    ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES USING DPPH, FIC, FRAP, AND ABTS METHODS FROM ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF LEMPUYANG GAJAH RHIZOME (Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm.)

    One of the Zingiber species that has long been used as traditional medicine by local Indonesian people is lempuyang (Zingiber ssp.). In its use as traditional medicine, it is more often used than other types of lempuyang, namely the lempuyang gajah (Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm.). Therefore, this study focused on the Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. Most of the biological activities reported for this plant are attributed to phenolic contents and volatile principles. Hence, a detailed investigation of antioxidant activity, flavonoid, and phenolic content of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. rhizome was carried out. The purpose of this study was to determine the total flavonoid, phenolic, and antioxidant activity of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. extract in several methods of reducing free radicals DPPH, FIC, FRAP, and ABTS. The extraction method used is maceration extraction with 70% ethanol solvent and concentrated. The total phenolic content was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method with gallic acid as the standard, while the total flavonoid content was determined by the quercetin method. Ascorbic acid was used as a positive control of antioxidant activity. The Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. plant used was obtained from the village of Tegal Bulu Banyuwangi. This type of research is an experimental study with the concentration of the extract used, namely 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mg/L. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. rhizome contained total phenolic and flavonoid content of 23.58±0.25 mgGAE/g and 12.21±0.03 QUE/g extract, respectively. Antioxidant activity with IC50 value in the DPPH free radical reduction method of 11.40 ± 0.23 which is included in the very strong category, FIC of 121.46±2.93 which is included in the medium category, FRAP of 19.38±0.14 which is included in the very strong category, and ABTS of 89.32±0.15 which is included in the strong category. Phenolics and flavonoids are thought to have an important role in the antioxidant activity of Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Roscoeex Sm. rhizome

This program is part of the Merdeka Campus which involves students from various universities in Indonesia and educational backgrounds to assist the teaching and learning process in elementary schools. which is accredited C and provides opportunities for students to be able to learn and develop themselves through activities outside the lecture class. The Kampus Merdeka Angkatan 1 Program at SDIT Madani Ekselensia aims to help optimize elementary education services during the pandemic. This program involves eight students selected to devote themselves to SDIT Madani Ekselensia who come from various educational backgrounds, including from Guidance and Counseling study programs, State Administration Science, PGSD, Electrical Engineering, Japanese Language Education, and Management.     This study aims to determine the best soap formula and to know the effect of addition of chicory extract (Brassica rapa subspecies, pekinensis) in transparent solid soap supply of antibacterial extract of chicory extract (Brassica rapa subspecies, pekinensis) to its effec- tiveness in Staphylococcus aureus. This research is experimental laboratory. Concentra- tion of chicoryin soap are 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Anti-bacterial effectiveness test was performed by disc method of transparent antibacterial soap of chicory extract of ethanol (Brassica rapa subspecies, pekinensis) and measured the clear zone. The analysis was performed by Two Way ANOVA test. The results of soap quality assurance standard fulfill quality standard specified by SNI in 1994 that water content test is found in formulation 6 (F6) with 75% concentration equal to 2.109%. The best free alkali test result were found in the formulation 5 (F5) with a 25% concentration of 0.041963, 50% by 0.041966 and 100% by 0.041963. The best free fatty acid test result were found in the formulation of 2 (F2) 50% concentration with free fatty acid level of 0.07852 %. For the best pH test the conceration of 0%, 25% and 50% with pH yielded 9 and the best foam high yield test was found at 100% concentration. Result of Two Way ANOVA test with variation of extract concentration of chicory ethanol and combination of coconut oil and castor oil obtained p-value = 0.000 <0.05 which states there is real difference. The best test results are in F6 (30.6833 mm). Two Way ANOVA test results showed that trans- parent solid soaps of chicory extracts had the best antibacterial effectiveness against Staphylococcus aureus with an inhibitory zone of 30.6833 mm at 100% concentration

    Heavy Metal Content in Hair at Workers in Gas Station of Sidoarjo City in 2021

    One of the most dominant workplaces where heavy metal contamination occurs is the Gas Station (SPBU). Gas station workers are at high risk of being exposed to heavy metals while working due to inhaling fuel that evaporates into the air and vehicle fumes due to the behavior of motorists who do not turn off the engine while waiting in line. Determination of the level of heavy metal contamination of Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, and Cr was determined through hair clippings using the Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The gas stations used in this study are SPBU X and Y in Sidoarjo. This study aims to determine the levels of heavy metals in hair and to determine the relationship between working period, age, smoking habits, and savety with heavy metal levels in gas station workers in Sidoarjo. The type of research used is descriptive cross sectional and analytical method through filling out questionnaires and correlative statistics with SPSS. The results obtained showed that the average levels of heavy metals Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, and Cr at SPBU X were 0.232, respectively; 0.000; 0.003; 0.001; 0.464; and 0.024 mg/g. while the average levels of heavy metals Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, and Cr at SPBU Y were 0.516, respectively; 0.000; 0.007; -0.001; 0.345; and 0.051 mg/g. It can be said that the levels of heavy metals Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, and Cr did not exceed the specified threshold. The results of the statistical test of the correlation between the levels of heavy metals Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, and Cr with years of service, age, smoking habits, and PPE of gas station workers were not significant (p>0.05)

    Kegiatan PPM (Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) ini merupakan salah satu program yang bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi tentang bahaya bahan kimia (pewarna sintetis, pemanis sintetis, formalin, dan boraks) yang ditambahkan ke bahan makanan dan memberikan informasi tentang cara mudah dan sederhana deteksi bahan kimia berbahaya. agar mitra dapat terbantu dalam memilih bahan pangan yang aman bagi keluarganya sehingga dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatannya terutama dalam menghadapi masa pandemi ini. Mitra sasaran kegiatan pelatihan adalah guru-guru SD Negeri di Kecamatan Krian Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Berdasarkan survey awal, mitra ini belum mengetahui bahaya makanan yang mengandung bahan kimia berbahaya (pewarna sintetis, pemanis sintetis, formalin, dan boraks) terhadap kesehatan. Mitra juga belum mengetahui cara mudah dan sederhana untuk mendeteksi bahan kimia berbahaya (pewarna sintetis, pemanis sintetis, formalin, dan boraks) dalam makanan. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi edukasi mengenai bahaya bahan kimia berbahaya dalam makanan dan pelatihan membuat alat sederhana untuk mendeteksi adanya formalin dan boraks menggunakan tusuk gigi kunyit, pewarna sintetis dengan sabun, dan pemanis sintetis dengan karamelisasi serta mempraktekkan cara mudah dan sederhana untuk mendeteksi bahan kimia berbahaya (pewarna sintetis, pemanis sintetis, formalin, dan boraks) dalam makanan. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi dalam peningkatan derajat kesehatan masyarakat melalui keterampilan memilih bahan pangan yang aman bagi kesehatan

    Sunscreens are cosmetic preparations that protect the skin from exposure to UV radiation resulting in erythema , skin burning , aging and skin cancer. Leaf of Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Pers. contain phenolic compounds such as tannins and flavonoids which act as photoprotective . This research method is experimental with quantitative descriptive analysis. The purpose of research is to know the value of SPF, transmission erythema (% Te) and pigmentation (% Tp) of acetone extracts of Sesbania grandiflora (L.) Pers. using Spectrophotometry UV -Vis at a wavelength of 280-400 nm with intervals of 5 nm. This study variations in extract concentration were made 100, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 ppm. The results SPF value of all concentrations is 1.9 (minimum); 3.6 (minimum); 15.9 (moderate); 56.3 (high); 133.9 (high); and 136.6 (high). The %Te value is 400 ppm ( fast tanning), 600 ppm (regular suntan) and 1000 ppm (extra protection). The value of %Tp at all extract concentrations is included in the category total block

    Ada tiga persoalan yang dikaji dalam skripsi ini, yaitu : (1) bagaimana bentuk-bentuk sikap apatis yang terjadi dengan konseli, (2) bagaimana proses bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam mengatasi sikap apatis, (3) bagaimana hasil bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam mengatasi sikap apatis. Adapun tujuan peneliti ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk sikap apatis, dan mengetahui proses dan hasil bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam menangani sikap apatis. Untuk mengungkap persoalan tersebut secara menyeluruh dan mendalam, dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis analisis deskriptif, yaitu untuk menganalisis data tentang bentuk-bentuk sikap apatis dan proses bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam menangani sikap apatis di Desa Sedati Kecamatan Ngoro Kabupaten Mojokerto. Sedangkan untuk menganalisis data tentang keberhasilan bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam menangani sikap apatis di Desa Sedati Kecamatan Ngoro Kabupaten Mojokerto menggunakan analisis deskriptif komparatif, yaitu membandingkan kondisi konseli sebelum dan sesudah mendapatkan bimbingan konseling Islam. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk sikap apatis adalah suka menyendiri di kamar, ketidakmampuan menyatakan tidak, dan tidak mampu mengambil keputusan sesuai hati nuraninya,tidak pernah berbicara dengan ayahnya sebelum ayahnya mendahului percakapan dan selalu menjawab pertanyaan ayahnya dengan anggukan kepala atau diam, sedangkan proses pelaksanaan bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam mengatasi sikap apatis dengan langkah-langkah bimbingan konseling menggunakan lima tahap, yaitu : identifikasi, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment yaitu teknik memberikan umpan balik, meminta umpan balik dari orang lain, menentukan batasan, membuat permintaan, berlaku konsisten, mengabaikan provokasi, merespon kritik, dan follow up. Sedangkan keberhasilan bimbingan konseling Islam dengan pendekatan assertive training dalam mengatasi sikap apatis di Desa Sedati Kecamatan Ngoro Kabupaten Mojokerto berhasil (80%) ada perubahan, yaitu perilaku yang menunjukkan perubahan pada konseli ke arah yang lebih baik, yaitu konseli tidak mengurung diri di kamar, mampu menyatakan tidak apabila tidak setuju, dan mampu mengambil keputusan sesuai hati nuraninya dan mau mendahului percakapan dengan ayahnya
