteris yerbabuenae, Cryptotis parva soricina y Romerolagus diazi). Ten percent of the genera and one fourth of the species with distribution in this region are endemic to Mexico. Mammals present in the Milpa Alta Delegation have affinity to two biogeographic regions with different conservation priorities. The northern part, which is the most affected by human activities, includes the lowlands with xerophytic scrub vegetation. The southern area, the best preserved and with the highest species richness, includes the highlands with coniferous forest. This region should be considered a wildlife refuge and the focus for fauna conservation programs on the Federal District.Las colectas realizadas durante dos años y la revisión de colecciones científicas confirmaron la presencia de 45 especies de mamíferos silvestres en la delegación Milpa Alta. Myotis thysanodes aztecus y Myotis volans amotus se registran por primera vez para el Distrito Federal. Cuatro especies con distribución en la Delegación están consideradas en alguna categoría de riesgo por el Gobierno Mexicano (Choeronycteris mexicana, Leptonycteris yerbabuenae, Cryptotis parva soricina y Romerolagus diazi). La décima parte de los géneros y la cuarta parte de las especies con distribución en la delegación son endémicas a México. Las especies de mamíferos presentes en la delegación Milpa Alta tienen afinidades con dos regiones zoogeográficas con diferentes prioridades de conservación. La parte norte de la delegación Milpa Alta, la más baja, está cubierta principalmente de matorral xerófilo y es la más afectada por las actividades humanas, como son la urbanización y los cultivos agrícolas. La parte sur, que corresponde a las zonas altas donde se ubica el bosque de coníferas, tiene mayor riqueza de especies y es la mejor conservada. Esta última debe ser considerada como refugio de fauna silvestre donde se puedan enfocar los programas para la conservación de mamíferos en el Distrito Federal

El valor del mito religioso, tanto para el hombre religioso como para el hombreprofano, es fundamental, ya que, como afirma Jung, la psique humanamantiene una función religiosa como tal. En particular, el mito de la aventuradel héroe mantiene su vigencia para la mentalidad del homo religiosus, comolo demuestra Joseph Campbell, quien ha enfocado esta cuestión a partir desus implicaciones psicológicas, y Mircea Eliade, quien la enfoca desde elterreno de la antropología y la filosofía. Aquí se busca conciliar la perspectivade ambos pensadores, pues coinciden en que la aventura del héroe seestructura a partir de los ritos de iniciación. Por último, se busca concluir conuna reflexión en torno al valor del mito para el hombre moderno, recurriendoa la segunda ingenuidad propuesta por el filósofo francés Paul Ricoeur

Here,we look for reconcile the perspective of both thinkers, because they agreethat the hero’s journey is structured around the initiation rituals. Finally, weconclude with a reflection on the value of myth for modern man, using thesecond naivete proposed by the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur

La puesta en valor de un patrimonio cultural y natural casi olvidado: Las jornadas "Vive La Trashumancia" de Valverde de Leganés (Badajoz)

For several years, the town hall of Valverde de Leganés, in collaboration with the council of Badajoz, has organized a few series of conferences with the title “It lives through the ‘Trashumancia’”, in interrelation with the political regional ones of the Meeting of Extremadura and those of the Government of Spain for the recovery and putting in value of the Real Gullies. In the above mentioned conferences, apart from doing a promotion of the proper resources and the conservation of a public patrimony, much tied to the history of the Extremenian municipalities, it has been observed that the principal targets are the strengthening, diffusion and sensitization with the cultural and natural heritage that turns concerning the history of the Real Gullies, for being singular routes and axes of the territory along the History.Desde hace varios años, el Ayuntamiento de Valverde de Leganés en colaboración con la Diputación Provincial de Badajoz, ha organizado unas serie de jornadas con título “Vive la Trashumancia”, en correlación con las políticas regionales de la Junta de Extremadura y las del Gobierno de España para la recuperación y puesta en valor de las Cañadas Reales. En dichas jornadas, aparte de realizarse una promoción de los recursos propios trashumantes y la conservación de un patrimonio público, muy ligado a la historia de los municipios extremeños, se ha buscado que los principales objetivos sean la potenciación, difusión y sensibilización con el patrimonio cultural y natural que gira en torno a la historia de las Cañadas Reales, por ser vías singulares y ejes vertebradores del territorio a lo largo de la Historia

Proximal analysis and profile of fatty acids on six varieties of white grain sorghum with potential use in human consumption

In Mexico, corn is the most widely used cereal, however, in arid areas it is not possible to cultivate it, so white sorghum represents an alternative. However, it is important to know the varieties nutritional content. Therefore, this study the proximal profile and fatty acids of six white sorghum varieties grown in Mexico were evaluated. Proximate analysis was carried out based on AACC methods and gas chromatography had been used for fatty acid analysis. Mazatlan and Sureño varieties showed the highest content of proteins (12%), fiber (7%), and ash (1.65%); regarding fat content, the highest values were found in Mazatlan and Costeño (4%). For fatty acid profile, saturated and unsaturated fatty acids were detected, including Omega 6 and 9. Sorghum represents an alternative, specially for arid and semiarid regions. The results indicate that these varieties are a viable source to produce foods for human consumption
