    Letter, W. S. Rosecrans to General George H. Thomas, December 7, 1863

    Get PDF
This handwritten letter, dated December 7, 1863, is written from W. S. Rosecrans, a Union general during the American Civil War to General George H. Thomas, an American general in the Union Army during the American Civil War and one of the principal commanders in the Western Theater. The letter describes the work of a Mr. Bourlin and Rosecrans\u27 desire to send him to work with General Thomas as Bourlin is too well known to be of further use to Rosecrans\u27s unit. There are visible blemishes on the paper due to ink smudges. This letter was found tipped into volume six, between pages 336-337 of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.https://scholarsjunction.msstate.edu/fvw-manuscripts-nicolay-and-hay-documents/1034/thumbnail.jp

    QCM Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (QTGA) Comparisons

    Get PDF
The ASTM E-1559 apparatus has been used for years at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) to determine in situ outgassing rate information, as well as pertinent in situ TML and multiple VCM values. The apparatus also affords the opportunity to experimentally compute the evaporation rates of molecular species that are reemitted as the Quartz Crystal Microbalances (QCMs) are gradually warmed up at some controlled temperature. Typically the molecular mass that accumulates onto the test QCMs are a compilation of species that are outgassing from the sample due to their respective activation energies and the desorption processes that the sample undergoes at various tested temperatures. It has been speculated that if there is too much molecular buildup of condensed water vapor (ice) onto the QCM crystal that a significantly higher temperature would be needed to break these "ice" bonds. ASTM E-1559 data plots will be used to demonstrate the thermogravimetric effects of water and other miscible molecular species with various water/ice thicknesses and at different evaporation rates

Cyberwarfare and Law Enforcement: Top 5 Things to Know

Cyberwarfare has been dubbed the third world war. If you have been following the news media, then you know it is practically here; nations spying on each other, allegedly meddling in elections or even in their democratic processes. So what is the role of Law Enforcement in this? What should Law Enforcement know, in order to deal with Cyberwarfare?https://fuse.franklin.edu/ss2018/1049/thumbnail.jp

Experimental Stress Analysis of Stiffened Cylinders with Cutouts : Pure Bending

    Get PDF
Bending tests were made on a cylindrical semimonocoque shell of circular cross section. The cylinder was tested without a cutout and then with a rectangular cutout which was successively enlarged through six sizes varying from 30 degrees to 130 degrees in circumference and from 1 to 2 bays in length. Strain measurements were made with resistance-type wire strain gages near the cutout on the stringers, the skin, and the rings for each size of cutout, and the stresses obtained are presented in tables. Supersonic Jet Tests of Missile Stabilizers

Seven stabilizers were tested at a Mach number of 2 in order to determine the effects of aerodynamic heating and loading on the structural stability of the stabilizer. The models differed in internal structure and postcure temperatures of the laminated Fiberglass skin. Tests were made at various stagnation temperatures between 440 F and 625 F. The postcure temperatures of the Fiberglass skins were found to affect significantly the ability of the model to withstand the imposed test conditions
