Generic design of Chinese remaindering schemes

We propose a generic design for Chinese remainder algorithms. A Chinese remainder computation consists in reconstructing an integer value from its residues modulo non coprime integers. We also propose an efficient linear data structure, a radix ladder, for the intermediate storage and computations. Our design is structured into three main modules: a black box residue computation in charge of computing each residue; a Chinese remaindering controller in charge of launching the computation and of the termination decision; an integer builder in charge of the reconstruction computation. We then show that this design enables many different forms of Chinese remaindering (e.g. deterministic, early terminated, distributed, etc.), easy comparisons between these forms and e.g. user-transparent parallelism at different parallel grains

Hypnosis and memory: two hundred years of adventures and still going!

One of the most persistent beliefs about hypnosis is its ability to transcend mnemonic abilities. This belief has paved the way to the use of hypnosis in the clinical and legal arenas. The authors review the phenomena of hypnotic hypermnesia, pseudo-memories, and amnesia in light of current knowledge of hypnosis and memory. The investigation of the relation between hypnosis and memory processes has played an important role in our understanding of memory in action. Hypnosis provides a fertile field to explore the social, neuropsychological, and cognitive variables at play when individuals are asked to remember or to forget their past. We suggest promising avenues of research that may further our knowledge of the building blocks of memories and the mechanisms that leads to forgetfulness

Le rôle des importations dans la consommation alimentaire en Côte d'Ivoire

La croissance des importations alimentaires et celle, plus spectaculaire encore, de certaines denrées de grande consommation, telles que le riz, ne peut s'interpréter simplement comme dégradation constante du taux de couverture des besoins et comme une dépendance accrue à l'égard de l'extérieur. Cette dégradation n'est pas confirmée par les chiffres, dès lors qu'on tient compte de la très forte expansion du commerce extérieur dans son ensemble. Cette interprétation s'appuie sur une base statistique incomplète et erronée et ignore l'articulation instituée par l'Etat ivoirien entre l'achat extérieur et les autres moyens de sa politique alimentaire. Cet article traite de la place de l'alimentation dans les importations, du poids des grandes denrées et de leur part dans l'approvisionnement local avant d'analyser le rôle des importations comme instrument de la politique alimentaire de la Côte d'Ivoire. Вклад радиационно-гетерогенных процессов в водородную безопасность водоохлаждаемых ядерных реакторов

Проведено обобщение экспериментальных результатов по исследованию накопления молекулярного водорода при радиационных и радиационно-термических гетерогенных процессах в контакте металлического циркония и нержавеющей стали с водой. При этом показано, что полученные результаты служат основой для пересмотра сценария нормальных и аварийных режимов работы водоохлаждаемых ядерных реакторов.Проведено узагальнення експериментальних результатів по дослідженню нагромодження молекулярного водню при радіаційних і радіаційно-термічних гетерогенних процесах у контакті металевого цирконію й нержавіючої сталі з водою. При цьому показано, що отримані результати є основою для перегляду сценарію нормальних і аварійних режимів роботи водоохолоджуваних ядерних реакторів.In the represented work the experimental results on the accumulation of molecular hydrogen in radiation and radiation-thermal heterogeneous processes in connection of metallic zirconium and stainless steel with water were summarized.
