Since the beginning of Project Half Double in 2015, the overall goal has been to deliver "Projects in half the time with double the impact" where projects in half the time should be understood as half the time to impact and not as half the time for project execution. The research team at Aarhus University has published three Project Half Double reports on the Half Double Methodology and the results from applying the methodology on "real life" pilot projects in order to evaluate how the overall goal mentioned above has been achieved. The aim of this report is to document some of the learnings obtained throughout the years. Four themes were selected for this report: 1) practitioner training, 2) working with visuals, 3) practice reflections, and finally 4) small and medium-sized enterprises

The mission of Project Half Double is to develop a project methodology that can increase the impact and speed of projects. Overall, the goal is to deliver "Projects in half the time with double the impact" where projects in half the time should be understood as half the time to impact (benefit realization, effect is achieved) and not as half the time for project execution. Implement Consulting Group is running Project Half Double in collaboration with a number of companies as well as The Danish Industry Foundation that supports the project financially. Aarhus University is engaged in the project with the overall task of evaluating the implementation of the new Half Double Methodology and document its potential impact in a number of pilot projects. In this booklet, the research team briefly presents the high level reseach findings of Project Half Double

Developing a Multidimensional Conception of Project Evaluation to Improve Projects

In the quest to improve projects, project actors rely on sound project evaluation. However, project evaluation can be complex and challenging. This study aims to explore and define project evaluation and reveal how it can promote continuous improvements within and across projects and organizations. A review of extant literature finds four constitutive properties for project evaluation: criteria, times, evaluands, and evaluators. Based on the action design research of 75 projects in 21 organizations, the study finds three evaluation perspectives: process, outcome, and learning. Understanding the multidimensionality of project evaluation through the seven identified dimensions offers a meaningful conception of project evaluation.acceptedVersionPeer reviewe
