Reintroducción de la malaria falciparum en la región de Tumbes

La región de Tumbes históricamente ha presentado casos de malaria por Plasmodium vivax y falciparum. El último caso autóctono de malaria por Plasmodium falciparum en la región de Tumbes fue reportado en el año 2006 de la localidad de Pampa Grande. En los últimos cuatro años solo se han reportado casos de malaria por Plasmodium vivax. En el año 2010, en el mes de enero se reportó un caso importado de malaria por Plasmodium falciparum en un efectivo del ejército peruano procedente de la región de Loreto (Perú) y en febrero de 2010 otro caso en un trabajador de un empresa de langostas que viajaba permanentemente al Ecuador. A partir del 25 de octubre de 2010, en la localidad de Tumbes se reportan casos de malaria por Plasmodium falciparum cuyo cuadro clínico se caracteriza por fiebre, malestar general, escalofríos ,dolor de cabeza y falta de apetito

Los accidentes de tránsito constituyen una causa importante de muerte, lesiones y discapacidades en el Perú. Cada día este problema tiene alto impacto en la salud pública. Los accidentes de tránsito son noticias de“último momento”, en todos los medios del país. Año tras año, hay que lamentar miles de muertes, pero también hay una gran cantidad de personas que sufren heridas de gravedad. Ser partícipe de un accidente implica sufrir lesiones que pueden demandar un largo período de recuperación o hasta dejar secuelas de por vida.12 Los daños que generan los choques, sea cual fuere la forma, pueden ser de gran importancia y las personas lo podrían sufrir por mucho tiempo. Por esta razón, es fundamental utilizar correctamente los dispositivos de seguridad del automóvil: el cinturón de seguridad, el apoyacabezas y la posición correcta del asiento para estar bien sentado frente al volante. MEMBANGUN BRAND LOVE DAN LOYALITAS KONSUMEN: ANALISIS PENGARUH BRAND TRUST DAN BRAND EXPERIENCE PADA PENGGEMAR KOPI JANJI JIWA

The food and beverage industry has continued to grow since the coronavirus pandemic. The development of coffee shops in Indonesia is increasing from year to year, and this development is aligned with the expanding consumption of coffee among the population. Indonesia's climate and geography support farmers' coffee bean production, making Indonesia the third largest Robusta coffee producer in the world. Kopi Janji Jiwa is a cafe that focuses on coffee beans sourced from Indonesian farmers.  This study aims to analyze the effect of brand trust and brand experience on brand love, attitudes, loyalty, and loyalty behavior of Janji Jiwa coffee consumers. This causality research explores and ascertains causal relationships. The subjects of this research are Janji Jiwa coffee consumers in Surabaya city. The sample of this study consisted of 170 respondents who were selected using a Google Forms questionnaire. Respondent data was processed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) technique and tested using SmartPLS3 software. The results showed that brand trust has a positive and significant effect on brand love. Brand experience has a positive and significant effect on brand love. Brand love has a positive and significant effect on attitude loyalty. Brand love has a positive and significant effect on behavioral loyalty of Surabaya Janji Jiwa Coffee consumers

Susceptibilidad de Anopheles albimanus a los insecticidas en cuatro localidades de Tumbes

El control de los vectores de importancia médica ha sido parte vital en la estrategia global para el control de los mosquitos involucrados en la transmisión de enfermedades, y la aplicación de insecticidas representa la medida de intervención práctica más importante y utilizada para reducir las enfermedades transmitidas por estos insectos vectores (Casabé et al.,1988). Sin embargo, en la actualidad, el incremento considerable de las enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos ha originado un grave problema de salud pública, debido en parte al desarrollo de resistencia a los insecticidas en las poblaciones de mosquitos (Hemingway et al., 2004; Liu et al., 2004) y de resistencia de los parásitos a los medicamentos antipalúdicos (Phillips, 2001; Hemingway et al., 2002). La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) define la resistencia como una característica heredada que otorga una mayor tolerancia a un plaguicida o grupo de plaguicida, de tal modo que los individuos resistentes sobreviven a una concentración del compuesto (o compuestos) que normalmente sería mortal para la especie (OMS,1992)

China's Current Naval Strategy and the South China Sea Disputes: Maritime Security Dilemma in Philippines-China Relations

While the Philippines and China declared 2012 and 2013 as years of friendly exchanges between the two countries, they are currently at odds with each other due to continuing sovereignty disputes in the South China Sea. China’s growing maritime capability, a result of theimplementation of its current naval strategy, creates security anxieties in the Philippines. These security anxieties affect the present dynamics in Philippines-China relations. In the context ofthe South China Sea Disputes, the Philippines and China are now suffering a security dilemma, a tragic situation that creates enmity rather than amity in their relations. With their security dilemma, the Philippines and China are presently trapped in a “guessing game” situation, speculating on each other’s strategic intention. Finding ways to ameliorate this security dilemma is essential for both countries to promote cooperation rather than competition in theiroverall relationship.

Oesophageal pressure-flow metrics in relation to bolus volume, bolus consistency and bolus perception

Author version made available in accordance with the publisher's policy.The utility of combined oesophageal pressure–impedance recording has been enhanced by automation of data analysis. To understand how oesophageal function as measured by automated impedance manometry (AIM) pressure-flow analysis varies with bolus characteristics and subjective perception of bolus passage. Oesophageal pressure–impedance recordings of 5 and 10 ml liquid or viscous swallows and 2 and 4 cm solid swallows from 20 healthy control subjects (five male; 25–73 years) were analysed. Metrics indicative of bolus pressurization (intrabolus pressure and intrabolus pressure slope) were derived. Bolus flow resistance, the relationship between bolus pressurization and flow timing, was assessed using a pressure-flow index. Bolus retention was assessed using the ratio of nadir impedance to peak pressure impedance (impedance ratio). Subjective perception of bolus passage was assessed swallow by swallow. Viscosity increased the bolus flow resistance and reduced bolus clearance. Responses to boluses of larger volume and more viscous consistency revealed a positive correlation between bolus pressurization and oesophageal peak pressure. Flow resistance was higher in subjects who perceived bolus hold up of solids. Bolus volume and bolus type alter oesophageal function and impact AIM analysis metrics descriptive of oesophageal function. Perception of bolus transit was associated with heightened bolus pressurization relative to bolus flow
