Ground survey of active Central American volcanoes in November - December 1973
The author has identified the following significant results. Thermal anomalies at two volcanoes, Santiaguito and Izalco, have grown in size in the past six months, based on repeated ground survey. Thermal anomalies at Pacaya volcano have became less intense in the same period. Large (500 m diameter) thermal anomalies exist at 3 volcanoes presently, and smaller scale anomalies are found at nine other volcanoes
Volcanic activity and satellite-detected thermal anomalies at Central American volcanoes
The author has identified the following significant results. A large nuee ardente eruption occurred at Santiaguito volcano, within the test area on 16 September 1973. Through a system of local observers, the eruption has been described, reported to the international scientific community, extent of affected area mapped, and the new ash sampled. A more extensive report on this event will be prepared. The eruption is an excellent example of the kind of volcanic situation in which satellite thermal imagery might be useful. The Santiaguito dome is a complex mass with a whole series of historically active vents. It's location makes access difficult, yet its activity is of great concern to large agricultural populations who live downslope. Santiaguito has produced a number of large eruptions with little apparent warning. In the earlier ground survey large thermal anomalies were identified at Santiaguito. There is no way of knowing whether satellite monitoring could have detected changes in thermal anomaly patterns related to this recent event, but the position of thermal anomalies on Santiaguito and any changes in their character would be relevant information
An investigation of thermal anomalies in the Central American volcanic chain and evaluation of the utility of thermal anomaly monitoring in the prediction of volcanic eruptions
The author has identified the following significant results. Ground truth data collection proves that significant anomalies exist at 13 volcanoes within the test site of Central America. The dimensions and temperature contrast of these ten anomalies are large enough to be detected by the Skylab 192 instrument. The dimensions and intensity of thermal anomalies have changed at most of these volcanoes during the Skylab mission
The Operator form of 3H (3He) and its Spin Structure
An operator form of the 3N bound state is proposed. It consists of eight
operators formed out of scalar products in relative momentum and spin vectors,
which are applied on a pure 3N spin 1/2 state. Each of the operators is
associated with a scalar function depending only on the magnitudes of the two
relative momenta and the angle between them. The connection between the
standard partial wave decomposition of the 3N bound state and the operator form
is established, and the decomposition of these scalar function in terms of
partial wave components and analytically known auxiliary functions is given.
That newly established operator form of the 3N bound state exhibits the
dominant angular and spin dependence analytically. The scalar functions are
tabulated and can be downloaded. As an application the spin dependent nucleon
momentum distribution in a polarized 3N bound state is calculated to illustrate
the use of the new form of the 3N bound state.Comment: 21 pages, 1 table, 8 figures, revtex
New Forms of Deuteron Equations and Wave Function Representations
A recently developed helicity basis for nucleon-nucleon (NN) scattering is
applied to th e deuteron bound state. Here the total spin of the deuteron is
treated in such a helicity representation. For the bound state, two sets of two
coupled eigenvalue equations are developed, where the amplitudes depend on two
and one variable, respectively. Numerical illustrations based on the realistic
Bonn-B NN potential are given. In addition, an `operator form' of the deuteron
wave function is presented, and several momentum dependent spin densities are
derived and shown, in which the angular dependence is given analytically.Comment: 19 pages (Revtex), 9 fig

FAA Storm Water Program
United states Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) promulgated regulations in November 16, 1991 pursuant to the Clean Water Act in the issuance of National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit application regulations for storm water discharge. These regulations concern certain municipal and industrial activities. Air transportation facilities are included in the industrial activity category. The EPA storm water regulations specifically target airport deicing operations as an industrial activity. These regulations may increase Airport Improvement Program (AlP) trust fund expenditures for storm water control improvements. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), therefore, initiated a storm water program to assist airport operators in complying and meeting the new EPA storm water regulations
Non-locality of Foldy-Wouthuysen and related transformations for the Dirac equation
Non-localities of Foldy-Wouthuysen and related transformations, which are
used to separate positive and negative energy states in the Dirac equation, are
investigated. Second moments of functional kernels generated by the
transformations are calculated, the transformed functions and their variances
are computed. It is shown that all the transformed quantities are smeared in
the coordinate space by the amount comparable to the Compton wavelength

Comment on ``Evidence for Narrow Baryon Resonances in Inelastic pp Scattering''
Compton scattering data are sensitive to the existence of low-mass resonances
reported by Tatischeff et al. We show that such states, with their reported
properties, are excluded by previous Compton scattering experiments.Comment: One page, submitted to PR
