The technique is based on the interpretation of trihedral angle constraid informution. A new closed form solution io the problem is proposed. The method also provides a general analytic technique for dealing with a class of problem of shape from inverse perspective projection by using "Angle to Angle Correspondence Information ".     Increasing delirium skills at the front door: results from a repeated survey on delirium knowledge and attitudes

    Background: delirium is under-recognised in comparison to other common and serious acute disorders. A 2006 survey of UK junior doctors (not undertaking specialist training) identified poor knowledge of the diagnostic criteria and treatment of delirium. We hypothesised that increased prominence accorded to delirium in the form of national initiatives and guidelines may have had an impact on understanding among junior doctors. Objective: we repeated a multi-centre survey of knowledge of and attitudes to delirium in junior doctors (not undertaking specialist training) assessing unselected acute medical presentations (the ‘medical take’). Design: questionnaire-based survey in 48 acute hospitals in UK and Ireland. Methods: we used questionnaires designed to test understanding of delirium, including prevalence, knowledge of the DSMIV diagnostic criteria, use of specific screening tools, association with adverse outcomes and pharmacological management. Results: one thousand two hundred and fifteen trainee physicians participated. Compared with the 2006 cohort, improvements were seen in 9 of 17 knowledge-based questions and overall score improved in the 2013 cohort. Nonetheless, significant deficits in knowledge, particularly for the diagnostic criteria for delirium, remained. Conclusions: despite improvements in some aspects of delirium knowledge, the diagnostic criteria for delirium remain poorly understood.     Optimising care for patients with cognitive impairment and dementia following hip fracture

    The global shift in demographics towards aging populations is leading to a commensurate increase in age-related disease and frailty. It is essential to optimise health services to meet current needs and prepare for anticipated future demands. This paper explores issues impacting on people living with cognitive impairment and/or dementia who experience a hip fracture and are cared for in acute settings. This is important given the high mortality and morbidity associated with this population. Given the current insufficiency of clear evidence on optimum rehabilitation of this patient group, this paper explored three key themes namely: recognition of cognitive impairment, response by way of training and education of staff to optimise care for this patient group and review of the importance of outcomes measures. Whilst there is currently insufficient evidence to draw conclusions about the optimal ways of caring for patients living with dementia following hip fracture, this paper concludes that future research should improve understanding of healthcare staff education to improve the outcomes for this important group of patients

    Knowledge translation on dementia: a cluster randomized trial to compare a blended learning approach with a "classical" advanced training in GP quality circles

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Thus far important findings regarding the dementia syndrome have been implemented into patients' medical care only inadequately. A professional training accounting for both, general practitioners' (GP) needs and learning preferences as well as care-relevant aspects could be a major step towards improving medical care. In the WIDA-study, entitled "Knowledge translation on dementia in general practice" two different training concepts are developed, implemented and evaluated. Both concepts are building on an evidence-based, GP-related dementia guideline and communicate the guideline's essential insights.</p> <p>Methods/Design</p> <p>Both development and implementation emphasize a procedure that is well-accepted in practice and, thus, can achieve a high degree of external validity. This is particularly guaranteed through the preparation of training material and the fact that general practitioners' quality circles (QC) are addressed. The evaluation of the two training concepts is carried out by comparing two groups of GPs to which several quality circles have been randomly assigned. The primary outcome is the GPs' knowledge gain. Secondary outcomes are designed to indicate the training's potential effects on the GPs' practical actions. In the first training concept (study arm A) GPs participate in a structured case discussion prepared for by internet-based learning material ("blended-learning" approach). The second training concept (study arm B) relies on frontal medical training in the form of a slide presentation and follow-up discussion ("classical" approach).</p> <p>Discussion</p> <p>This paper presents the outline of a cluster-randomized trial which has been peer reviewed and support by a national funding organization – Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) – and is approved by an ethics commission.     Context-aware framework for modelling a learner

    Given the growing use of mobile devices, there is an increasing interest in the potential for supporting the mobile learners. Therefore, many researches have been conducted in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) in the past decade. Context awareness and adaptability are two key enablers for intelligent systems that provide effective recommendations to users to optimize their learning process in the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) filed. This research developed a framework that enables context aware recommendations for an optimized learning process through identification of learning styles, categorization of the learners to the appropriate group and providing context aware learning recommendations based on the categorization. In this work we have identified the useful contextual information and developed a complete learner model by collecting, storing and modeling the identified contextual information. The contextual information is captured and filtered through a simple mobile app, which is a mobile interface to the Moodle learning management system. The proposed model is implemented on the Moodle learning management system and the system can be extended to provide recommendations for enhanced learning experience to the learners. The developed system is evaluated using a sample dataset collected over a period of one week of Moodle access by twenty users for fifty topics related to computer science.
