Hemangiosarcoma (HSA) is a malignant neoplasm originating from the vascular endothelium, with high metastatic power and commonly described in the spleen, liver, and right atrium. Thus, the objective of the present study is to report the occurrence of HSA at the base of the left atrium of a male, elderly, Lhasa Apso dog, treated with cyanosis, orthopedic position, cough. In the physical examination, the presence of crackling was observed in pulmonary lobes, murmur in focus of mitral and tricuspid grade IV\VI. The recommended emergency therapy was performed until the clinical improvement of the animal. After echocardiography, mitral and tricuspid valvular degeneration was confirmed, as well as the presence of an irregular, mixed echocardiogram, extra-cardiac, immobile at the base of the left atrium, measuring 2.9 x 1.44 cm in diameter. The clinical therapy established stabilized the clinical picture for 128 days, with recurrence of pulmonary edema and severe hemorrhagic pleural effusion, with the owners opting for euthanasia of the animal and necropsy confirming the definitive diagnosis of extrahepatic SAH at the base of the left atrium.O hemangiossarcoma (HSA) é uma neoplasia maligna originada no endotélio vascular, com alto poder metastático e comumente descrito no baço, fígado e átrio direito.

The leaves and fruits of Jatropha gossypifolia L. were evaluated for their chemical composition. The essential oil of the leaves, were obtained by hydrodistillation and the fatty material of albumen and seeds were evaluated for chemical composition and toxicity in the Artemia salina assay. The extraction yield of oil was 26.6 % 38.4 % and 0.0365 % for the seeds, leaves and albumen, respectively. The toxicity of the oil obtained from the albumen and seeds against in the Artemia salina were 74.25 0.21 g mL-1 and 78.66 0.25 g mL-1. The saponification and acidity index for the oil albumen was 165.4 mg KOH g-1 and 10%, respectively. Gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID) was used to analyze the fatty acid profile of albumen and seeds. High percentage (35.81 %) for heptadecanoic acid (C17:0) was determined for the oil form of the seeds. Twelve compounds were identified in the essential oil obtained from the leaves by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The Kovats Index for compounds were calculated and compared to those of literature

Among the climatic factors that interfere in water erosion, precipitation, expressed by the rainfall erosivity, is of great importance. Therefore, its knowledge becomes fundamental for the recommendation for soil management and conservation practices that seek the reduction of water erosion. In that context, the objectives of this work were: a) to determine the rainfall erosivity and its distribution at Rio Doce Valley, Minas Gerais State, for nine sub-regions, b) to estimate the monthly EI30 index in the period from 1969 to 2005 for Ferros and Guanhães counties, and c) to determine the return periods of the monthly and yearly erosivity indexes. The average erosivity value obtained was 12.913 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1, being classified as very high. Among the sub-regions, the erosivity values varied from 8.243 to 26.676 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year-1. The critical periods in relation to water erosion due to the occurrence of erosive rains are January-March and November-December, contributing with 88.6% of the annual erosivity. From April to October, the occurrence of critical erosivity practically does not exist. The estimated individual maximum values for the return periods of 1, 10, 50, and 150 years were of 5.508, 15.534, 18.110, 19.632, and 5.542, 17.653, 20.954, 22.931 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 year¹ for Ferros and Guanhães, respectively. The determination of the erosivity values throughout the year allows to identify the months in which the risks of soil and water losses are higher, which is important for planning the conservation practices
